Tiffany felt dizzy, unable to even see Ronan clearly in front of her. Ronan was also experiencing dizziness, unable to stand steady, his body swaying. He sat on the couch and shook his head forcefully, trying to clear his mind.
“Are you feeling dizzy too? I’m feeling lightheaded,” Tiffany said.
Even the baby in her arms, who had just been crying, was now fast asleep. Ronan seemed to realize Freya’s earlier reaction. She was a doctor. Her sense of smell was keen. She must have noticed something was wrong.
His gaze fell upon the candle on the table. The candle was sent by a hotel attendant, claiming it would aid in sleep. At the time, he didn’t think much of it and allowed it to be placed there. It must be the candle’s fault. Ronan stood up, intending to extinguish it. But before he could reach it, he collapsed to the ground. Tiffany, sitting on the couch, also fell into unconsciousness.
…
Freya emerged from the room and saw Evan in the hallway.
“What are you doing here?” she asked.
Evan replied, “Mr Silverton asked me to collect hair and blood samples from Ronan’s child.”
Only then did Freya understand. “So, you’re the one who arranged the drugged room?”
Evan nodded. “By now, the people inside should be feeling dizzy too.”
“I’m coming with you,” Freya said.
Evan had already obtained a spare key to Ronan’s room and easily opened the door. The door swung open, revealing Ronan lying on the floor. This type of love potion could easily render adults unconscious, and inhaling it could harm such a young baby as well. Freya quickly stepped inside, taking the baby from Tiffany’s arms. She walked out, allowing the child to breathe in the fresh air outside. Inside, Evan extinguished the candle. Indeed, he had tampered with the candle. Looking at Ronan lying on the ground, Evan kicked him. “Can’t go a day without causing trouble, can you? Can’t you just behave?”
Freya asked, “What are you going to do with them?”
“In order to keep him quiet, I have to tie him up,” Evan replied.
Evan had prepared some ropes and quickly bound Ronan, gagging him as well. He did the same to Tiffany. Once everything was done, Evan closed the door and left.
The two of them walked outside the hotel.
“Where are we going now?” Evan asked.
Freya asked him for the time. Evan said it was three o’clock.
“It’s still early. Let’s go to HY Research Center.” Freya suggested.
“Okay.”
Evan went to get the car, and Freya sat in the back.
They arrived at their destination quickly. Freya carried the baby inside. Instead of immediately conducting an examination, she first checked the baby’s overall health and then took a blood sample for testing. Evan stayed outside. He called Elijah to tell him that Freya was conducting the test. Elijah asked where they were.
Evan answered, “We’re at HY Research Center.”
Elijah arrived here not long after. He walked briskly. Evan met him halfway.
“How is it? Did you get the results?” Elijah’s face remained calm, but there was a hint of urgency in his voice.
Evan replied, “Not yet.”
Freya hadn’t come out yet, so all they could do now was wait. But waiting always felt so long. And indeed, it was long. After more than two hours, Freya finally emerged from inside.
Elijah hurriedly approached her. “How is it?”
Freya looked up at him, her eyes bloodshot, her body trembling slightly. Even her fingers felt icy cold. She had conducted the test twice, and the results were the same. She had drawn the blood herself and personally conducted the analysis, without any errors.
“Elijah…” Her voice was hoarse.
