She didn’t say a word!
Lily took out the invitation card first, smugly muttering to herself, “I have a front-row ticket!”
“What about you? Are you sitting in the back row? Your boyfriend doesn’t look wealthy either. I guess he’s not from a rich family.”
“Only you would think that!”
Ranita’s gaze turned cold. “Excuse me, please move aside. I’m going in!”
Lily walked inside, her eyes fixed on Ranita, wanting to see her invitation card.
This auction celebration was quite grand, so different invitation cards were prepared based on the guests’ status. The front row had golden cards, the second row had red ones, and the rest were blue.
The invitation cards represented one’s status.
Ranita took out her invitation card from her bag, and Lily froze, her face turning red, an exciting sight to behold!
“It’s actually a golden card!” Lily gritted her teeth in frustration.
Ranita calmly walked past her, took a few steps, and then turned back, handing her the invitation card. “Miss Lane, I’m sorry! It seems I’m in the VIP area at the front.”
Lily’s expression grew even uglier, and she snorted before running away.
Ranita was in a great mood.
Just as she was about to sit down, Augustus returned and handed her a cup of coffee. “Your brother said you like this!”
“Thank you!” Ranita was perceptive and looked at the coffee in her hand and then at Augustus. “Augustus, you…”
Augustus was a smart person and noticed her unusual gaze. He immediately waved his hand in panic. “Don’t get any strange ideas! You’re Jedidiah’s sister, and I’ve always treated you like my own sister! You can rest assured! I have no ulterior motives towards you!”
“Besides, if Jedidiah found out, he would kill me!”
Ranita giggled. “Oh, so you’ve chosen my brother over me?”
“Of course! We’ve had a close relationship since childhood! If he didn’t care about you, I wouldn’t bother with you either!”
Ranita was overjoyed. “My brother is lucky to have you!”
“That’s true!” After a pause, Augustus leaned closer and asked, “Have you seen the list? Which number do you want to bid on for the painting?”
Because the price wasn’t very high, they could choose from the front.
“The third one!” Ranita had just finished speaking when a startled cry came from behind, “Ranita! What are you doing here?”
Ranita looked up, and her smile faded from her lips.
She really shouldn’t have gone out today.
“Ranita, we have such incredible fate today. We met at the counter, had a meal together, and now even at the auction!” Shannon said softly with a gentle smile. “If someone didn’t know any better, they’d think you’ve hidden a camera between Brendan and me!”
“Shannon, why are you talking nonsense with her?” Holly glared at Ranita, her eyes wide with anger. She asked in a furious tone, “Ranita, what were you doing with my brother and Shannon all day long?!”
Her voice grew louder, and people started looking over in their direction.
Ranita looked at her calmly. “Do you want to have an argument here?”
“Who wants to argue with you! It’s because you have no shame. Shannon and my brother went out to date, and you followed along. Have you no shame?!” Holly coldly snorted, looking like she was about to explode.
“Holly, calm down a bit!” Shannon immediately tried to placate Holly. “It must be a coincidence. Why are you getting angry about it?”
As she spoke, Shannon suddenly waved and beamed. “Brendan, over here!”
A figure approached, and Ranita instinctively looked up, locking eyes with Brendan. In her mind, the image of the kiss in the parking lot involuntarily appeared.
It was deep and passionate.
But then he turned around, cold and heartbroken.
