The person who opened the door was Sivin’s wife. Although Elijah didn’t lay a hand on Sivin, the old man fell ill after being grabbed by him. Sivin’s wife’s expression immediately turned cold when she saw Elijah and asked with irritation, “What are you here for?!”
Then she questioned, “What? Don’t you think you’ve caused enough trouble for my husband?”
Freya glanced at Elijah.
What did he do to Sivin?
But this wasn’t the time to dwell on that question. Freya had something more important to do, so she stood in front of Elijah and smiled at Sivin’s wife, saying, “I have an urgent matter to discuss with Dr Peters. If he knows it’s me, he will definitely see me.”
“You’re his student?” Sivin’s wife asked.
“Yes, I’ve been learning from him.”
“Then come in, but he can’t.” Sivin’s wife said without a hint of politeness.
Elijah’s face turned cold. He hadn’t even settled the score with Sivin for deceiving him yet. And now he was being shut out like this? When had Elijah ever been treated like this? His expression immediately darkened.
Seeing that things weren’t going well, Freya tugged on Elijah’s sleeve and said, “Wait for me in the car. I’ll be back soon.”
Elijah refused, “No.”
If she ran away again after finally finding her, where could he find her? She had already run away twice. He needed to learn his lesson.
“I really have something important.” Said Freya.
“But that’s not possible.” Elijah firmly refused.
“Then wait for me at the door?” Freya suggested.
“That’s not possible either.”
“What do you want then?”
“I want to go in with you.” At this moment, Elijah completely lost his usual coldness. He was like an immature child, clinging to her.
Freya looked at Sivin’s wife, hoping that she would relent. “I promise he won’t harm Dr Peters.”
“We don’t welcome him in our house. I’m sorry, but I can’t trust you.” Sivin’s wife’s attitude remained firm.
The situation reached a deadlock. Freya felt a headache coming on. Perhaps when Sivin heard Freya’s voice outside the door, he shouted, “Elena, just let them in.”
But Elena still refused, standing at the door blocking the way. She spoke to Sivin, “He’s already grabbed you once. If I let him in and he grabs you again, what should we do? With your old bones, can you handle another round of wrestling?”
“I won’t die…” Sivin said.
“That’s not possible either.” Elena didn’t listen to her husband.
Freya didn’t have time to waste here. She grabbed Elijah’s hand and walked towards the corridor. “Even if I beg you, can you wait for me in the car?”
Elijah remained indifferent. “What will I do if you run away again?”
Freya “…”
So he was afraid she would run away?
“You said it yourself, you don’t not love me, so why do I have to run?” She pointed to her belly. “Can I run away like this?”
But Elijah still refused. He was stubborn like an disobedient child. Freya had no choice but to turn around and go back. She wanted to give the thing in her hand to Sivin through his wife. Once Sivin received the item, he would know what to do.
Elijah thought she was angry and pulled her back. With a big belly, Freya lost her balance when he tugged on her. She fell back, and Elijah caught her in his arms. Their eyes met, and Freya would always look away. Or maybe she wanted to hide the scar on the side of her face. Elijah knew she cared about it. He lowered his head and kissed her injured neck. In that moment, Freya’s heart felt like it couldn’t breathe. Her body trembled in Elijah’s embrace.
She opened her watery eyes, “You…”
“I’m here waiting for you.” Elijah helped her stand steady.
Freya pursed her lips and didn’t say anything. She turned around and walked away. Without Elijah, she successfully entered the house.
Sivin was lying in bed. As soon as Freya entered, he said–
