Ranita was both angry and anxious, about to squat down to fix her shoe when someone beat her to it.
“Don’t move!” His hand held onto her ankle.
Brendon’s palms were always warm, the temperature seeping through his skin and turning into a fiery heat that rushed straight towards Ranita’s heart, making it feel scorching hot.
“You go away!” Ranita pursed her lips, speaking harshly. “You don’t need to worry about me!”
Brendon firmly held onto her ankle and looked up at her. “If you move again, your heel will break.”
Ranita was scared stiff.
Brendon carefully helped remove the heel from where it was stuck in a crevice and asked, “Did you twist your ankle? If you did I can help you sit down for a bit.”
“No!” Ranita said coldly. She noticed some dirt on his fingers which made her feel sour inside.
Brendon had a slight case of cleanliness obsession and disliked people getting too close to him. At the beginning of their life together, he was quite particular about things. However, as time went on, he slowly got used to it, and with Ranita’s good habits and constant compromises, their marriage sailed smoothly for three years without any surprises.
However, calm waters are only surface deep, and in the end, they still parted ways.
“Your fingers are dirty,” Ranita took out a wet tissue and handed it to him. “There’s no place to wash your hands here, so just wipe them.”
“Thank you!” Brendon accepted it and even smiled at her.
The man stood by the roadside, not wearing a suit, but still tall and with long legs, causing passing beauties to turn their heads. Initially, his unwelcoming face scared off many people, but now…
He was handsome and charming.
A bold beauty approached him and struck up a conversation, saying, “Hey handsome, care to have a cup of coffee together?”
Ranita gritted her teeth.
This man couldn’t stay put anywhere!
Anger clouded her judgment, and she reached out and grabbed Brendon’s hand, coldly refusing, “Sorry, he’s busy!”
Ranita pulled Brendon away quickly.
After walking for a while, Ranita noticed that Brendon had taken her hand from behind. She shook it off and said, “Where do you want to go? Piran is not that big; besides flowers, the sea, there’s nothing much to see!”
“Just walk around casually.”
Ranita had lived here for several years, but she hadn’t really explored thoroughly. The road was a bit challenging to walk on, and Ranita’s high heels weren’t very comfortable. But since someone insisted on walking, she had no choice but to grit her teeth and keep up.
“Wait!” Suddenly, Brendon pulled her into a shoe store. “Hi, do you have any comfortable shoes that would suit her?”
The female shopkeeper recommended a comfortable pair of shoes, but they had a somewhat outdated design.
“Why are you buying shoes for me?”
“Sit down!” Ranita was pressed into a seat before she could react, and she found Brendon helping her take off her shoes and replace them with the ugly ones recommended by the shopkeeper.
“What are you doing? I don’t need to buy shoes!” Ranita protested. “And don’t touch me!”
Brendon glanced at her and said, “Noted, but I refuse to comply.”
“As a tour guide, you have to walk a lot, and wearing high heels will make you tired,” Brendon reasoned as he paid for the shoes. “I apologize for the inconvenience, but it’s for better customer service.”
In the end, Ranita went out wearing those ugly shoes.
Fortunately, she was wearing long pants, and her height was enough to compensate. A pair of shoes wouldn’t affect anything!
Piran was a harbor and a historic town. Walking along the slope towards the halfway up the hill, one could reach an observation deck, a favorite spot for tourists. From here, they could not only see the beautiful panoramic view of Piran but also witness the sunset sinking into the sea.
Legend has it that couples in love who hold hands and watch the sunset together at this spot will receive blessings.
