Haley grabbed the man’s arm and said, “Come with me to confront Orion.”
She still believed that he was responsible for what happened to her. But the man glanced at her and then shrugged her off. Haley fell to her knees, feeling defeated on the ground. She glared at the man in anger. Now the man recognized her too.
“Oh, it’s you?” he said.
The man crouched down in front of her, lifting her chin with his hand. “So, you can’t forget that night, huh? Want to do it again?”
Haley fought against the nausea and denied, “I don’t want anything to do with you. I just want to know who paid you to frame me!”
The man casually looked up and noticed Dina coming out of the bridal shop across the street. He motioned for Haley to look over. “It’s her.”
Haley slowly turned her head and saw Dina, who was surrounded by people, looking content.
“It seems she’s doing well,” the man commented, rubbing his chin with interest.
Haley’s face twitched, gradually turning sinister. She never expected that it was Dina who betrayed her that night.
It was her!
Her hand on the ground clenched tighter and tighter into a fist.
“I heard she’s going to marry Elijah Silverton. He’s a wealthy and influential man. I should have asked her for some money that night, knowing she had such a background,” the man regretted.
Haley quickly caught the greed in the man’s eyes and said, “What if we work together?”
The man didn’t immediately understand her meaning and asked, “Work together for what?”
As Haley explained, she also convinced him, “Kidnap her, extort some money. You said she’s going to marry Elijah, right? She must be rich now. What do you say we team up?”
The man stared at Haley, as if observing whether her words were true or false. Haley didn’t hide her hatred for Dina. In the man’s mind, if Dina bribed him and ruined her innocence, it was only fair for her to seek revenge by kidnapping her. And if he could get some money from Dina, he would like to give it a try. Then he could continue to live luxuriously. The money Dina gave him before had long been squandered. After a brief thought, the man agreed to cooperate with Haley.
Haley reached out her hand. “Lend me a hundred bucks first.”
She needed to take a taxi to find Orion.
The man sneered, “You’re that broke?”
Haley gritted her teeth. “I ended up like this because of you. If it wasn’t for you, Orion wouldn’t have insisted on divorcing me, leading to the situation we’re in today!”
The man didn’t think he was at fault either and replied nonchalantly, “So, you’re blaming me?”
“You were just bought off, and the instigator was her,” Haley knew that she had no grudges or grievances with the man.
It was Dina who had caused her harm.
The man chuckled, “You’re quite reasonable, aren’t you?!”
Haley didn’t waste any more time talking to him, “I have things to do. Let’s meet tonight.”
They exchanged contact information.
The man even gave her 100 dollars.
…
This time, Haley wanted to meet Orion. But Orion refused to see her. He left her waiting downstairs at the company until evening before someone brought her to his office. Haley knew that Orion wasn’t the one who set her up. The initial anger was gone.
“I came to ask you for a divorce.”
Orion replied calmly, “Are you willing?”
Haley said, “I’m not willing. If I don’t, I won’t be able to survive. You took everything from me, just to force me to divorce you?”
Orion sneered, “You brought this upon yourselves, it’s your own fault.”
“Because of Luna?” Haley laughed, “Don’t forget, your mother also acted. Why don’t you seek revenge from her? If you’re capable, why don’t you punish her too?”
Orion’s face grew colder, his eyes narrowed, “Haley, you’re desperate and you came to me for a divorce, yet you dare to provoke me. Believe me, I can make sure your mother doesn’t receive treatment at the hospital.”
Haley’s face instantly turned pale.
How could she forget that?
The Orion now was no longer the same Orion as before. She endured it for the sake of her mother’s life. She reached out her hand, “Give it to me!”
Orion had someone bring it to her. Haley took the pen, the marriage she had fought so hard for had finally come to an end. Forcing something that wasn’t meant to be was never sweet. At this moment, she felt regret and resentment. She closed her eyes. Picking up the pen, finally, she signed her name.
“Orion, from now on, we are like strangers.” After saying that, she dropped the pen, and the black ballpoint pen made a ‘click’ as it fell on the table.
Now she no longer loved Orion. All that was left was the hatred that he had destroyed her family.
“You said you would give me money, so give it to me now!”
Orion sat down on the couch, “Why should I give you money?”
“You said that if I signed the divorce papers, you would give me money. Why are you going back on your word?” Haley frowned.
Orion didn’t deny it, “I did say that, but you didn’t sign it at the time, and the deadline has passed. So, there’s no money anymore.”
Haley gradually became angry, “You lied to me?”
“This is not lying. I gave you the opportunity, but you didn’t take it.” Orion was losing patience, “Just leave!”
Haley refused to give in, “You must give me the money. My mother is still in the hospital and needs treatment!”
“Why should I care if you need money?” Orion called his assistant to bring security.
Haley was furious, but she was helpless. She couldn’t fight against Orion now. She could only let him take advantage of her. Security came and took Haley away from the office.
“Orion!” Haley shouted in anger.
Her voice quickly disappeared on that floor. Finally, Orion had some peace and quiet. He glanced at the divorce agreement on the table and stood up. His phone, placed on the table, suddenly rang. He picked it up and answered the call. It was Sacha calling. After moving Evan, he left Sacha to take care of him.
“Orion, Evan woke up!” Sacha’s excitement couldn’t be contained.
Orion was also taken aback, “What? Really? I’m coming over right now.”
Evan woke up, which was simply a miracle.
Orion was so surprised. He drove his car, going faster than usual. Soon, he arrived at the location. Seeing Evan sitting on the bed, he walked up and patted his shoulder, “I thought you were going to sleep forever!” After that, he looked at Sacha, “Has the doctor checked him?”
Sacha smiled brightly, “He’s been checked, there’s nothing wrong. Just some exercise, and he’ll recover.”
Evan told Sacha, “Step out for a moment, I have something to discuss with him.”
Sacha pouted, “Heartless guy, I’ve been taking care of you, and you haven’t even said thank you. Now you’re telling me to leave because I’m in the way. Let me tell you, be careful, or I’ll ruin you.”
Evan helplessly said, “Be good. I have something to discuss.”
Orion glanced at Evan and then at Sacha, a smirk forming on his lips. “Careful, you two might die from being too lovey-dovey.”
Sacha blushed and ran out, feeling shy. Orion sat down on the edge of the bed, maintaining his teasing tone. “Spit it out already, I don’t want to be a third wheel.”
Evan had a serious expression on his face.
Orion furrowed his brow. “What are you about to say? Don’t be so serious, it’s scaring me.”
