Ranita turned and walked away.
“Ranita!” Brendon’s face darkened as he grabbed her wrist.
“You’re giving me money?”
“Yes! It’s an appreciation fee. If you think it’s not enough, just let me know, and I’ll give you however much you want.”
“Ranita!” Brendon’s face turned pale with anger. Was this woman trying to dismiss him with money? She’s so heartless!
“I’m not deaf, there’s no need to shout like that! Besides, Miss Murphy is here, don’t scare her…”
Brendon glanced at Shannon, feeling miserable. Just when his relationship with Ranita was starting to improve, Shannon suddenly appeared. He knew how this would end.
“Shannon, strike while the iron is hot. The three of us should sit down and talk.”
As soon as Shannon heard this, she had a bad feeling. “Brendon, you’re still in the hospital! Let’s go back to Kurima and talk about it later!”
Shannon reached out to support Brendon, but he quickly blocked her hand and said, “Shannon, in front of Ranita, I want to make things clear. I…”
“No, I don’t want to listen!” Shannon’s eyes welled up with tears. She looked at Brendon pitifully and said, “Brendon, ever since you met Ranita, you’ve been acting strange. You didn’t want to return to the country when you were in Berlin, and now you’re refusing to go back to Kurima…”
“Do you still have feelings for Ranita?” Shannon’s tears streamed down her face. “Brendon, you promised me before you got married that you would divorce her and be with me!”
“But you’ve been divorced for four years, and you still won’t give me an official status…”
Brendon didn’t say a word, and Shannon was overwhelmed with grief, crying inconsolably.
“Brendon, I’ve waited for three years, and then another four years. What else do you want from me…” Shannon cried and ran towards the balcony.
“Shannon!” Brendon chased after her and held her firmly. “Shannon, calm down!”
“I… I don’t want to live anymore… Let go of me and let me jump from here!” Shannon struggled and cried, but her hands tightly grasped Brendon’s sleeve, showing that she didn’t really want to jump.
Ranita didn’t disrespect life, she just didn’t want to respect Shannon.
She watched the spectacle unfold and said with a hint of playfulness in her voice, “Brendon, Miss Murphy seems to be emotionally unstable. You should comfort her properly!”
Brendon frowned, feeling helpless.
“Shannon, please calm down.”
“I can’t… Brendon, you know you’re everything to me. If you don’t want me, I’d rather die!”
“I’ve been having nightmares for the past couple of days. I dream about our child, our first child, but we never had the chance to be a family! I’m so miserable, so heartbroken! Brendon… I beg you, please don’t reject me.”
Shannon’s voice was already tender and filled with tears, each word carrying a sense of grievance that evoked sympathy in others.
Ranita pursed her lips, tempted to applaud.
“Shannon, calm down! I didn’t say I don’t want you…” Brendon pursed his lips but glanced at Ranita.
“Is that true? Will our wedding proceed as planned?” Shannon looked at Brendon with teary eyes, full of deep affection.
Ranita’s heart sank into a muddy pit. She was also waiting for Brendon’s answer.
“Shannon, let’s discuss this later. Stop crying and calm down for now…”
But Shannon refused to give up. “No! Brendon, give me an answer, please!”
Brendon hesitated as he looked at Ranita, whose eyes were as dark and bright as stars, but could no longer illuminate her heart.
