“The set of jadeite you bought at the auction?” Ranita looked at him in surprise. “Wasn’t it supposed to be for Shannon?”
“It’s for you,” Brendon pursed his lips. “This is the delivery voucher, and I have already informed the boss.”
Ranita was still a little confused. How did it end up being for her? Wasn’t it supposed to be for Shannon?
“If you give it to me, aren’t you worried that Miss Murphy will be angry with you?” Ranita lowered her eyes, her voice somewhat cold. “When the time comes and you regret it, what will you do? Will you take it back from me?”
If Shannon found out, she would definitely do something like that.
However, Ranita had no intention of accepting it either.
“Brendon, I don’t like it, and I don’t want to accept it,” Ranita rejected him, placing the document on the table and turning to leave.
“Ranita!” A cold angry voice echoed, and she was pulled back again.
Ranita instinctively took a few steps back, her heel hitting the table leg, causing her pain and making it difficult for her to catch her breath. But before she could react, the man had already approached her and pressed her against the edge of the table.
His tall figure was strong and powerful, exuding a dangerous aura. “If Augustus spent money on it, then you should have it, right?”
“Brendon, you…” Ranita had initially been filled with anger, but upon hearing his words, she suddenly didn’t know what to say. She stared at the man blankly and asked tentatively, “Are you angry because of Augustus?”
“I thought I made it clear, Ranita!”
“Where did you make it clear? Brendon, you scumbag, what have you done besides bullying me?! You’re nothing but a complete jerk!” Ranita was so angry that she punched the man’s shoulder. “Get away from me, I don’t want to talk to you!”
The man, who had been exercising regularly, had strong shoulders. Ranita’s punch didn’t hurt him, but her own hand trembled.
Brendon held her hand, his skin turning red and even a little bruised. His voice lowered slightly. “You hit me so hard!”
Ranita was already feeling wronged, and being told that made her even more furious. “I don’t need you to worry about it, just leave.”
But Brendon didn’t leave. Instead, he helped her massage her reddened fingers.
Ranita blushed, and even her spine felt hot.
“Let go.” Ranita couldn’t bear it anymore. Her mind started to feel dizzy. “I…”
“I’m sorry! I shouldn’t have been so harsh just now!” Brendon apologized in a low voice, his voice exceptionally gentle. He pulled her into the warm water, and warmth flowed through her heart.
Ranita’s heart softened.
The anger in her heart disappeared completely.
Ranita cared about him after all. That was why she couldn’t stay mad at him with just one apology and a few soft words.
“Augustus and I are just friends,” Ranita said, and then she felt that she didn’t need to explain herself. She continued somewhat guiltily, “I wouldn’t accept something so valuable.”
Suddenly, Brendon seemed to be happy.
“Hmm!” The man rubbed her fingers again. “Then you can accept it for Ayaan’s future wife.”
Ranita was speechless.
