Sivin apologized, “I’m sorry.”
Freya had already guessed from Elena’s attitude towards Elijah that Elijah had made things difficult for Sivin. Otherwise, Sivin’s wife wouldn’t dislike Elijah so much. Freya knew what kind of person Elijah was.
“It’s okay, I know Elijah must have made things difficult for you.”
Elena, who was bringing water, heard Freya’s words and said, “It’s not just making things difficult…”
“Elena,” Sivin interrupted her.
Reluctantly, Elena closed her mouth and handed the water to Freya. “Have some tea.”
Elena didn’t know that Sivin was caught by Elijah because of Freya. If she had known, she might not have let her in just now, nor would she have poured her water to drink. Sivin usually didn’t tell his wife about his affairs. And things like Freya, it was even better for his wife not to know, just in case it caused trouble for her. Elena wasn’t a bad person. She just couldn’t stand anyone bullying her husband. She also felt sorry for Sivin. That was why she acted that way.
“What’s your name?” Elena asked Freya.
Freya smiled and replied, “I’m Freya Stone. You can call me Freya.” As she spoke, she brushed her hair again, afraid that Elena would see her scar and be frightened.
“Freya, what is your relationship with that guy?” Before Freya could answer, Elena continued, “You should stay away from him. He’s not a good person. He caused my husband to retire early and gave him a bad reputation for negligence causing loss of life…”
“Elena, I need to talk to Dr Stone. Can you let me have a few words with her?” Sivin interrupted his wife once again.
Elena got up and said, “Alright, go ahead and talk.” She walked out of the room and closed the door behind her.
Sivin sighed, “Sorry about that. She can be quite talkative…”
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Freya felt guilty after hearing Elena’s words. Sivin was being retaliated against because of her.
Sivin smiled and said, “Well, I was going to retire anyway.”
“But your career should have a fulfilling ending…”
“Those things don’t matter.” Sivin said, “As long as you’re not mad at me.” After thinking for a moment, he decided to tell her, “Elijah threatened me with my wife and child. I had no choice…”
“I understand.”
Freya said, “I know what kind of person he is.”
“I don’t know where he heard the rumors from, but as soon as he found out that the body wasn’t yours, he came after me.” Sivin still felt that he had executed the plan flawlessly. He couldn’t understand how Elijah had found out.
Freya couldn’t figure it out either, but it didn’t matter now. She took out the stack of data from her bag and handed it to Sivin. “These are research data on artificial hearts. I think they would be helpful for domestic research, but I don’t know who to give it to.”
Sivin looked at her in surprise, “Shouldn’t this be presented at a conference?”
Freya smirked sarcastically, “There’s no such thing as no boundaries when it comes to life. Boundaries exist.”
With just one sentence, Sivin instantly understood.
“I’ll take care of this.” Said Sivin.
“I trust you with it. I hope it can make our domestic medical field less passive.” Said Freya.
Sivin looked at her, his eyes twinkling with a hint of admiration, “I didn’t misjudge you.” He was relieved. He admired Freya’s abilities and vision, which were beyond his imagination. It seemed like she had the courage that surpassed her age and gender.
“I stole these things and I need to hurry back to the hotel.” Said Freya.
Sivin nodded, “Be careful then.”
Freya acknowledged his words. As she got up and walked towards the bedroom door, Sivin called out to her, “Did Elijah give you a hard time?”
Freya turned around, wondering why he would ask such a question.
“I told him that you left him for another man and that your child is someone else’s…” He quickly explained himself, “I just wanted to provoke him. He was really crossing the line.”
Freya wasn’t angry. She smiled and said, “No, he didn’t.”
“Well done. With his personality, he deserved to be provoked.” She added reassuringly.
Sivin sighed, “After I came back, I realized that if he actually believed it, he would definitely harm you…”
“I’m fine. Take good rest. I’ll go back first.”
Elena warmly escorted her to the door.
As the door opened, they saw Elijah standing at the entrance.
