When Ranita regained consciousness, she found herself lying in a hospital bed. Her head was still spinning and her vision was blurry for a while before she could make out Brendon sitting beside her.
Ranita recalled what happened before she fainted. After getting off the elevator, she ran into Brendon…
“Ranita! Are you okay?” Brendon approached and reached out to touch her forehead. “No fever. Did you forget to take the medicine I gave you?”
Ranita had taken it before leaving for the airport but forgot about it afterwards.
“I took it!” Ranita got up and got off the bed as she spoke. “I’m fine!”
“You fainted! How can you say you’re fine?” Brendon held her down and stared at her with a serious expression. “Don’t get up. Wait until the IV drip is finished.”
Ranita glanced at the time. It was almost ten o’clock!
She took out her phone and saw several missed calls from Jedidiah! Ranita was about to call him back when Brendon took her phone away.
“You want to call him?”
“Can’t I?” Ranita tried to grab her phone back, but Brendon avoided her and said, “You need to rest! I’m here, and I don’t want to see Jedidiah.”
Ranita chuckled softly, “If you don’t want to see my brother, you can leave! Give me back my phone!”
Jedidiah would worry if he couldn’t find her.
Brendon pursed his lips and looked at her with a cold and disdainful anger in his eyes.
“Suit yourself!” Brendon returned her phone, and Ranita immediately called Jedidiah.
“Brother…”
“Ranita, where are you? Why didn’t you answer the phone? You scared me!” Jedidiah’s voice was hoarse. “If you don’t call me back, I’m going to call the police!”
“I’m sorry, brother!” Ranita paused and explained, “I felt a little dizzy and rested for a while. I didn’t hear the phone ring.”
Benedict was sick, and Jedidiah had to manage the company and take care of the family. He was already exhausted, and she didn’t want to worry him further.
“You’re sick? Where are you? I’ll come find you!” Jedidiah asked anxiously. “What about Ayaan? Is there someone taking care of him? Should I bring him home? Mom can look after him.”
Ranita pursed her lips. “Forget it. I’ll have Olivia take care of him at the hotel.”
“I’m much better now, so don’t worry about me. See you later.”
Ranita glanced at Brendon and quickly ended the call.
“Did you come to Steland for Jedidiah?” Brendon’s tone carried a hint of questioning, making Ranita feel uncomfortable.
“Mr. Stuart, I appreciate your help earlier, but my personal matters have nothing to do with you.” Ranita got off the bed as she spoke and pulled out the needle from her arm.
“Don’t bother me. I have things to do.”
Ranita’s coldness and detachment made Brendon feel uneasy.
“Ranita!” Brendon grabbed her hand and enveloped her slender body with his figure. His other hand pressed against her waist.
“You’re sick, and you’re not allowed to go anywhere!”
“Brendon, let go! Where I go is none of your business!” Ranita pushed him in annoyance, but the man’s strength was strong, and he stood firm like a wall.
Ranita became even more infuriated.
“Brendon!”
“I’m here!” Brendon replied softly, bending down to lift her and place her back on the bed. “I’ll call the nurse to give you another injection!”
His palm pressed against her shoulder, strong yet warm. Ranita’s eyes reddened in anger. “Brendon, don’t you understand human language? I told you not to interfere!”
In an instant, Brendon leaned over, pinning her down beneath him. His cold face was filled with anger as he stared at her.
