Elijah walked over and reached out, gently pulling her into his embrace, and asked softly, “What are you thinking?”
Freya thought he had already left, but she didn’t expect him to be waiting for her at the hospital entrance.
She said, “Aren’t you afraid your secretary will find out when you act so openly?”
Elijah held her as they got into the car and said, “She won’t have the time.”

In a high-end custom wedding dress shop, Dina was trying on wedding dresses. She was immersed in joy. Because this wedding dress was custom-made by Elijah himself. She felt that Elijah must have realized her worth and accepted her. She deliberately wore the diamond jewelry set and flaunted it, basking in the envy of those around her.
“This wedding dress suits you so well,” complimented the shop assistant.
Dina stood in front of the mirror. Admiring herself in the wedding dress, paired with the diamond jewelry, she listened to the shop assistant and smiled deeply. She enjoyed being served and pampered by others. She couldn’t help but feel elated.
The shop assistant continued to flatter, “From now on, we should address you as Mrs Edwards, right?”
Dina smiled even brighter and said, “No rush, we’ll wait until after the wedding.”
“Your wedding dress is ready, so you’ll be getting married soon, right?” the shop assistant asked.
Dina raised an eyebrow, her voice filled with arrogance, “Of course.”
The shop assistant congratulated her repeatedly, “Congratulations.”
Dina raised her head, full of pride and satisfaction.
With today’s outcome, all her efforts were not in vain!

Meanwhile, Freya sat in the car, leaning lazily against the seat. After a long surgery, she was exhausted. Her body was already weak to begin with.
“Will she find out that you saved Zane?”
“No, she won’t,” Elijah’s face turned cold, “If it weren’t for the fact that we haven’t found a cure for Kai yet, she would have been dead long ago.”
Freya turned her head to look at him, reached out and held his hand, saying, “The medication to treat Kai is already in the trial stage. If there are no adverse reactions, we can start using it on Kai.”
A glimmer of light flashed in Elijah’s eyes, and he pulled the car over to the side of the road.
“Why did we stop…”
Before Freya could finish her sentence, her body was heavily embraced by a strong and warm embrace. Elijah held her tightly. Freya was initially stunned, but she smelled the familiar scent between their breaths, and her body softened, melting into his embrace. She trembled her eyelashes and whispered, “Everything will be alright.”
Kai would get better, and that child would surely be found. She believed, and she was firm in her belief. Elijah brushed his cheek against hers, and for the first time in his life, he felt comforted. A woman who endured more than he ever had. He looked at Freya. This woman, in her twenties, had a fail body, yet harboring infinite strength. She was so strong, so brave, and so composed in the face of adversity. She had countless shining qualities. Each one of them was captivating.
“Freya, if Kai can be cured, let me know right away.” He had been searching, but so far, no leads. His secretary had been following him for years, and she had learned a lot. He knew that the chances of finding a cure for Kai from his secretary were slim.
“Mmm…” Freya murmured softly in agreement.
Elijah chuckled self-deprecatingly, “I never thought that one day, I would be helpless in a situation and need you to solve it for me.”
Freya raised her hand, resting it on his waist. “Do you feel lucky to have married me?”
Elijah, rare hint of a smile on his face, replied in a low and deep voice, “It took me ten lifetimes to earn such fortune.”
Their eyes met. Freya, despite her thinness, still had bright pupils like stars in the sky. Elijah gazed at her, and slowly, his lips drew closer. Gently, they pressed against her soft ones. In that moment of skin-to-skin contact, their warmth transferred to each other’s senses. Freya closed her eyes, tilting her chin, pressing closer. In this moment, it was less about romance and more about comforting each other. They kissed for a long time before parting. Elijah raised his hand, his delicate fingertips brushing away a droplet of water from her lips.
In a deep voice, he said, “I’ll take you back.”
Freya shook her head. “I’m going to the research center. Sivin has been trying a new medicine, and I want to see how he’s doing.”
Elijah looked at her deeply for a few seconds before finally agreeing.
He started the car again.

Orion sat at his desk, staring at the newly released announcement on his computer screen. The Ten Holt situation was finally settled. He didn’t follow the rules and regulations, used prohibited equipment, caused a fire that took several lives, showed no remorse, and even attempted bribery. With the undeniable evidence and the efforts of Orion and Stephen Brown, Ten Holt was sentenced to 28 years. Now, Ten Holt was already 51, and by the time he was released, he would be almost eighty. Who knew if he would even live that long.
Jessica Holt fainted on the spot in the courtroom. Ten Holt wanted to say a few words to his wife and daughter, but he wasn’t given the chance. He was taken away directly.
Haley had to hold her unconscious mother while helplessly watching her father being taken away. She finally understood. She had no one to rely on anymore. Their family company was also taken away by Orion and Stephen Brown, and thus she had nothing left, no father to protect her. Her hands curled into fists, little by little. “All of this was Orion’s doing!” she thought.
Haley gritted her teeth. She hated her own stupidity and ignorance. Love had clouded her judgment, leading the entire Holt family to destruction. She swore to take revenge. But when she tried to send her mother to the hospital, she realized that she didn’t even have the money to pay for the medical expenses. She couldn’t enter Orion’s house, and the her family mansion was sealed off by Stephen Brown. Now she had spent all the money she had. How could she seek revenge?
“Why haven’t you paid yet?” the nurse urged. “Your mother needs to undergo examination. According to hospital procedures, if you don’t pay, we can’t arrange the examination.”
For the first time, Haley realized that without money, she couldn’t do anything. She, who had always been pampered since childhood. Finally experienced the bitterness of being broke. After the incident in her family, the friends and relatives who used to be close to the Holt family intentionally distanced themselves, afraid that being associated with the Holt family would bring them bad luck. Not to mention borrowing money, Haley couldn’t even see anyone. Now her mother needed money for treatment, and the only way she could get it was by agreeing to divorce Orion.
Orion had promised that if she signed the divorce agreement, he would give her a sum of money. She bit her lip forcefully, still acting like a spoiled brat, “Go and do the examination for my mom right now. If anything happens to her, I’ll wreck this hospital. Isn’t it all about money? I will pay!”
After saying that, she turned around and ran out. She took a taxi to the company to find Orion.
Her hands clenched tightly, palms sweaty, as she looked out the window with a helpless and wandering gaze. But to her surprise, she caught sight of that man. The man who had taken away her innocence! She called out to the driver to stop, pushed open the car door, and ran towards him, grabbing hold of that man.
