Upon seeing Elijah, Sacha got into the car quickly. She didn’t want to make eye contact with him. It wasn’t that she was afraid of him, but she wasn’t used to his coldness towards her. Sacha also didn’t want Elijah to misunderstand her intentions, thinking that she was trying to climb up the social ladder or something. She was well aware of her own identity. It was better to maintain a bit of distance. Elijah glanced towards the car without saying anything. After Luna bid farewell before leaving, Freya walked up to Elijah and took his arm, leading him back inside.
“You had someone deliver something today?” she asked.
Elijah looked at her, “Do you like it?”
Freya curled her lips. It would be a lie to say she didn’t like it. There wasn’t a woman who didn’t like sparkling jewelry. But for her, she didn’t have a deep attachment to it, nor did she feel the need to possess it. Her greatest happiness was Elijah’s thoughtfulness, which showed that he cared about her.
“It’s too precious. I placed it in the study. I noticed there’s a safe in there, but I don’t know the password, so I have to wait for you to come back and put it inside.”
Elijah chuckled, “From the way you’re speaking, it sounds like you’re blaming me for not telling you the password to the safe.”
Freya pouted, “Yeah, in other people’s homes, the wife manages everything. In our home, you haven’t entrusted the family fortune to me, nor have you given me any bridal gifts.”
“Well, how much do you want for bridal gifts?” Elijah asked, amused.
Freya pretended to think, “Let’s go with the market price.”
Elijah pinched her cheek, “You’re talking nonsense. Can you be like everyone else?”
“What’s so different? We’re all getting married.”
“I can give you my life,” Elijah embraced her and whispered in her ear, “Can anyone else do that?”
Freya pushed him away, “Smooth talker, you weren’t like this before.”
“What was I like before?”
Freya didn’t want to engage in a battle of wits with him and pointed to the table, “Put the things down.” After saying that, she turned to leave.
“Stay.” Elijah held onto her. He held Freya and turned the safe’s password.
Freya didn’t look, she was just joking earlier. Elijah’s family fortune was too big, and she couldn’t handle it. After a few turns, the safe made a clicking sound, and the door opened. Inside were some important documents, as well as the box that Freya had seen before. Freya took the initiative to bring the things over, and Elijah asked her to put them inside. She had no choice but to do it herself. When she was about to put the bracelet inside, Elijah asked her to leave it out.
“Huh?” Freya looked at him, puzzled.
Elijah said it was for Elowen. Elowen had been helping them take care of the children. It was hard work. Elijah no longer had any family; Freya’s family was his family.
Freya was moved by his thoughtfulness.
“But, isn’t this too expensive?” she asked.
“It’s not like it’s for someone else.” He replied.
“Well, thank you,” Freya said.
Elijah furrowed his brows slightly, “Why are you being so polite with me?”
Freya smiled and said, “Can I take a look at this?” as she pointed to the box inside the safe. She remembered this box. She had accidentally dropped it last time at the old house of the Silverton family, and Elijah had been angry. She hadn’t seen what was inside clearly. They would be legally married soon, so Freya wanted to understand everything about this man.
Elijah’s expression paused for a moment. This safe had been moved from their previous house. Inside were things that Elijah had put in before.
Freya sensed his hesitation and didn’t force him, “I’ll go and give this to my mom.”
As she turned around, Elijah grabbed her.
