PAMELA
I stood on the window in Vannesa’s room, marvelled at how Catriona was being treated like a rug by that rotter ghost camouflaged in Luciana’s skin. It drives me nuts that that sham is using my image to make Catriona look nutty in front of the pack’s eyes. In this state, I’ll die with apprehension if I don’t get down there and expose that venom to everyone. Jayden is an Alpha. Isn’t he supposed to see that she’s not luciana? The question dried on my lips when he took her hand in his and took her away. Wow… I can’t believe him. He’s hurting Catriona. I feel bad for her.
Aguishly, defeated, I leisurely distanced myself from the window and sat on a small solid wood coffee table, recalling Catriona’s upsetting eyes when her boyfriend chose her friend, who she thinks is me over her. I buried my face in my hands with a heavy sigh, feeling like a loser. “What is the use of being a witch when I can’t help my friend?” She must be hating me now.
“Who wouldn’t, though?
I know you want to help her as much as I do, but please, don’t think of stepping out of this house. You know what I mean, “Right? Vannesa said. I turned to her. She looked lost in thoughts. I know it very well, vanessa… You okay? I asked, snapping her back.
Get off that table now. She hollered, startling my heart out.
OMG, Vanessa…you startled me. I whisper-yelled.
Excuse my behaviour. You know we have no time to waste. I need a hand here. She said, handing me a mini bag full of different essentials and coloured candles.
I placed the bag on the table and walked back to the window. Where did she go? I shouted. “Who?” Vannesa asked. Catriona. I’m not seeing her. Where do you think went? I asked. Where would she go now other than in the house? Did you expect her to stall in one place and cry her eyes out dry. Vannesa said.
I stormed out and went to search for her. I have to clean my image first, and then we can unmask that wench. If she came inside, she definitely went upstairs or went to see her brother. Her brother is the most important person in her life, so I presume he and their grandmother would be the first people she’d want to see. I headed to their wing, and thank God I found them moving along with others, heading over to the dining hall to have their breakfast. This wing looks ignorant about the situation in the house. Nevertheless, I must confront the old woman and find out Catriona’s whereabouts first. Before I could move any inch, she pulled out the phone and came to a halt with a frown.
Must she be talking to Catriona? I wonder.
I steadily walked to her and got a glimpse of a message “alone for some time” before she closed it. Was what I read correct? Wait, does that mean she’ll close herself inside her room? I hope she doesn’t go on hunger strike.
Now that I got what I wanted, I left the old woman and went back downstairs. I began pacing around the elevator area, fighting the urge of heading up despite Jayden’s desist. I sat on my haunches with a foiled shout. I should not waste my time like this and go help vannesa with spells.
I rose on my feet and leisurely ambled toward our wing, but as I neared the kitchen, I heard the murmuring coming from the dining room. I stopped and strained my ears.
They quietly started talking in whispers, comparing Catriona and Luciana and talking about why they dislike Catriona.
I barged in and looked at all of them baffled. Is your alpha aware of making his mate a topic? They all turned their eyes at me.
And who are you woman? One of them asked amusingly. She stood from her seat and ambled toward me, weighing me up and down with a smug face all tall, muscled, and looking wolfy.
I asked, “Woman, who are you and how is it your business?” Sha asked, levelling me with her deadly eyes.
I’m an old woman who can blaze that smug off your face. And for your information, it’s my business, too. The person you’re talking behind your freaking backs is my friend. So you people must put some respect in her name because she’s your alpha’s mate. “GOT IT.”
She gave the shocked pack members a side glance before swaying her eyes back at me, her face turning colour.
She got close to me, so close I could feel her breathing hot. She grabbed my dress so hard and heaved me on the floor. That was so bitchy of you. My ass hurts. I cursed under my breath but enough for her to hear. I looked up at everyone. Most of them had their heads down looking scared or they didn’t want to get involved. And others were amusingly smuggling like they’re watching a funny movie. With a satisfied look, she began walking back to her seat.
I rise up on my feet, rubbing my butt’s. The bitch’s haul was hard and unexceptional.
So you’re the big boss here full of bitchy attitudes. I asked, not scared that she could shift this time and rip the life out of my ass. The whole room went quiet, staring at me like I don’t value my life. And they’re right. She’s a terrifying woman. If I wasn’t a witch I’d be so stupid to mess with her. I bet she’d be fascinating while liquidating me.
She stalled and spun around to face me.
Yes bitch. Do that. Just lay your hands on me once again and I will show you what it means to be a badass. Just make that mistake again darling. I thought to myself.
