JAYDEN
I led Luciana to one of the elegant guest rooms, where she confided in me the desire to take a long shower to rid herself of the lingering human scent, which indicates Catriona. My heart twitched for a bit however I encouraged her to go ahead. She then asked me to join her, and I couldn’t resist, as I had secretly longed for a moment like this. I yearned to feel her gentle touch once again.
As I was about to accept the offer, my wolf objected, convinced that she wasn’t our mate. Despite my efforts to disregard him, his noisy protests made it nearly impossible to concentrate. His overpowering presence rendered me incapable of silencing him.
For a moment, I despised the moon goddess for matching me with him. Why wouldn’t he support me when we were both reunited with the woman we loved so deeply?
It appears you’re still uncomfortable with me being here. That’s okay, I understand. It wasn’t my intention to come back from the dead. She whispered, her expression filled with despair and disappointment. My wolf made it difficult for me to breathe. I despised him, and the only option I had was to give her a look that she would understand. Before we were separated, whenever I couldn’t express something that might hurt her, I simply gazed into her eyes, where she understood the unspoken code. For a moment, I believed my wolf. But thankfully, she smiled, stepped inside, and closed the door behind her. I exhaled, feeling relieved that she was able to remember that.
With a smile on my face, I silently stood at the closed door to the bathroom, listening to the sound of running water from the shower. The drops of water cascaded down her gorgeous body, filling my mind with enticing thoughts.
I couldn’t help but feel a surge of anticipation and desire building within me. The sound of the water created a soothing melody, almost like a seductive lullaby that calls me closer to her. My heart raced with every drop that fell, imagining the sensation of those droplets against her soft skin As I stood there, my mind wandered to the moments we had shared together. The laughter, the intimate
conversations, and the stolen glances that had ignited a flame between us. This moment, listening to the water caress her body, felt like a tantalizing invitation to explore our desires once again. With each passing second, the steamy mist escaping from under the door teased my senses, heightening my longing for her. I could almost picture her silhouette through the fogged-up glass, the water droplets glistening on her curves like tiny jewels. The thought of tracing those droplets with my fingertips sent shivers down my spine. Lost in my thoughts, I couldn’t help but imagine the steamy embrace that awaited us once she stepped out of that shower. The anticipation was electric, making my pulse quicken and my breath hitch. I longed to hold her close, to feel the warmth of her skin against mine, and to taste the passion that lingered in the air.
All my fantasies were shattered when my wolf clawed out, threatened to burst through the door and reveal Luciana’s true identity.
I stormed out of the room, feeling agitated. I headed to my office and locked the door before venting my frustrations. Enough already, beast. If you can’t stop, I’ll make you.
Were you faking your happiness for her all that time?” I asked, my veins swelling up.
Don’t get me wrong, Jayden. You know my feelings towards her were pure. She was our mate. If you did, why can’t you just stop all this nonsense. I interrupted him. “It’s because you refused to see the truth. You’re blinded by Luciana, who isn’t even real, he replied. Listen, man,” he continued, his tone lower now. “All the good times we had with her are in the past. They’re just memories. We have Catriona now. She’s our mate. Open your eyes man.
If I don’t do something about my wolf, he will continue to give me a headache. I don’t want anything that would distract me in front of Luciana. l went to my safe, unlocked it and retrieved a small bottle of serum. Holding the bottle in my hand, I never expected to use it this way, but have no choice. l know he’s going to resent me for this. “What do you plan to use that for?” Beast asked. I ignored him and swallowed the serum without hesitation, despite his protests and lectures. Closing my eyes, I felt the warm liquid glide down my throat. It tasted terrible.
I was relieved to see that he was finally asleep. With a sense of determination, I headed towards the door to find the woman who had captured my heart from the moment I laid eyes on. Although I spoke the words with excitement, my heart couldn’t fully agree with them. I wondered what could be causing this inner conflict. Could it be some kind of spell cast by my wolf? Pushing aside this possibility, I opened the door. Lost in thoughts of my beloved one, Luciana, I didn’t notice Vanessa approaching until she called out to me snapping me back to reality.
”Do you have a moment?” she asked. “Not really,” I replied curtly, continuing on my way. “Wherever you’re rushing to, I think you should listen to what I have to say first. It’s really important.” She insisted. Not wanting to act like a child in front of this witch, who also happened to be one of my oldest pack
members, I stopped and turned back to her.
‘Make it quick,” I told her, gesturing for her to enter the office.
She didn’t let me sit down when she went straight to the point.
That woman isn’t Luciana, she’s sophie. You’re being blinded by… Right there. I interrupted her before she could continue. “Is this what you wanted to talk to me about?” I asked, my tone gruff and serious, my face turning red. I closed my eyes briefly before opening them and locking eyes with her. I was enraged, feeling like I could kill her if she kept talking, but she seemed unfazed by my anger, determined to continue. Respecting her, I excused myself before I did something I would regret later. As I walked out, I heard the door swing open and Vanessa saying she would do it her own way.
I approached the door of Luciana’s guest room and felt my heart pounding as if I had run for miles. Just as I was about to open it, she opened the door herself, standing in front of me with only a towel wrapped around her body. I watched in ecstasy as she dropped the towel off her body. Before I could fully appreciate the beauty in front of me, she abruptly grabbed my shirt, forcefully pulled me inside, and dropped me onto the bed.
As she climbed up, she enveloped me with her legs and pressed her lips against mine. The kiss felt unfamiliar, perhaps due to her recent return from the dead. Our lips met, and a wave of mixed emotions washed over me. It was a bittersweet sensation, a blend of longing and confusion. The touch of her lips against mine was tender and gentle, yet there was an undeniable sense of otherworldliness to it. I could feel the faint chill of her breath, a stark contrast to the warmth that usually accompanied a kiss. It was as if she was carrying a piece of the afterlife with her, a residue of her journey back from the great beyond. The taste of her lips, once so familiar, now held a hint of something ethereal, something I couldn’t quite put my finger on.
Her kiss carried a weight that went beyond the physical realm. It was a reminder of the miracle that had brought her back to me, defying all logic and reason. The intensity of our connection was undeniable, but it was tinged with a hint of uncertainty. How could I fully comprehend the experiences she had gone through, the journey she had taken to find her way back to me? Yet, despite the strangeness of the moment, I couldn’t deny the overwhelming flood of emotions that surged through me. In that instant, I realized that it didn’t matter how different this kiss felt, or how much her presence defied the laws of nature. What mattered was that she was here, with me, breathing life into our love once again.
As our lips parted, I looked into her eyes, searching for answers, seeking reassurance. And in that moment, I saw it– a glimmer of the same love and longing that mirrored my own. It was a silent affirmation that we were in this together, bound by an unbreakable bond that transcended life and death.
She slipped her hand under my shirt and caressed my body, pressing herself against me. Her nipples were erect and craving my touch. “I missed you, my Alpha,” she gasped, her breath heavy with desire.
I paused for a moment, captivated, before gently taking both of her hands. “What did you just call me?” I asked, my tone unromantic. She stared at me, clearly taken aback by my sudden change in demeanour. “You’re not Luciana, are you?”
