Dina had a diamond necklace around her neck, the one Elijah asked him to retrieve.
“Dina, what are you doing?” Evan frowned.
Dina turned around, visibly flustered when she saw Evan. She was at a loss for words. But in her mind, she was thinking of a way to explain herself.
Evan stepped closer, looking at the red velvet box with a complete set of diamond jewelry inside. It was obvious that someone had tampered with it, and he didn’t need to guess that it was Dina.
“This set of diamond jewelry is quite valuable. It was obtained by Mr Silverton many years ago by chance and has been kept in the bank’s safe deposit box. I took it out this time because I wanted to give it to Freya. How could you casually put it on yourself?” Evan always thought that Dina was a capable and composed woman. How could she…?
Dina calmly explained, “I’m also a woman, and I like expensive gems like diamonds. I couldn’t resist for a moment. You can criticize me.” Caught red-handed, she had no way to explain herself. She could only try to make herself feel less embarrassed.
Evan stared at her for several seconds, took a deep breath, and said, “Take it off and put it away.”
Dina immediately did as he said and closed the box. Evan sighed as he picked it up. “Mr Silverton was originally planning to prepare for the wedding with Miss Stone, but now something has come up again. I might have to go to Country M. If there’s anything important at the company, give me a call.”
Dina knew that Freya was back and alive. She was extremely jealous inside. But she couldn’t show it on her face. After all, Freya already knew her intentions. If she wanted to stay in the company and continue as Elijah’s Dina, she had to suppress her admiration for him deep in her heart. Not a trace of it could be shown. Or her good days would be over.
“I understand. Oh, by the way, she’s back, why did she go to Country M again?” Dina asked.
“She had a little trouble. Mr Silverton went there first because he wanted to help her out.”
Dina’s heart raced when she heard this. “Freya got into trouble?”
“Yeah.” Evan sensed Dina’s excitement and scrutinized her, saying, “Why do I feel like you’re secretly happy about it?”
“How is that possible?” Dina pretended to be angry. “What do you take me for? We’ve known each other for so long, do you think I’m that kind of person? It’s true that I can be greedy sometimes, and you caught me red-handed.” Dina’s final resentful tone was clear. She knew how to dispel Evan’s doubts.
Evan held the items in his hands. Even though he had a suspicion about her, he didn’t immediately investigate. Instead, he reassured her, “Well, women like shiny things. It’s normal.”
“I might leave today. If there’s anything important here, contact me anytime,” he said.
“Don’t worry, I can handle it.” Dina smiled.
Evan glanced at her, said nothing, and turned to leave the meeting room. At that moment, his expression gradually darkened. He had a feeling that something was off about Dina. After he placed the items in Elijah’s office safe, he left the company.
Both Elijah and Evan were gone. Dina had almost full control, standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, watching Evan leave in the car with a displeased expression. She had hidden herself so well, but now Evan had discovered her. She had to think of a way out. Although Evan didn’t show much, she knew that he had formed an opinion of her. This was not conducive to her staying by Elijah’s side. Perhaps she should come up with a plan. Her eyes flickered, and it seemed like she had made a decision.

Country M.
After Freya was brought back, she was questioned by the hospital. Since the hospital had found evidence, she couldn’t deny it. In the face of irrefutable evidence, she was charged. The reason for the hospital’s lawsuit was that she leaked confidential information, causing significant losses to the hospital. This loss wasn’t just for the hospital, but also involved the intervention of the Country M government. It concerned the medical standing of Country M in the world. And Freya disrupted it. They wouldn’t allow someone with a wandering heart like her to exist in Mede, to exist in Country M. They would definitely pursue it forcefully.
“She might end up in prison.” Said Eric Lowe said. He received a call from Sivin Peters, knowing that Freya was in trouble and wanting to help. So he took the initiative to find Elijah. He even secretly had someone investigate the matter.
“The laws here don’t care if you’re pregnant or not, especially since Freya is a local. She might even be labeled as a spy,” Eric Lowe found this matter extremely troublesome.
Elijah listened expressionlessly. Even though the situation was unclear right now, he couldn’t just sit and wait. “I have some business dealings with the Lofic family. I’ll see if there’s any way to handle it.”
Eric Lowe nodded. “If you need any help, just let me know.”
Elijah didn’t respond. After reading that letter, he understood Joan Nash’s feelings for Eric Lowe. At first, he found it hard to accept. But later on, he came to understand that it was only natural. If he were to pursue it further, it would only seem heartless. Because of Joan Nash’s situation, he had misunderstood Freya before. He didn’t want to investigate anything further because of this matter.
Sacha overheard her father’s phone conversation and found out that Elijah was coming. Furthermore, the two of them had arranged to meet at a coffee shop. Evan was Elijah’s right-hand man. If Elijah was coming, Evan must be with him. So, Sacha secretly followed them.
Seeing Elijah about to leave, she pretended to coincidentally come to the coffee shop and bumped into him. She greeted him with a smile and got straight to the point, “Evan, didn’t he come with you?”
Elijah didn’t have time to pay attention to her. He sidestepped and started walking out.
Ever since Sacha discovered her true identity, she no longer dared to confront Elijah. After all, she wasn’t Joan Nash’s child nor Elijah’s half-sister. She felt unworthy. And she had lost her confidence.
“I’m not trying to bother you, I just wanted to know if Evan came with you, that’s all,” she caught up with him.
Elijah glanced back at her, annoyed, and said, “No, he didn’t.”
“Why didn’t he come? Isn’t he your subordinate?” Sacha pressed for answers.
Elijah didn’t respond to her. His face already showed impatience. Sacha didn’t know if Evan didn’t come because of her. Was he afraid she would cling onto him? She blocked Elijah’s path and asked, “Is it because he doesn’t want to see me that he didn’t come?”
“That’s his business, I don’t know. And please step aside!” Elijah’s tone was cold, devoid of any warmth. The sharpness in his eyes and the impatience on his face indicated his current mood.
Sacha moved aside, muttering under her breath, “Stingy.”
Elijah seemed to have heard it, but he didn’t respond. Instead, he got into his car.
Soon, Elijah’s phone suddenly rang.
“Mr Silverton, something bad has happened.” Dina’s voice came through.
Elijah asked expressionlessly, “What happened?”
