“Yay! I have a new dad!” Ayaan immediately jumped up in excitement.
Forgetting about his mother, he quickly hugged Brendon’s leg and called out to him in a soft, sweet voice, “Uncle Stuart, Mommy said you can be my dad this afternoon. Can I call you Dad now?”
Happiness came too suddenly!
Brendon felt like he had been hit by something sharp and sour yet satisfying at the same time. He picked up little boy who looked just like a small baby version of himself and nodded, “Of course you can!”
“That’s great! Dad, can you win the running race against Billy’s dad later?” Ayaan hugged Brendon’s neck and asked with a crisp voice, “He said his dad used to be an athlete and is really good at running! Can you beat him, new Dad?”
Could Brendon say no?
“Don’t worry! I will bring back first place for you!” Brendon was full of confidence while Ranita couldn’t bear to dampen his spirits.
Billy’s father was a retired athlete who ran like the wind during the last family activity day.
Ranita chuckled softly, “You go get ’em!” She then pulled Ayaan aside and whispered to him, “Uncle Stuart is only temporarily filling in as your father so…”
Ayaan nodded understandingly, “I know.”
The sports day was lively, but Ranita wasn’t feeling well, so she stayed on the stands watching Ayaan play with Brendon.
Brendon was very patient with Ayaan, which surprised Ranita.
Soon, it was time for the running event.
“Daddy, go for it!” Ayaan shouted happily, his dark eyes shining in the sunlight, filled with admiration.
Ranita’s heart felt both sour and uncomfortable.
Her guilt towards Ayaan grew even stronger…
“Daddy, aim for first place!”
Brendon on the track heard their voices and smiled at them, looking incredibly gentle.
Although Brendon was accustomed to exercising, this was the first time Ranita saw him running. He looked like a cheetah, exuding strength and a captivating charm throughout his body.
Despite having an oriental appearance, Brendon’s looks, physique, and height made him the most outstanding figure on the field, capturing the attention of the entire crowd.
Ayaan excitedly cheered, and Ranita became nervous alongside him.
The competition was intense, as Brendon’s opponent was a professional athlete, albeit retired, and not easy to deal with.
They were nearing the finish line, but Brendon was still slightly behind.
“Mommy, cheer for Daddy!” The little boy tugged at her hand, bouncing around in excitement. Ranita was caught up in the atmosphere and joined in, shouting, “Brendon, go for it!”
Her voice wasn’t particularly loud and was quickly drowned out by the noisy crowd.
However, Brendon seemed to have heard it. He glanced at her and suddenly unleashed all his strength, overtaking Billy’s father and securing first place!
“Ah, Daddy is in first place!” Ayaan cheered excitedly. “Mommy, Daddy won the first-place medal for me!”
At that moment, Brendon walked over, panting, with sweat glistening on his cheeks from the exertion. “Other people’s families are handing towels and water to their husbands…”
Ranita handed him the water. “Here!”
Brendon took a few gulps and took advantage of the situation, bringing his head closer. “I have so much sweat on my forehead, could you help me wipe it?”
Ranita was speechless.
Looking left and right, she noticed that the other wives were helping their husbands wipe the sweat, while she stood there unusually composed.
“Mommy!” Ayaan tugged at her hand.
Ranita helplessly said, “Come closer!”
