The woman answered smugly, “She’s from Country Z, and she has been making waves at our institute. This time, the director even specifically recommended her for promotion. Her chances of becoming an attending physician are very high. If we use some means, she will definitely take the position. I added some allergy medication to the bath mixture I prepared for her and that Country Z guy.”
“The news of her possible dismissal must be because that shareholder from Country Z thinks her medical skills are inadequate.” The woman continued.
“Alright, darling, go take a shower. We should celebrate.” The man said with a suggestive tone.
The woman pouted, “You’re so mean.”
…
On the way back, sitting in the car, Freya remained silent.
Jeff asked, “If we hand over the video we just recorded to the hospital, those two will be finished. Why are you so gloomy?”
“I don’t like playing dirty tricks. I didn’t expect them to be scheming behind the scenes.” Freya said.
“Well, it’s a competition for the position of attending physician at Mede. With that title, they could easily become directors at other hospitals. Of course, they would fight for it,” Jeff explained.
Freya sighed, chin resting on her hand. “Jeff, if we release the video, they won’t be able to stay at the hospital. What do you think?”
“People like them shouldn’t be at Med.,” Jeff responded.
Freya’s expression turned serious. “Although I sympathize, I’m even more angry.”
Jeff nodded. “I understand.”
As they arrived at her residence, she got out of the car and closed the door, saying, “Be careful on your way.”
“Okay,” Jeff replied.
As Freya walked towards her house, Ronan intercepted her.
“Who was the guy who brought you back?” Ronan asked.
Freya replied, “A colleague.”
She was tired and she wanted to rest.
“Ronan, I’m really exhausted.”
“Don’t you want to know about Zane?” Ronan asked.
Freya slapped her forehead, realizing she had forgotten about that.
“Come, let’s go inside.”
Ronan wore a pained expression. “Does that mean if I’m useless to you, you’ll just throw me away?”
“You’re a person, not an object. How can I throw you away?” Freya replied.
“Tell me,” Freya said, sinking into the couch as they entered the house.
Ronan pulled up a chair and sat in front of her. “Here’s what happened. Your family’s company is going bankrupt because Zane and Luna got close.”
Freya frowned. “What does Luna have to do with this?”
“Luna’s ex-boyfriend is Orion, and Orion’s wife had a miscarriage. It seems Orion’s mother blamed Luna and joined forces with the Holt family.” Ronan explained.
Freya instantly became unsettled. “How could this happen? Luna would never do such a thing. She’s above that!”
“These are the findings of my trusted sources. It can’t be false.” Ronan assured.
Freya had personally witnessed Haley Holt bribing someone to hang a banner at her own wedding, shifting the blame onto Luna. And now, Freya harbored deep doubts. She suspected that the miscarriage was Haley Holt’s doing again.
“So, what are you planning to do?” Ronan asked. “Are you going back?”
It was a crucial time for her career, and she might not be able to go back. Besides, even if she rushed back, she couldn’t do much.
“Let me think,” she said, desperately trying to stay calm.
Ronan noticed her pale complexion. “You’re pregnant and still going through all this.” He stood up. “Let me go buy you something to eat. You haven’t had a meal, have you?”
Freya fell into deep thought, not hearing his words. Ronan walked out and headed to a restaurant, buying some nutritious food. Later, he returned carrying the food.
…
Evan found out Jane’s address from the hospital and came to pick her up to go to the hotel. Elijah needed her massage to fall asleep. But as soon as Evan got out of the car, he saw Ronan, holding food.
How did he end up here?
Evan found it strange and decided to follow Ronan into the building.
