Who was playing this prank again?
Elijah’s first reaction upon seeing the message was that. Ronan had done it before. And now he was overseas. He couldn’t possibly repeat the same thing.
So, who was it this time? And what did they want?
Knowing that it was intentional, Elijah still replied to the message, “You know her whereabouts, then tell me, where is she?”
After sending the message, he tossed the phone aside but kept his gaze fixed on it. Deep down, he still hoped that it wasn’t a trap but a miracle.
“I can tell you, but there’s a condition,” the reply came, and Elijah picked up the phone.
Reading the content, he remained calm, as if he had anticipated it.
“What do you want in exchange?” he typed.
“You release Thorne, and I’ll tell you where Freya is.” Came the response.
“Fine.” Elijah replied. After sending the message, he immediately called Evan.
“Check if anyone has been in contact with Thorne recently.” He instructed.
“Okay,” came the reply before he hung up.
At that moment, another message arrived on his phone, “We’ll meet at Pier 7.”
Elijah looked at the message, a hint of mockery curving his lips.
Did they really think they could escape at the harbor? Choosing this location clearly indicated their intention to flee the country by boat. Nevertheless, he agreed, “Alright.”
He wanted to see who was willing to save Thorne Silverton.
Could it be Colton Silverton?
After all, Thorne was his son. It was only natural for him to take action.
…
Riverside Haven Mental Hospital.
Thorne had given up struggling. The nurse Calista had spent a lot of time investigating and finally found out that Thorne was being held here. So, she applied to become a staff member here, and through her search, she discovered that Thorne was being kept in isolation. She performed well at work and bribed people to get the job of delivering meals to Thorne. Thorne was on a hunger strike, hoping to find release through this method, but the director made sure he received nutrition through injections, ensuring he wouldn’t die. Nevertheless, they still brought him meals every day. But he never touched them.
“Stay alive, and I will save you.” Calista whispered.
Thorne slowly raised his eyelids and looked towards the door. There was a hole beneath the iron door for food to be delivered to him. He was living worse than a dog; dogs had their freedom, but he didn’t. However, he couldn’t recognize whose voice it was.
“Thorne, Thorne…” Calista called out to him.
Finally, his eyes showed a reaction.
“You… how did you come back?” Thorne was surprised to see Calista.
“I came to save you.” She replied.
Thorne felt like he had heard a joke.
“You save me? Can you defeat Elijah?”
Thorne had lost everything, let alone a girl who had no strength.
“Believe me, I really have a way.” Calista insisted confidently. She seemed full of confidence in this matter.
“What’s the plan?” Thorne asked.
“I will message Elijah and tell him that I know where Freya is…”
“Freya is dead. He won’t believe you.” Thorne thought this plan was foolish.
“No, he will believe me. He must be the person in this world who wants Freya to be alive the most. I will say that I know where Freya is, and I will exchange her information for your release,” Calista believed that this plan was still feasible.
After all, things had been going smoothly so far.
Thorne laughed, “You’re really foolish. Even though he hopes Freya is alive, he’s not stupid. I heard that he hasn’t cremated or buried Freya yet. He has kept her body preserved. Once he verifies it with a DNA test, he will know she’s dead. Your plan will fall apart.”
Calista didn’t know that Elijah hadn’t buried Freya. She had been so confident before, but now she was at a loss. “What should we do then?”
“Calista, you can’t save me. Don’t get involved.” Thorne said.
“No, I will save you. I must save you.” Calista lay on the ground, looking through the food delivery slot to see him.
Suddenly, Thorne felt like the biggest reward in his life was a woman. He had fallen so low. Yet she hadn’t abandoned him.
“Thank you,” he thought. If he could get out, he would treat her well.
“You said if Elijah verify Freya’s body and he’ll be sure she’s dead. But what if he doesn’t verify? We still have a chance.” Calista said, looking at him. “Don’t give up. Eat well.”
Thorne looked at Calista, wondering if it was too early for him to give up.
“Alright, I’ll follow your advice and eat.”
…
Elijah sat on the couch, lost in thought, while Kai lay on his leg, playing with a toy dog. He had never doubted Freya’s death. His subordinates said that when they rescued her, she was unrecognizable, severely disfigured. After that, he had identified that body as Freya’s.
But was that body really hers?
He was not sure at this moment.
Later, Elijah dialed a number.
