Haley’s mind was sharp, and she quickly realized that someone wanted to harm her. However, she couldn’t figure out who was behind it.
“Put on your clothes and go back!” Orion said, turning to leave.
Haley grabbed onto him.
“Orion, listen to me, I have been framed…”
“Does it matter to me?” Orion looked at her with a hint of coldness in his eyes. He couldn’t understand this woman. Sometimes she seemed like a good person, but other times she was really terrible.
“Are you going to divorce me?” Haley asked.
No man could accept the idea of being cuckolded. Orion looked at her and said, “Tell me where Luna is, and I won’t divorce you.”
In an instant, Haley seemed to regain her senses. She slowly let go of Orion and took a step back. “So, you’ve been nice to me just to find out about Luna?”
“Yes.” Orion didn’t deny it.
Haley was shaking with anger. So all of Orion’s kindness towards her was just an act. And she had been so foolish, thinking that he might fall in love with her.
“So, you deliberately set me up?” Haley’s eyes turned red.
“I saw it, what? You deny it? I don’t stoop to such tactics to deal with you.”
“And yet, you still deny that you sent me the message, which led me to come here. It was all part of your plan, to frame me, accuse me of infidelity, and ask for a divorce. Your scheme is really clever, killing two birds with one stone. But, Orion, I’m not so easily bullied. Don’t think you can just dump me because of this!”
Orion frowned, “What nonsense are you spouting?” He thought Haley had gone mad to become so hysterical.
“Calm down and think carefully,” he advised.
“Even if I know where Luna is, I won’t tell you!” Haley had torn off her mask, no longer pretending.
“So it was you.” He stared at her with his bloodshot eyes and asked, “Tell me, is she still alive?”
“She’s dead, she’s dead!” Haley just wanted to make Orion suffer. She didn’t care about anything anymore. All she wanted was for everyone to be miserable since she couldn’t be happy. If there was going to be a scene, so be it. “Moreover, you can go ask your mother how Luna disappeared.”
Haley burst into manic laughter and said, “I’d like to see if you can sacrifice your family. Hahaha…”
This news was like a thunderbolt out of the blue for Orion.
Did Luna get killed?
And it was connected to his mother?
“You’re talking nonsense,” Orion refused to believe the truth of this news. He couldn’t accept Luna’s death. Nor could he accept that Luna’s death was linked to his mother. He felt the need to escape, to run away from it all.
Dina who was lurking in the shadows observed everything. Seeing Haley in such a pitiful state, a cold smile curled up at the corner of her lips. According to her plan, she originally wanted to kill Haley, but the mysterious person disagreed, so she resorted to this scheme. She sent the message to Haley, and it was she who found that man. After Haley fell unconscious, she erased the call records from her phone.
[Now that she and Orion have fallen out, she won’t have the time to bother you anymore.]
The mysterious person sent a message.
Indeed, that was the case. However, Dina still had some concerns. [Even though Evan has become a vegetable, there’s still a chance he might wake up.]
[Do you want me to kill him? No, you dare touch him, and I’ll tell Elijah everything about you.]
Dina was unwilling, but she couldn’t find any information about this mysterious person and couldn’t trace his ID either. She could only succumb to his threats.
[Got it.]
…
Country M.
This wasn’t Elijah’s territory, but through Rod Lofic’s connections and influence, he had already obtained all the surveillance footage from the hospital, as well as information about the doctors and staff involved in Freya’s surgery.
There was nothing suspicious in the surveillance footage. The surgery records showed that they had performed a cesarean section on a lifeless baby, and no resuscitation attempts were made. The body was then stored in a designated area of the hospital. The hospital assured him that they would provide any necessary information if needed. Everything seemed flawless.
“What are you suspecting? I can assure you that those people didn’t tamper with anything. They focused their firepower on my grandfather. I know you’re unwilling to believe it, and you’re investigating all this because you refuse to accept it. But some facts are not dependent on our belief, they are simply facts.” Said Rod Lofic.
Elijah raised his eyes. His gaze was filled with darkness.
“What else can I do for you?” Rod Lofic, being smart, knew that Elijah didn’t want to hear what he had to say at the moment, so he quickly changed the topic.
“This person.”
Elijah placed the information about the surgeon who operated on Freya in front of Rod Lofic. “I want all the details about him within a month. His contacts, places he visited, the more detailed, the better.”
Elijah knew that Rod Lofic had a point. They both refused to accept it, Freya didn’t want to believe it either. As a father, he had an obligation and responsibility to know everything about this. He also needed an answer from Freya.
“Alright, I’ll get you the results as soon as possible,” Rod Lofic said. “I’m leaving now.”
Elijah nodded lightly. He relaxed his expression and returned to the hospital room. Freya’s excessive bleeding had been stopped. It was due to her overly emotional state, coupled with her postpartum weakness. As he pushed the door open, he found that Freya had her eyes open.
He quickly walked to her bedside, bending down to look at her, gazing at her gently. “You’re awake?”
Freya didn’t answer his question. “I heard everything you said outside the door just now,” she rasped. Her eye sockets were sunken, and her whole body looked emaciated and exhausted.
Elijah and Rod Lofic were talking outside, not wanting to disturb her rest, but also not wanting her to hear. They just didn’t expect her to wake up so soon and hear their conversation.
Elijah embraced her, gently kissing her forehead. “Don’t think about this matter, okay?”
“It was inside my body for eight months, how can I not think about it? Do you know that all of this is because of you? If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have the baby without any preparation, and now I have to face… everything. Tell me, how can I stay calm?!”
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry…” Elijah had no words to retort. All of this was because of him. It was all his fault. Things were all beyond his expectations.
“I want to see the baby.”
Elijah held her weak body tightly. “You’re tired, get some sleep.”
He didn’t want to bring more sadness to her. Freya now couldn’t handle any stimulation.
“Kai still needs you, if you want to see him, I can take you back to see him now…”
“Don’t change the subject. Don’t worry, I’ll be fine…” Freya’s tone was resolute. “If you don’t let me see the baby, I won’t be able to rest assured.”
Elijah had no choice. He could only promise her. However, in the process, they encountered a problem later. And it was this problem that made Elijah doubt.
