Ranita clenched her fists, wanting to argue and defend herself. But she knew that Benedict’s illness was largely her fault. So, Ranita felt incredibly guilty.
Not just guilty, but also regretful.
“Chole, this is a hospital. I don’t want to argue with you!”
“Don’t want to argue? Then don’t bother coming back!” Chole paused before smirking coldly. “Ranita, don’t forget what you promised me when you moved out of the family!”
How could Ranita forget?
When she got accepted into Kurima University and was packing up her things, Chole found her and told her not to come back after going to Kurima – preferably even change her residency.
Ranita agreed.
“Chole!” Jedidiah stopped Chole. “Dad is sick, and you still want to act this way? I’ve told you many times before, the past has nothing to do with Ranita. She hasn’t harmed you…”
Bringing up the past triggered a strong reaction from Chole!
“She hasn’t harmed me? Jedidiah, why are you so biased towards her? I am your real sister…”
“Chole!” Jedidiah truly lost his temper. “Go back home immediately! Otherwise, don’t call me your brother anymore!”
Chole gritted her teeth and looked at Ranita. She was resentful, but Jedidiah was also important to her.
“Ranita, are you satisfied now?” Chole snorted coldly and turned around to run away.
Ranita pursed her lips and said to Jedidiah, “Jedidiah, you go check on Chole to prevent any accidents! I’ll take Ayaan to the hotel to rest, and I’ll come back later.”
Jedidiah hesitated and said, “Ranita, let me take you to the hotel. Ranita, you know Chole didn’t mean it. Don’t stoop to her level.”
Ranita lowered her gaze and murmured, “Jedidiah, she’s my sister. I won’t take it to heart.” Pausing for a moment, Ranita’s voice became slightly hoarse as she said, “I lost control of my temper just now. I’m sorry.”
Jedidiah didn’t say anything.
In fact, sometimes this silent acceptance made Ranita feel even colder. It seemed that no matter where she was, she was destined to always be the one who had to give in…
“Let’s go check on Chole.”
Ranita knew Chole’s personality, which could be extreme. If something happened, it would be truly irreparable. Jedidiah was also worried. He sighed and said, “I’ll go check on her. Be careful on your way, rest a bit, and come back when it’s daylight!”
Ranita regretted not seeing Benedict right away. She sent Ayaan to the hotel and asked Olivia to take care of the little kid.
Ranita hurried back to the hospital, and it was almost dawn.
She was already sick, and the journey had been exhausting. Without resting after getting off the plane, Ranita not only felt dizzy but her legs and hands also started to weaken. She couldn’t muster any strength!
Staggering out of the elevator, she unexpectedly bumped into Brendon.
“Ranita? What are you doing here?” Brendon was surprised.
Ranita was also surprised. She thought Brendon had returned to Kurima! Her mind turned, and she vaguely wondered if Shannon might be in this hospital too?
This was truly too coincidental!
“I… visiting a patient!” Ranita said, but then she felt her vision darken, and her consciousness seemed to be suddenly taken away… Faint cries reached her ears.
“Ranita! Ranita!… Ranita!”
The world spun, and Ranita felt as if she was embraced by a warm hug, catching a faint scent of grapefruit. Then, she passed out.
