Shannon knew what was going on, but she couldn’t say it out loud.
Her pale face looked extremely fragile and pitiful as she choked out, “I don’t know what’s going on! But Brendon is convinced that the child is his! I had an accident in Steland this time and unexpectedly ran into Ranita again. I even heard Brendon say he wants to remarry her…”
Shannon burst into tears, becoming a weeping mess. “What should I do? This time I fell ill, and Brendon didn’t even bother to come back.”
Holly immediately flared up in anger. “Ranita is shameless! How could that child possibly be my brother’s? How dare she let him acknowledge it?!”
“Mom, what should we do?”
Amiya’s expression wasn’t too pleasant.
Back when Ranita suddenly disappeared, Amiya and the others were happy for quite a while. With Shannon being diagnosed with depression, Brendon reluctantly agreed to marry her.
But four years had passed, and Brendon never mentioned the wedding.
This matter worried not only Shannon but also Amiya.
“Holly, step out for a moment. I need to talk to Shannon,” Amiya dismissed Holly and immediately asked, “Shannon, what are you thinking?”
“I…” Shannon sobbed. “Ever since he returned from Berlin, I’ve been feeling anxious. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have had that accident in Steland. I don’t know what to do. If Brendon really wants to remarry Ranita, I… I might die.”
“Silly child, why are you talking nonsense? I won’t let anything happen to you! You’re going to be the mistress of the future Boulderland Mansion, and that won’t change!” Amiya paused for a moment, pondering, and then asked, “Ranita isn’t the issue. Since they’re divorced, it doesn’t matter anymore! I won’t let her enter Boulderland Mansion again.”
“The trouble now is that child. If the child is indeed Brendon’s, we’ll have to bring him back to the family.”
Shannon widened her eyes, biting her lip. “I’ve seen the child. He’s over three years old and quite cute. He’s still young and shouldn’t be involved in adult matters.”
“You have a kind heart. The child is young, and if we bring him here, he’ll forget about Ranita,” Amiya said.
“I also think the same way. If Brendon wants to bring the child back, I’m willing to take good care of him,” Shannon said.
Upon hearing this, Amiya smiled with relief. “That’s good! Although it has caused you distress, we’ll make it up to you in the future!” After finishing her conversation with Shannon, Amiya left with Holly.
Curiously, Holly asked, “Mom, what did you talk to Shannon about? Why did you keep it from me?”
“Why are you in such a hurry? I’m about to tell you,” Amiya looked at Holly, hesitating in her heart, but someone had to handle this matter.
“Mom, please tell me!” Holly urged.
“Go to Steland and find that child. If he’s Brendon’s, bring him back. If not… don’t be polite to Ranita, tell her to stay away,” Amiya said.
She was asking her to go to Steland and find Ranita?! Holly raised her eyebrows in surprise. “You can rest assured! I won’t let Ranita succeed. She wants to seduce my brother using an unknown child. I’ll make her regret it.”
Holly immediately went home to pack her things and bought the fastest plane ticket to Steland.
Ranita stood outside the ward for a long time, from day to night, but neither the child nor the adult woke up. Just then, she heard hurried footsteps behind her, followed by a strong force pushing her against the wall.
