If she truly knew Freya’s whereabouts, she should be full of confidence.
Why was she so panicked?
Although Elijah became less composed when it came to Freya, he wasn’t foolish. His ability to think was still intact. Keeping a calm expression, he said, “Show me the proof of her whereabouts, and I’ll release him immediately.”
Calista was taken aback. She was completely unprepared for this, and she didn’t even understand why Elijah believed in her. Whether Freya was alive or dead, she didn’t know herself. Where could she find evidence?
“I’ve already said, release Thorne, and I’ll tell you where she is,” Calista said anxiously. “If you don’t release him, you’ll never know where Freya is.”
Hearing her words, even Evan laughed. He was laughing at her ignorance and foolishness.
This was all about Freya. Elijah wouldn’t let go of any possibility, otherwise, he wouldn’t have come to see her.
Calista was already feeling guilty, and Evan’s laughter only made her feel more uncertain. Her frantic demeanor couldn’t hide anything. She was trembling uncontrollably. Trying to maintain a calm facade, she asked, “W-why are you laughing?”
Evan responded with a harsh threat, “If you know her whereabouts, speak now. If you don’t, I’ll have someone throw Thorne into the sea to feed the fish.”
He deliberately frightened Calista. And indeed, Calista became even more panicked.
“You, you dare, you dare hurt him.” Calista’s hand hanging at her side clenched into a tight fist, trembling nervously. “If you hurt him, you’ll never know where Freya is.”
At this moment, it was a psychological battle. If Calista could hold her ground, her knowledge of Freya’s whereabouts would be her leverage. Perhaps Elijah and Evan would believe her. But she was too inexperienced, revealing her flaws right from the start.
“Since you refuse to speak, then you’ll have to watch him die.” Evan exchanged a glance with Elijah and instructed his subordinates to bind stones to Thorne’s body in front of Calista, intending to throw him into the sea.
“What are you doing!” Calista wanted to save Thorne, not harm him.
Seeing Evan actually preparing to sink Thorne, she was on the verge of tears in her desperation.
“Don’t you want to know where Freya is?” Calista shouted.
Evan seemed oblivious to her anger, ordering his subordinates to throw Thorne into the water.
A loud splash echoed as water splashed everywhere.
“I’ll talk, I’ll talk, just hurry and pull him out of the water.”
Evan remained calm. “You speak first.”
“I actually… don’t know.” She couldn’t withstand the psychological pressure. “Please, I beg you, hurry and pull him out.”
The people on the shore remained indifferent. Their cold gaze fixed on her. She was in a panic.
Kneeling down directly, she pleaded, “I just wanted to save Thorne, so I deliberately told you that Freya is still alive. But I don’t know if she’s alive or dead, and I don’t know why you easily believed me.”
Fear filled her face. “I’m begging you.”
“Pull him out of the water,” Elijah said calmly.
His subordinate dove into the water and pulled Thorne out. He was soaked, and any longer in the water, he might have drowned.
Calista rushed over and tore off the tape on his mouth. “Are you okay?”
Thorne coughed, water spraying from his nose and mouth. He couldn’t speak for a moment.
“What does he say? He’s your cousin, release him. I promise to watch over him and make sure he doesn’t do anything bad again.” She pleaded, looking at Elijah. Since she didn’t know where Freya was, Elijah wouldn’t waste any more words with her.
“Evan, take him away.”
Even if there was evidence now proving that Freya was still alive, Thorne had strapped a bomb to Freya and kidnapped Kai. These were facts. How could he let someone who had harmed his wife and child go?
“Wait!”
Just at that moment, someone appeared, calling out to Elijah.
Seeing the newcomer, a smug expression appeared on Calista’s face.
