Ranita was extremely uncomfortable, holding her breath.
Brendon remained silent, just looking at her quietly.
The atmosphere was cold, as if the air had solidified. The man and woman locked eyes, neither of them speaking, just immersed in silence.
Ranita felt her forehead go numb from being stared at.
She acted on impulse.
She had intended to persuade him, but she had brought up Shannon for no reason and inexplicably gotten angry, making herself more tense and resentful.
“I’m sorry, I wasn’t very pleasant earlier,” Ranita pursed her lips. “The doctor asked me to persuade you. You got into trouble because of Ayaan. I hope you can leave the hospital after fully recovering, so that there are no future complications. It would make me and Ayaan feel uneasy.”
“Of course, if you insist on leaving the hospital, I’ll respect your decision,” Ranita paused, lowering her gaze and not looking at him. “That’s all I wanted to say. I’ll go now.”
“Ranita!” There was a breeze behind her, and shadows moved. Brendon quickly grabbed her wrist. “Wait.”
His fingers were warm, still carrying a hint of moisture, pressing against her wrist. Instead of feeling cold, they were even hotter.
The man walked in front of her, his tall figure casting a shadow.
“Ranita, are you worried about me?” Brendon’s heart suddenly beat faster, especially knowing that Ranita had him in her heart. He couldn’t control his heart anymore.
“No… I’m just afraid you won’t recover fully if you leave the hospital, and something might happen in the future for which I’ll be responsible…” Before she could finish her sentence, Ranita’s chin was held, and her eyes widened.
Cool lips forcefully covered hers.
The friction made her lips instantly turn scorching and passionate. The previously bitten wound throbbed again. Brendon’s arms tightly held her waist, continuously pulling her into his embrace, as if he wanted to merge her into his body.
Ranita’s bones ached from the embrace.
Her lips and tongue felt numb from the kisses.
“Brendon…” Ranita intermittently uttered unclear words, but the remaining words were swallowed by his kiss.
Brendon kissed urgently, his body feeling like a scorching fireball, enveloping her in steam.
Ranita didn’t like this feeling of losing control.
But her mind was disobedient, and even her limbs became weak, making it difficult for her to stand steady.
…
Just as Ranita was about to suffocate, Brendon finally let her go.
The man’s dark eyes stared at her, breathing heavily. Then his forehead touched hers, and he tightly embraced her with both hands.
Ranita’s heart was in chaos, like fireworks bursting in the sky.
She shouldn’t have come! Now she was being bullied by this jerk Brendon again…
“Let go of me!” Ranita struggled and pushed Brendon away slightly. The intense kissing had wrinkled her clothes, and to her embarrassment, the collar of her top had shifted to one side.
She quickly adjusted it, her face turning red.
She said, “I’ve said everything I needed to. Whether you listen or not, it’s up to you!”
“And I’m not yours. Don’t touch me, or I’ll report you for harassment!”
Ranita wanted to leave quickly but was stopped by Brendon.
Ranita became impatient. “What do you want?”
Always kissing without taking responsibility, you scumbag!
After cursing Brendon in her heart, Ranita lowered her eyes with a grievance, suppressing all her emotions, and said with a composed expression, “Brendon, let me go.”
“Come with me!” Brendon pulled her hand and walked inside, picking up a document from the table and handing it to Ranita. “Here.”
“What?” Ranita looked at him in confusion, listening to him say, “Jadeite, it’s for you.”
