Before Debra could finish her words, Orion interrupted, “Mom, what are you talking about?”
He was a bit annoyed. “How did you harm her before? I didn’t hold it against you. If she hadn’t lost her memory, we might not have had a chance to be together. She’s already gone through so much, and you still doubt her?”
Debra stared at her son. “I didn’t intend to doubt her. It’s just that the events seem too coincidental…”
“The fire incident has been investigated and it was determined to be an accidental electrical fire. How can you suspect her of such things?” Orion was displeased with this. Because he felt indebted to Luna and he was determined to make it up to her. If he still doubted her at this time, would he even be considered human?
Outside the ward, Luna heard this and turned around to leave. There was no expression on her face. Nor did Orion’s words soften her heart.
Inside the ward, Debra knew that her words held no weight and that Orion wouldn’t believe her. So she said, “Just forget that I said anything.”
But the doubt in her heart didn’t dissipate. Instead, she decided to investigate Luna secretly.
Orion held his breath, but now he was more rational. He suppressed his voice and said, “Mom, I truly love Luna. I don’t want to lose her. Please stop these baseless suspicions.”
Debra remained silent. She only looked at her son, her gaze becoming much deeper.
Orion sat silently beside her, waiting for Luna to return. When she did, he took the apples she bought, placed them on the table, and pulled Luna out with him. Luna knew why he was upset, but she deliberately asked, “What’s wrong with you? You seem unhappy.”
Orion said, “My arm hurts.”
Luna said, “Let me call a doctor.”
“No. As long as you’re by my side, I’ll be fine.” Orion turned to look at her, a smile on his face. “I feel lucky to have you back by my side.”
Luna raised an eyebrow but didn’t respond.
Ten days later, Orion was discharged from the hospital and went to find Freya. Freya had just returned from the hospital, holding her young son and watching Kai play with blocks on the carpet. It was a heartwarming scene that made Orion envious.
“Elijah hasn’t come back yet?” Orion asked, sitting on the couch.
Freya made a soft sound in agreement. “He’s been busy with work.”
Orion paused for a moment before saying, “The investigation results are out. It was an accident.”
Freya lowered her gaze slightly. “I see.”
“Do you also suspect Luna?” Orion wasn’t a fool.
He could make the connection since his mother had raised the same question. Debra doubted Luna, and he felt that she was biased against Luna. He wouldn’t believe it. Freya was Luna’s best friend, and if she had suspicions, she must have noticed something.
“I just feel like she has changed a bit.” Freya didn’t directly answer the question.
“You are Luna’s best friend. Now that she has lost her memory, I hope you can still treat her the same way. She is Luna, don’t have any other thoughts. Even if her personality is different from before, it’s because of her memory loss.”
Freya nodded and said, “I understand.”
“I have something else to attend to, so I’ll leave.” Orion stood up.
Freya didn’t get up. “Then I won’t see you off.”
Orion said she didn’t have to get up, he patted Kai’s head before leaving. He initially planned to go to the company in his car, but after some thought, he decided to go back and see Luna first. But at the entrance, he saw Luna with Zane. It seemed like Zane had come to see her.
Orion parked the car and walked quickly towards them.
