Chapter 386 Up to No Good

Book:You Are My Mr Right Published:2024-6-4

“You don’t need to know who I am. Just know that Haley suspects you. You can’t keep this woman around, or else there will be endless trouble.”
The content seemed as if he had witnessed everything that had just happened.
Was he here?
Dina instinctively looked around. And there, on the second-floor corridor, she saw someone wearing a black windbreaker and a duckbill cap. The person seemed to have noticed her gaze and quickly turned away. Dina immediately rushed over, trying to catch up with the person. But by the time she reached the second floor, there was no one upstairs. She stood in the corridor, unwillingly scanning the surroundings, trying to find that person.
“Don’t look for me again, or I’ll tell Elijah about what you did to Evan.”
Dina’s heart raced with panic.
Who exactly was this person?
And how did they know about Elijah?
She immediately replied, “What do you want?”
“My goal is to help you,” came the response.
Dina’s face turned grim. “Do you think I’m stupid? Clearly, you’re threatening me.”
“You can ignore me if you want, but I’ll tell Elijah right now.”
“No, please don’t.”
Dina almost instantly replied, fearing that the message would reach Elijah before she could intervene. She absolutely couldn’t let Elijah know about what happened to Evan. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be able to stay by Elijah’s side any longer, and the consequences would be disastrous.
“I won’t tell anyone, but you have to deal with the people who suspect you.” The message read.
Dina lowered her head, staring at the message. People who suspect her?
Orion had no suspicions about her; it was only his wife, Haley, who harbored deep animosity towards her and believed she was responsible for Evan’s misfortune.
“You mean Haley?”
“You know it deep down.”
Dina fell into deep thought. Indeed, only Haley had suspicions about her. Elijah was far away in another country; he probably didn’t have time to deal with domestic matters. As for Orion, she knew a bit about his character. He would never suspect her. After all, he wasn’t adept at playing mind games. Moreover, she had a good relationship with Evan. Therefore, Orion had no reason to doubt her, especially since she considered him “naive” in his thinking.
“Hey, Orion asked me to call you,” Haley’s voice suddenly came from behind.
Dina pressed the screen of her phone to black and tightly clenched it in her hand. She turned around slowly, calmly and composedly asking, “Does he need something from me?”
There was always something admirable about being by Elijah’s side, for example, her composure. Being able to remain so calm and natural despite doing something wrong was quite a skill, to say the least.
“He called an ambulance to transfer Evan.” Haley said coldly. For some reason, she didn’t like Dina. And Dina felt the same way about her.
“I understand,” Dina quickly descended the stairs and stopped Orion. “You can’t move Evan. It will disrupt his treatment.”
“He won’t be saved here. If he stays, it will cost him his life!” Orion’s tone was resolute.
Dina tightened her grip on her hands and questioned firmly, “What if something goes wrong? Will you take responsibility?”
Orion looked her in the eye and said, word by word, “Yes, if something goes wrong, I’ll bear it.” After speaking, he turned to the medical staff behind him and said, “Move the patient to the operating room. I’ve already discussed it with this side.”
Dina got anxious. “Have you thought this through? It’s a life we’re talking about. Can you handle the consequences?”
“He can handle it, and I’ll share the burden with him.” Haley stood by Orion’s side. “It’s you who’s been obstructing us at every turn. What’s your ulterior motive?” she confronted assertively.
Orion also felt that what Haley said made sense. “Dina, Evan’s condition is critical. The medical conditions here are inadequate. By delaying further, we’re risking his life. What exactly is your intention?”
“What intention could I possibly have?” Dina looked up, showing no signs of guilt. “Evan and I have been partners for a long time. He knows me, and I know him. Everything I’m doing now is for his safety.”
“I hope you’re speaking the truth,” Haley said with a hint of sarcasm.
Dina pointed her finger directly at Orion, arrogantly questioning, “Orion! What’s the matter with your wife? Why is she always targeting me? She doesn’t know my identity, and you don’t either. Would I harm Evan? Even though we have different opinions, our goal is the same – to ensure Evan’s safety. Why is she constantly accusing me of wanting to harm Chen? Tell me, what benefit would I gain from harming Evan? Why would I do it?”
From the looks of things, Dina had been following Elijah, and she had a good relationship with both Xander and Evan. There was no reason for her to harm Evan.
Orion said, “Haley doesn’t know about your relationship with Evan. Don’t worry about her.”
At that moment, the medical staff carried Evan out, and Orion said, “Let’s all go.” Dina glanced at Evan on the stretcher, feeling anxious inside but maintaining a calm exterior. She said, “Let’s go quickly and not delay his treatment.”
Haley sneered, “Such hypocrisy.”
Orion gave Haley a stern look and said, “Stop talking nonsense.”
Saving Evan was the priority now, not arguing. Haley listened to Orion and immediately fell silent, obediently following him. The ambulance sped away, taking Evan back to the main hospital. Orion had already made arrangements there, so they took Evan straight to the operating room. Orion also wanted to go into the operating room, but since he had already resigned, he wasn’t allowed inside. He could only wait anxiously outside.
Dina stood the farthest away, feeling restless due to her guilt. Although Evan didn’t know she had arranged the accident with the dump truck, he was smart enough to suspect her. As soon as Evan woke up, she would be exposed at any moment.
Haley leaned towards Orion’s ear and said, “Look at that secretary.”
Orion hadn’t paid attention to Dina before. His mind was solely focused on Evan’s safety.
After hearing Haley’s words, he finally looked at Dina, who appeared uneasy.
“I think she’s feeling guilty.” Haley said.
Orion scolded her in a low voice, “Don’t make baseless accusations. She wouldn’t harm Evan.”
Haley felt that Dina was intentionally obstructing and harming Evan, but she couldn’t come up with a reason why.
“What makes you think she wouldn’t harm Evan? Because she has no reason to do so. They have all been working for Elijah for years, and their cooperation has been smooth. Besides, what benefit would she gain from harming Evan?” Orion reasoned.
Haley fell silent, unable to find a counterargument. Muttering under her breath, she reluctantly said, “I don’t know why, but I just have a feeling that she has ill intentions.”
“Unless you have evidence, don’t speak recklessly,” Orion warned.
Reluctantly, Haley closed her mouth.
Over an hour passed, the doors to the operating room slid open, and a nurse walked out, asking, “Who is the patient’s family?”
Dina heard the voice and immediately approached, inquiring, “How is he? Has he woken up?”
“The doctor needs to perform an examination on him now, and we require a family member’s signature for the consent form,” the nurse handed over the document. “Who will be signing?”
Orion spoke up, “I’ll sign.” He picked up the pen and quickly signed his name.
Dina grabbed the nurse’s arm and asked, “I’m talking to you, how is the patient? Has he woken up?”
“I’m just a nurse, I don’t know the details of the surgery.”
Orion pulled Dina away and said, “Don’t worry.”
“How can I not worry?” Dina knew she had been too agitated just now and quickly covered up, saying, “Mr Silverton needs him now. He’s in this situation…” She had a saddened expression.
Orion took a deep breath and said, “He should be fine.” He believed in the doctors at the main hospital. At this moment, he was reassuring himself as well.

Two hours later, the light outside the operating room turned off. A doctor in blue surgical attire came out, removing his mask. Orion walked over, anxiously asking, “How is he?”
Dina also stared intently at the doctor.