What’s going on here? Why is there so much tension? Is there a problem? A woman’s voice echoed from behind. I turned to her.
There’s nothing serious, godmother. This enormous woman said.
So she’s the godmother Vanessa told me about everybody respects– We were just getting to know each other. Right, stranger? She said, glueing her eyes on me.
Godmother drew close to me with a sceptical look that said she’d like to know who I was. Of course this house is full of people for them to know who their guests are unless they’re important guests.
Hello, godmother. I’m called Pamela. I’m your Alpha’s friend and his mate’s good friend. I heard a lot about you. Nice meeting you. You too. She said, flashing me an authentic smile. Pardon me if I talk too much. How do you know Cate? She asked. I see you don’t call her by her full name. I said, making her smile more. I won’t say I know her much but I do know she’s a sweet girl. I smiled back.
Case in point, you know what happened. The house is in a catastrophe. I’m looking for Catriona because she needs someone by her side and that would be me, I think so- but haven’t got a hold of her. If by chance have seen her, please tell me.
Alpha will be here any minute from now. Everybody get in your seats. Another woman tied in a kitchen robb older than godmother voiced__ She’s definitely upstairs in her room. Godmother continued- I believe every person would want to be left alone for some time. Let’s not worry much and do that for her and then we can talk to her after she’s cooled down. With that she lightly patted my shoulder and joined the rest.
I blew out a ragged breath and swept out in anger colliding with a young woman that looked like she’d die any moment. She staggered, fighting a fall until two identical women rushed to her and steadied her. The look she casted me is enough to grate human flesh alive.
“My bad.” I said to her and I strode abroad, heading back to the elevator. I’m aware that Alpha Jayden stopped us all from going up but I can’t just wait here. He won’t even notice thanks to that phoney. Why is he so scary? Whatever. I’m a witch to be intimidated by a werewolf alpha. I pushed the elevator button and heard a ding. The door chimed before smoothly sliding open. It always smells good. As I was about to step in I noticed Sandra. She was pacing back and forth rumbling.
She let out a low deep yelp. This is driving me insane. It’s not safe out there for her to leave alone. I should have gone with her. She spoke out non stop making me march to her.
Are you talking about Catriona? I asked, pulling her attention to me. Where did she go?
She told me she wanted to be alone. I understand that but what are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be with her, at a safe distance? I know… and am already feeling terrible. She Snapped. She ran a hand through her bob cut hair cursing. “Fuck, why did luciana come back.” How did she come back from the dead to start with? Things were getting back to normal. Now is not the time for that. We have to go after her before she gets in trouble. I said curtly. Please, let’s do that. She agreed.
She led the way and swung the huge door open and stepped out. I came to a halt right as Vannesa’s words rang in my head. Just a moment. I said and rushed back in the dining room, averting everyone’s eyes on me.
I went to get Catriona, in case Vannesa asked for me. I said to Godmother before skittering back to join Sandra out. We leapt into the woods following Sandra’s leaps thanks to her wolf’s senses she can track Catriona’s scent. I could feel the energy take its course through my veins. We have to be quick or else I won’t make it to her before they find me. I said to Sandra who didn’t seem to hear me.
“Do you hear that?” She asked. Hear what! I asked obtusely. I strained my ears but heard nothing. It’s Catriona. Where? Where is she? Sandra drifted forward and crossed to the other side of the woods. She stalled before turning back at me.
It’s Catriona’s phone. She said, making me spring over. What is her phone doing here? She added. The phone rang again. Sandra frowned at the caller ID. I snatched it out of her hands and I made the same face. Who’s “GM2.” With a small smile of hope I answered the phone and was surprised to hear that other handsome alpha.
Why are you answering Catriona’s phone? He asked in a strong deep voice. Wasting no time, I rambled on about everything without giving him a space of breath.
Hand the phone to that red moon pack girl. He graved, making my heart skip. As I passed the phone to Sandra a piercing scream from deep in the woods rattled us both. We exchanged looks and spoke at the same time. CATRIONA. She’s deep in the woods. Get on my back. She said and took a step back and shifted into a beautiful white wolf. I was still admiring her wolf when he growled at me lowering for me to mount on her back.
She charged through the woods at a high speed I’ve never seen, avoiding the twigs.
The people in my clan must be close because my veins are on fire, it hurts like hell. Sandra slid me off her back with an aggressive growl and lurched for the vampire who had Catriona in his arms, his fangs bared close to Catriona’s exposed neck.
