Ranita’s eyes held a faint smile.
“Why aren’t you saying anything, Miss Murphy!” Ranita’s gaze passed over Shannon and fell on the man standing in the shadows at the door.
“Perfect, all parties involved are present. Let’s speak openly and clear things up.”
Shannon looked as if she had seen a ghost, swaying unsteadily and pale-faced. It took her a while to force out a sentence, “Brendon…”
The door was pushed open slightly, and the tall figure of a man slowly walked in, calm and composed, but radiating a suffocating and terrifying aura.
Shannon felt as if her neck were being choked, unable to catch her breath! But soon she realized it, her eyes turning red. She reached out and grabbed the man’s arm, “Brendon, I… I didn’t come here to cause trouble for Ranita. Today, it seems like I made a mistake, and I was planning to apologize to you.”
“At Boulderland Mansion, I was wrong. I’m sorry… Can you forgive me?”
Ranita admired Shannon’s composure. Even at this moment, she could still remain so steady.
Brendon looked at Shannon with cold eyes, indifferently pushing her hand away. “Shannon, were the things you just said true?”
“What did I say just now… I…” Shannon pretended to be innocent, pitifully saying, “Brendon, I had an argument with Ranita just now, and I said things out of anger. I spoke without thinking…”
“Shannon, are you still planning to continue deceiving me?” Brendon had just learned from Carlee about Shannon’s fake pregnancy, but he didn’t expect to hear Shannon admit it with her own mouth…
Not only was the pregnancy fake, but they had had sex at all.
Brendon was angry, but his heart unexpectedly relaxed.
Because of that mistake, he had felt guilty and couldn’t be too harsh on Shannon. Now the truth turned out to be like this…
“Brendon…” Shannon knew she couldn’t hide it anymore. She felt extreme resentment in her heart, but at this point, she could only find another way to make amends.
“I… I just cared too much about you, that’s why I lied!” Tears streamed down Shannon’s face, her body trembling, as if she might faint at any moment.
“I waited for you for three years, waiting for you to fulfill your promise to me, waiting for you to marry me and take me home. I was so afraid, I had no sense of security, always worried that you would change your mind, afraid that you would say you don’t love me anymore… Brendon, I really didn’t mean to lie, I just cared too much about this relationship.”
Shannon cried, her voice broken like fragmented rain, full of sorrow and grievance.
But Brendon remained unmoved.
He looked at Shannon with indifferent eyes and spoke, “These can’t be reasons for you to deceive me.”
“Shannon, you deceived me for four years!”
Brendon’s emotions were incredibly complex. His compassion for Shannon had become a sharp weapon in her hands, not only hurting him deeply but also deeply hurting Ranita.
Brendon felt extremely guilty towards Ranita.
“Come with me, don’t disturb Ranita and Ayaan’s rest.” Brendon turned around, but Shannon held onto him. She fell to the ground, her eyes already swollen from crying. “Brendon, please… Don’t be angry with me, okay? I really didn’t mean to. I cared about you too much, that’s why I made this mistake. Brendon, can you forgive me, please?”
Shannon choked up to the point where she couldn’t speak, her pitiful face looking up at Brendon, truly miserable.
But Ranita felt no sympathy at all.
All of this was self-inflicted by Shannon.
