“I certainly have the right, unlike you.” Dina sneered at Elowen. “Do you think I came here to spoil your fun on my own? It was Elijah who told me to drive you away!”
“Don’t spout nonsense!” Elowen couldn’t believe Dina’s words.
“Kai is feeling unwell now, and I don’t believe Elijah would do something like kicking us out at this critical moment…”
“I’m going to marry Elijah, so you all have to leave, got it?” Dina adopted a superior attitude, sitting on the sofa. “I’ll give you one hour, or else I’ll throw all your things out.”
Elowen almost fainted from anger, her legs weak as she took a couple of steps back. Linda quickly supported her. Linda glared at Dina and, in the next second, rushed forward, scratching at her face. “You wicked woman! Selling us a sick dog and making Kai ill, and now you’re here, acting all high and mighty. With your despicable nature, there’s no way Mr. would even look at you. It’s your delusion!”
Caught off guard, Dina was scratched before she could react. When she finally did, her face was burning with pain. She pushed Linda away. “Are you tired of living?”
Linda fell to the ground but didn’t give up. She got up and tried to scratch again. At that moment, Freya walked in, looking at Linda and Elowen, and said, “Pack your things, we’re leaving.”
Both Linda and Elowen froze. They seemed to have misheard.
“Freya, what are you saying?” Elowen couldn’t believe it.
Linda also thought it was unlikely. “You’re Mr Silverton’s wife, Kai’s mother. It should be her who leaves. She’s just a secretary. Mr Silverton will marry her? It’s a huge joke. She’s daydreaming! Look at her, what an ugly face she has!”
“Do you believe that I can have Elijah dismiss you right now?” Dina glared at them. Being insulted by a servant like this. She was infuriated, her face turning red.
“I don’t believe it. I have served Mr Silverton longer than you have been a secretary. Do you think you’re a cunning wicked woman who can charm people’s hearts? Unfortunately, you don’t have the face to cause disaster to the country and the people. Stop trying to flatter yourself and take a good look in the mirror. What kind of ugly face do you have!” Linda retorted, unfiltered.
Dina was left speechless by the servant’s retorts. Her face went from pale to livid. She clenched her fists, saw a porcelain cup on the table, and grabbed it, ready to smash it at Linda. But Freya quickly stepped forward and snatched the cup from Dina’s hand. “Let’s leave now. There’s no need to lay hands on an elderly person.”
Dina stared, “Didn’t you hear what she said to me just now?”
“She has been living here for so long. It’s natural for us to have some grievances when you come to drive us away. Isn’t that to be expected?” asked Freya.
Hearing Freya’s words, Dina smirked triumphantly. “They don’t believe Elijah will marry me. Freya, tell them, will Elijah marry me?”
Both Elowen and Linda looked at Freya simultaneously. Freya knew what Dina wanted to hear, so she went along with it, saying to Linda and Elowen, “Elijah indeed wants to break up with me. He will probably marry Dina. Let’s quickly pack our things…”
“Is he blind?” Linda couldn’t contain her anger and blurted it out.
Dina, repeatedly attacked on her appearance, became increasingly furious. She was inferior to the previous Freya, but now Freya was disfigured.
“Even if I’m uglier than her, I’m still better than this ugly monster. Besides, do you even understand anything?” Dina coldly stared at Linda. “In a man’s eyes, a woman needs more than just looks; she needs capability. Freya only brings trouble to Elijah. She doesn’t deserve to stand by his side. The woman who should stand by him, shoulder to shoulder, should be someone like me. In work, I am his right-hand woman. In life, I can take care of him. I can handle both high society and the kitchen. What can Freya compare to me? Huh?”
Linda was wide-eyed with anger. At that moment, Elowen regained her composure. If Dina didn’t have Elijah’s consent, she probably wouldn’t dare to be so audacious. So, arguing with her was pointless.
She said, “Linda, let’s stop fighting and leave.” After saying that, she started packing her things.
Freya and Elowen didn’t pursue it any further. Linda, a servant, lost her confidence and silently packed her belongings.
“Wait.” Just as Freya was about to enter the house, Dina called out to her.
“Freya, do you know how much I despise you?”
Freya stood still, slowly turning to look at her with a cold and indifferent gaze.
“Ever since you married Elijah, I’ve hated you. Do you remember that car accident?”
Freya couldn’t recall it immediately.
Dina reminded her, “It was Zane who was driving the car, but I intentionally arrested you since the car was registered under your name.”
Freya remembered. Because of that incident, she lost her child.
Dina chuckled, “Actually, I investigated and found out that it was Zane driving the car. But since the car was registered under your name, I deliberately arrested you.”
Freya’s hand, hanging by her side, slowly curled into a fist. Liora had performed a procedure on her, and at that time, she didn’t miscarry. It was the beating she received that directly caused her to lose the child. She had held a grudge against Liora all this time. It turned out, Dina was the mastermind behind it all. If it weren’t for that beating, perhaps the child could have been saved. She scrutinized Dina, realizing how cunning this woman was.
“What you wanted, you’ve achieved it all. I lost, I admit it, you won.”
Dina replied, “I will get everything I want.”
Freya said blandly, “Congratulations,” and turned away.
…
They only packed clothes and some basic personal items, quickly finishing the task. Freya held Kai, while Linda and Elowen carried the luggage. Dina sat on the couch with her arms crossed. “This place will become the new home for Elijah and me.”
Linda couldn’t bear it and wanted to argue with her, but Elowen restrained her. Dina had the backing of Elijah. Arguing with her would be futile.
Freya glanced back at Dina, her eyes filled with a murderous intent. This woman not only caused the death of one of her children but now she was targeting Kai. She would never let her get away with it.
As Freya walked out of the house, her phone suddenly rang. She took out her phone. It was a message from Elijah: [The places Dina knows about are no longer safe. I have arranged a new place for you. The driver will take you there.]
When Dina expressed her desire to live in that place, Elijah immediately agreed. Firstly, because Dina already knew about it and was familiar with it, so it couldn’t serve as Freya and Kai’s living place anymore. Secondly, it made Dina even more smug.
To bring about someone’s downfall, you must first drive them mad.
After reading the message, Freya didn’t reply but got into the car and left.
…
To silence Stephen Brown, Ten Holt had almost moved all the available money. But it was still not enough. He could only try to offset it with some business deals.
“Take a look. These business deals are long-term and profitable. They are worth more than money.” Ten Holt pushed the contract towards him. “Once you sign it, it’s yours. Of course, the condition is that you must destroy the evidence that could ruin me.”
Stephen Brown opened it and took a look. He had to be cautious as well since Ten Holt was quite a sly fox. After making sure there were no issues, Stephen Brown signed the contract and destroyed the evidence that had caused the destruction of others in order to get Ten Holt’s property. Only then did Ten Holt feel a slight relief in his heart.
“Oh, by the way, I received an unexpected email. Take a look.” Stephen Brown inserted the USB into the computer and played the video, showing it to Ten Holt.
Ten Holt’s face slowly turned pale as he watched the video.
He struggled to speak, “What… What’s this…”
