GABRIEL
I hurriedly grabbed my car keys and rushed out of my ofice, heading straight to my car. The moment those girls informed me about Catriona’s situation, I hit the road. Thankfully, this highway was empty, allowing me to drive freely without encountering many cars that could potentially block my path. I was
relieved and grateful for this stroke of luck.
It troubles me that she left my house without saying anything and has started ignoring me without giving me a reason whenever she sees me. I have decided to take a step back and patiently wait for her to return and explain why she is treating me this way. I hope those girls can handle whatever situation they are facing and keep Catriona safe until I arrive. Catriona’s safety is my main concern. If they fail to protect her, they will regret ever becoming involved. And to whoever harmed her, I swear i will not only disable them but also end their life.
I drove past Jayden’s house, and shortly after, I caught a strong scent that made me abruptly stop the car. I jumped out, shifted into my wolf before crashing into the woods.
I ran through the woods with two thoughts in my mind: Save mate and kill the bastards. As i ventured deeper, my stomach twisted at the putrid stench of rotting flesh, which could only mean the presence of bloodsuckers.
A mysterious light in the woods grabbed my attention, causing me to pause and wonder about its origin. However, the scent of Catriona, which had been strong, suddenly faded. Ignoring the sharp tree branches that were scratching my fur and piercing my skin, I ran towards the light. Eventually, I arrived at the spot, only to witness a man vanishing into an open portal.
“Holy mother! ”Could it be-‘” the portal started closing, cutting me short. Without hesitation, that pumpkin was taken through it. I ran towards the closing portal and leapt in.
Damn these witches! How could they create such a horrible portal that feels like space? No, it feels like a womb. I felt a horrible headache coming on, and I have no idea how long it will take for it to spit me out. Thank the moon goddess I’m not with the red moon pack alpha, or he would be getting on my nerves. It’s all his fault we’re in this situation. Fuck him! It’s all his fault.”
I took a deep breath of fresh air, closing my eyes. At first, I thought it was all in my head, but I needed it desperately. I felt like I was suffocating. Suddenly, I collided with the ground, groaning as the impact reverberated through my joints. I got up, hoping to find the same witches Jayden and I had encountered before. However, I was surprised to see that there were many more of them.
I Stood there, frozen in disbelief at the sight of the witches surrounding every corner of what I could say a yard. Their presence sent shivers down my spine, and couldn’t help but feel a sense of foreboding. The familiar two-headed woman now approached me, her eyes fixed on mine.
It’s nice to see you again, wolf boy,” she said. However, my focus was solely on finding Catriona and rescuing her from whatever dangerous situation she was in.
I saw her, and our eyes met. Her eyes widened, and she opened her mouth as if to speak. However, she abruptly stopped and turned away from me, facing a red moon girl. My heart skipped a beat, but at least she seemed safe. Most importantly, she wasn’t scared. I let out a sigh and turned my attention to the witch.
“What deal do you have with my mate?” I asked. Perplexed, the witch raised her eyebrows, showing her lack of comprehension in english.
“Oh, you mean the human girl?” she said, casting a glance at Catriona. I gritted my teeth.
She stood before me, her dark eyes filled with a mix of curiosity and mischief. Her long, tangled hair on both heads cascaded down her shoulders, giving her an ethereal appearance. I took a step closer, my voice steady but tinged with a hint of caution. “Excuse me, whatever your name is, I am talking to you. What interaction is it between you witches and my mate? I asked.
The witch’s lips curled into a sly smile as she turned to face me fully. It wasn’t intentional, but bad luck seems to follow her, causing her to end up in places where she’s not welcome.
She dramatically sniffed me. I smell a bloodline of alphas. It’s amusing that you can’t tell something unusual about her. She said as she briefly flew her eyes in catriona direction. That human girl holds a secret, one that I am intent on uncovering.
My heart skipped a beat at her words. She babbled that it’s Catriona’s bad luck that brought her here but I couldn’t shake off the feeling that there was something more to this encounter, something beyond simple curiosity.
“What do you mean by secret?” I asked, my voice betraying my concern:
The witch’s four eyes gleamed with a mischievous sparkle. “Wolf boy, that is for me to know and for you to find out,” she replied cryptically. “But fear not, for I and my people mean her no harm. I am merely intrigued by the power that emanates from her.
A mix of relief and confusion washed over me. It seemed that the witch’s intentions were not malicious, but her interest in Catriona’s powers as she blabbered still left me uneasy. What is she even talking about? And what is this power she speaks of” And how am I supposed to face Catriona when she’s basically been avoiding me? I thought to myself. I turned to the witch whose eyes on catriona.
I don’t get it… “What is this power you’re talking about?” I inquired, trying to get as much information as I could.
The witch chuckled softly, her voice carrying a hint of mystery. “Ah, those are questions that I don’t have answers to. But mark my words, there is something extraordinary about that human girl. She said and sauntered away.
Before she could go any further, she slowly marched back to me. “Remember what I told you, wolfboy. It’s crucial,” she said, emphasizing the significance. “Resolve any distance you two lovebirds have. And
remember, you’ll be closely monitored. I don’t want to repeat my past mistake.” She said and licked her left thumb before pressing it against my chest. I groaned, the pain pulsating through my veins like fiery pricks. I collapsed onto my knees as Catriona’s voice broke out, unable to reach me. Her closeness alone could be enough for me. I held my head so tightly, as if not doing so would cause it to burst, And just like that, I felt lightheaded and empty. It was then that the realization struck me like a silver pang– I had lost my wolf. I couldn’t feel my wolf. Looking up I noticed the witch had already disappeared from sight, I had an overwhelming urge to scream and pursue that witch, to extinguish her life. However, I felt weak and didn’t want to show it to Catriona. She would be scared.
How could this happen now? How am I supposed to protect her? It’s not that I can’t, I can, but my wolf and I are one spirit- we’re partners in crime.
As I was pondering what to do, someone suddenly touched the back of my head, causing my vision to blur. Although my eyes were shut, my ears remained alert, allowing
me to grasp what was happening around me. I sensed multiple hands holding and shifting my body. This unnecessary physical handling seemed out of place. There was nothing mysterious about this location that warranted being knocked down or having our eyes covered.
Moments later, I was gently placed on a soft surface. I sensed hands at the back of my head again and with that, I was able to open my eyes. The people who had carried me walked out and closed the door behind them. I looked around the room I had been placed in and noticed its size and vibrant atmosphere.
I struggled against the numbness and managed to get up. Suddenly, the door burst open. I was hoping to see the witches, but to my surprise, it was Catriona they had brought in. She didn’t appear scared; instead, she seemed confused and hopeless, unaware of my presence.
Before I could fake a cough to get her attention, she noticed me. The first thing she did was jerk back in terror. I took a step forward, but she quickly shut her eyes and raised her hand in the air, letting out a scream that made me stop. “STOP! Don’t come any closer!” she screamed, banging on the door while calling out for someone to open the door for her.
My heart ached as the woman I adore, my mate, reacted to me as if I were some kind of monster who would harm ner. It truly breaks my heart. Her fear-filled eyes pierced through my soul, and I could feel the weight of her mistrust of something I have no idea bearing down upon me. It was a pain that cut deep, like a jagged knife twisting in my chest. How could the woman I adore, my mate, view me as a monster capable of causing her harm?
I was feeling bored and exhausted at that moment. I realized that I needed to put an end to this madness, so I decided to confront her more assertively. Frustrated, I let out a sigh and swiftly turned her around to face me, holding her hands. “You’re doing too much, pumpkin. It’s time for you to tell me what happened that made you hate me, I demanded, looking directly into her eyes.
