Ronan was the one who opened the door. He seemed a bit displeased. “I thought you were going to stand me up again.”
“I had something come up.” Freya replied nonchalantly.
Ronan stepped aside. “Come on in.”
Freya stood at the doorway, cautiously glancing inside the house. When she saw that there were other people inside, she took a step forward.
Ronan closed the door. “Are you so wary of me, afraid I’ll eat you?”
Freya retorted, “Have you ever succeeded in getting the upper hand with me?”
Ronan paused. He had to admit that Freya was a cunning woman. Not wanting to dwell on that topic, he quickly changed the subject. “This is my newlywed wife, Tiffany.”
At that moment, the woman sitting on the couch, holding a baby, stood up and politely greeted Freya. “Hello, Ronan mentioned that he had a friend coming over, and that’s you, right? Nice to meet you.”
Freya was completely puzzled now, wondering what Ronan was up to.
She smiled politely. “Hello.”
Ronan walked over and embraced the woman, then looked at Freya. “We were once friends. I got married, and you didn’t even show up. I was quite upset!”
Freya explained, “I couldn’t travel far at that time.”
Ronan glanced her up and down. “Couldn’t travel far?”
Soon, he understood. “Ah, it’s because you were in confinement, right? By the way, where’s your child? When are you having the celebration for the child’s birth?”
Freya’s heart sank, and her gaze became sharp involuntarily. “Speaking of which, I have a doubt. You got married not even two months ago, so how did you have a child?”
Ronan remained unfazed and patted the woman in his arms. “Tell her.”
Tiffany spoke, “Ronan and I have been together for a long time. This time, he married me because I was already pregnant and pressured him into it.”
The explanation seemed reasonable, but Freya didn’t believe it. “Is that so?”
“What’s the matter? Don’t you believe it?” Ronan asked.
“I don’t,” Freya replied bluntly. “My child is gone, and I believe you took him.”
Tiffany seemed surprised and turned to look at Ronan. “Did you steal someone else’s child?”
Ronan glared at her. “Stop talking nonsense.”
He remained calm, a smile playing at the corners of his lips as he looked at Freya. “Do you suspect me? Do you have any evidence?”
“I don’t have evidence at the moment. If you didn’t steal, are you willing to let me conduct a paternity test on your child?” Freya asked.
“You have no evidence, so why would you want to conduct a test on my child? Are you joking?” Ronan sat on the couch, holding the woman in his arms. “Your child is missing. Maybe it’s because you’ve done so many wrong things that even the heavens are punishing you.”
Freya stared at Ronan without blinking. “If I’ve done anything to upset you, I apologize. But please, don’t do anything to my child.”
Ronan just looked at her and laughed without saying a word. Freya was irritated by his gaze.
“You…”
Suddenly, Freya sensed a strange smell in the air. But if she didn’t sniff carefully, she wouldn’t notice it. With her professional experience, she recognized the smell as some kind of drug. If she wasn’t mistaken, it was a type of sedative.
What was going on? Could this be Ronan’s intention in bringing her here?
“Ronan, you’re despicable! Don’t forget, I’m a doctor. Your tricks won’t harm me at all!” Freya was furious. She never expected him to resort to such unscrupulous tactics.
Ronan was puzzled. “Why are you suddenly angry?”
He couldn’t figure out the reason behind Freya’s sudden outburst. Without saying another word, Freya stormed out of the room, leaving Ronan completely bewildered. He was about to chase after her to find out what was going on when his son started crying. So, he turned around to look at the child.
When Ronan was about to chase after Freya, Tiffany deliberately pinched the baby in her arms, making him cry. This kept Ronan from leaving. However, her action caused unintended consequences.
