Chapter 613 Anger

Book:A Successful Career After Divorce Published:2024-6-4

Steve had been away for so many days before finally making a phone call.
Ranita had also spent a long time abroad and had traveled to many different places for business, getting to know people from various countries. The places where international medical teams provided assistance were often extremely impoverished and had harsh environments. Outbreaks of infectious diseases were common there.
“Why are you coughing? Are you sick?” Ranita’s voice choked as she spoke. “Steve, can you please not stay there? Can you bring Yasmin back with you?”
Upon hearing her almost crying, Steve felt really uneasy. “Ranita, I just arrived here, and I’m not accustomed to it yet, so I have a slight cold and cough. I’m a doctor myself, so it’s not a big problem!”
“You really don’t need to worry about me.” After a pause, Steve asked, “How is Ayaan? Is he doing well? Does he miss me?”
“What do you think! Ayaan used to be with you every day, of course, he misses you!” Ranita replied, then added, “I’m on a business trip in Kurima, not at home.”
“Oh, I see…” Steve chuckled softly. “How are you and Brendon getting along?”
“What can I say about him…” Ranita muttered. “Don’t mention him. Tell me about your situation. Can you give me an address? I know many friends who might be able to send you some things.”
Steve declined, saying, “I don’t need to worry about food and clothing here. Ranita, please don’t worry about me! I’ll take care of myself.”
Despite saying that, Ranita was still extremely worried. However, the call suddenly got disconnected after a few sentences.
Ranita tried calling back, but couldn’t get through.
Ranita was already having trouble sleeping, and now she was even more restless, tossing and turning in bed…
It was deep into the night when she finally fell into a drowsy sleep.
“Ding dong!” Ranita was awakened by the doorbell. She crawled out of the blanket and, like a lost soul, went to open the door.
“Who…” She didn’t finish her sentence as a long and slender hand pushed open the door, and she looked at the tall figure in confusion as he entered and closed the door.
“Ranita!” A familiar voice came, and Brendon’s gaze fell on her chest.
Ranita’s sleepwear was a bit disheveled, especially around the neckline, revealing a patch of fair skin.
Only then did Ranita realize what had happened. “What are you looking at! Turn around!”
Ranita regained most of her consciousness and quickly adjusted her clothes, glaring at him in anger. “Get out! I need to change.”
Brendon looked at her for a moment with deep eyes. “You change, I won’t look.”
Ranita gritted her teeth. “Get out!”
Seeing her furious, Brendon didn’t say anything and left. However, he waited outside the door for a long time, but Ranita didn’t open it.
“Ranita!”
Ranita ignored him and calmly packed her things.
Brendon came in and immediately called her. Ranita pressed the end call button. “I don’t want to see you.”
“Hmm? Why?” Brendon asked.
“No reason, I just don’t want to see you!” Ranita became furious at the thought that this jerk went to Shannon’s house last night.
“Did I make you angry?” Brendon hit the nail on the head with his question. Ranita snorted coldly, “No! I’m not angry.”
Brendon chuckled softly. “Then you should open the door. How else can you vent your anger at me?”
Ranita wanted to retort, but she thought it made some sense.
“I won’t fall for your tricks!” Ranita’s voice was filled with gritted teeth. “You better leave quickly. I don’t want to see you.”
Brendon caught a glimpse of Ranita’s feelings for him through that cellphone, and now he felt invincible.
