In the car, the atmosphere was awkward.
Ranita stared out of the window in a daze. She had taken cold medicine and her head was still spinning, making it difficult for her to think too much. So she decided not to say anything.
“Ring ring!” Just then, Ranita’s phone rang.
Ranita glanced at it and immediately answered.
After hanging up the phone, she successfully asked Brendon with a helpless expression, “Brendon, can you drive a little faster?”
“Ayaan got into a fight at kindergarten!”
“What? Is he hurt?” Brendon immediately expressed concern for Ayaan. Ranita felt touched by this.
“I don’t think so. We’ll find out when we get to kindergarten.”
Upon arriving at kindergarten, Ranita got out of the car first while Brendon hurriedly followed behind, “Slow down! Your ankle isn’t healed yet!”
As he spoke, Brendon reached out and grabbed her arm.
Before Ranita could resist him, half of her body was already nestled in his arms. “Don’t be stubborn! If you get hurt again, you might not be able to walk for many days. Do you want to lie in bed all day?”
Ranita couldn’t argue back.
“Cynthia! Long time no see! You finally made it!” Ayaan’s teacher greeted them with an embarrassed expression on her face, “Elio just fought with Billy. I’m sorry it happened because I was busy arranging other children in line and didn’t see what happened…”
“They’re not hurt, are they?” After asking this question, Ranita saw Ayaan running towards them before she could receive an answer from his teacher. He threw himself into his mother’s arms and cried pitifully, “Mommy, I’m sorry!”
“Is anyone hurt?” Ranita squatted down and touched the little boy’s cheek. She was about to ask what happened when Billy’s mother screamed in anger, “Are you Cynthia, Elio’s mother? Your son inexplicably hit my son. What are you going to do about it?”
After speaking, the blonde woman pushed Billy forward and pointed at the red and swollen bump on his forehead. “Take a look at this!”
There was a red mark on Billy’s forehead, and it looked like it was caused by some kind of impact.
“Ayaan, did you hit Billy?” Ranita asked, and Ayaan pouted his lips. After a while, he nodded and said, “Yes. I’m sorry!”
“But Billy teased me first. He said I don’t have a dad and won’t come to the sports day!” Ayaan’s eyes turned red with grievances.
Ranita felt uneasy inside. “Ayaan, even though Billy provoked you first, it’s not right to hit him.”
“Ayaan, apologize to Billy!”
The little boy pouted and seemed reluctant. But seeing the serious expression on Ranita’s face, he sincerely apologized to Billy, saying, “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have hit you.”
Ranita followed up, “Mr. and Mrs., I will cover Billy’s medical expenses.” She paused for a moment and continued, “Now, I would also like Billy to apologize to my child.”
The blonde woman clearly disagreed.
But Brendon suddenly stepped forward, holding Ayaan’s hand, and said, “Madam, I am Ayaan’s father. I ask that your child take responsibility for their words and actions.”
With a stern face and the natural air of someone in a position of authority, Brendon left the other party speechless.
Billy was reluctant, but he still apologized to Ayaan.
“Alright, now that everyone is okay, let’s take a rest for a while. We will be participating in the activities soon.”
As the class teacher left, Ayaan opened his eyes wide and asked Ranita, “Mommy, is Uncle Stuart going to be my new dad? Does that mean I will have…”
Ranita quickly interrupted him, “No! He was just…”. She paused for a moment, unable to bear seeing Ayaan disappointed, so she changed her statement. “He’s just temporarily playing the role of your dad this afternoon!”
