Shannon’s eyes welled up with tears as she clung pitifully to Brendon’s arm, snuggling up close to him.
“Brendon, how are you feeling? Is there anything uncomfortable?”
“If you’re uncomfortable, just tell me.”
Ranita watched coldly and caught Brendon’s eye. She was surprised to see him a little nervous.
“Shannon, let go for a moment. You’re pressing on the needle.” Brendon pushed Shannon away gently but she held onto his fingers like an octopus.
“Brendon, I’ll just hold your hand then!”
“Brendon, I want to apologize to you. I was upset with you before and got angry because you didn’t come back to Kurima. Now that I know you’re hospitalized, I feel regretful and I know I shouldn’t have been angry.” Shannon spoke softly and suddenly turned to Ranita, saying, “Ranita, can you take care of Brendon for these two days?”
“Thank you!” Shannon bowed to Ranita, her voice filled with gratitude. “Ranita, you’re really amazing!”
Ranita felt a bit disgusted and took a few steps back. Her voice turned cold as she said, “The nurse and Allen are taking care of him, no need to thank me.”
“Regardless, I still want to thank you, Ranita! I won’t be by his side these few days, and you’ve taken good care of him…”
Ranita couldn’t bear it anymore.
“This is… your lunch. I’ll leave now.” Ranita placed the lunchbox down and turned to leave.
“Ranita…” Shannon chased after her. As soon as she appeared, curious people immediately looked over.
Ranita didn’t want to be surrounded, so she said calmly, “Sorry, I have something to do. Please speak quickly.”
“Ranita, sorry for taking up your time.” Shannon’s voice became soft and she took out a bank card from her bag. “Ranita, I’m really grateful to you. There’s some money in here, as a token of appreciation for you.”
“Thank you for taking care of Brendon. I’m here now, so I’ll take care of him from now on!”
Ranita lowered her gaze and looked at the bank card. She sneered inwardly. So it turned out she was treating her like a nurse or a maid!
“Miss Murphy, you’re too kind! Brendon and I were once husband and wife, so it’s nothing major for me to take care of him while he’s in the hospital.”
“No need for this money! I think your complexion doesn’t look too good. It might be better to buy some more face masks and use them.”
Shannon’s eyes welled up with tears. “Ranita, what do you mean? I just wanted to thank you, why are you speaking like this…”
“What do you mean, how am I speaking? If you think I’m being rude, Miss Murphy, don’t come close, so you won’t cry later and say that I’m mistreating you.”
Ranita took a few steps, then suddenly turned back.
Shannon nervously looked at her. “Ranita, what are you going to do?”
“Why are you so nervous, Miss Murphy!” Ranita pushed the door open and walked up to Brendon.
Brendon felt a bit nervous and anxious. He wanted to explain, but the fact that Shannon was his fiancée was known to everyone, and his explanations seemed feeble.
“Ranita…”
Ranita also felt uncomfortable. She had originally planned to wait until Ayaan was discharged before talking to Brendon, but now that his fiancée had arrived, she, as his ex-wife, had no place to stay here.
Ranita took out the bank card and placed it on the table, speaking softly, “Brendon, this is one million, as a token of appreciation for you. Additionally, I will cover all your medical expenses.”
“Wishing you a speedy recovery!”
