There were quite a few couples here. Only Ranita and Brendon, standing half a meter apart, looked more like enemies than lovers with their cold expressions.
When Ranita first arrived here, she saw the sunrise once. She had cramps in the middle of the night and couldn’t sleep for the rest of it, so she decided to take a walk around.
This town was a tourist destination with relatively good security. Especially before sunrise, many people would come together to watch it.
At that time, she was alone.
She never expected to come back again with Brendon this time.
The sunset in Piran was really beautiful and peaceful enough to relax one’s mind. The sea breeze blew Ranita’s hair up while her already fair skin appeared even more hazy under the afterglow.
Brendon leaned against the railing quietly watching Ranita for a long time before asking, “Just now there was this girl who talked to me; you pulled me away. Did that bother you?”
Was he testing her? Although Ranita felt annoyed by his actions earlier on, she didn’t want to admit it.
Ranita sneered at him, “Do you need me to call that girl back for you?”
Brendon was speechless.
“What did I do wrong again?”
“I’m not angry,” said Ranita as she raised an eyebrow. “It’s my working hours now; I won’t get angry at clients.”
Ranita adjusted her attitude while Brendon frowned unsure of how he should handle her next move. “I misspoke just now. Sorry!”
“The sunset is over, and my work hours are also finished. Can I go back now?”
“It’s already sunset, and it’s indeed getting late,” Brendon nodded. “Yes, let’s go!”
As couples were still lingering halfway up the mountain, the downhill road was deserted. Ranita walked fast, and Brendon, with his long legs, caught up with her and called out, “Ranita, be careful not to twist your ankle.”
She wouldn’t, of course!
The incident with the high heels earlier was an accident…
In the next second, Ranita stumbled, not knowing what she stepped on. A sudden pain shot up from her ankle, making her unable to help but let out a scream, “Ah!”
Losing her balance, Ranita tumbled down the slope.
Although the slope was not very steep, rolling down would definitely result in injuries! Moreover, rolling down in front of Brendon would make Ranita regret it for a lifetime!
“Ranita!”
An anxious voice. The man’s strong arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her back with force.
Brendon’s warmth enveloped her, as if it had struck her heart, making her heart race!
“Did you twist it? Let me see!” With the man’s voice, Ranita reacted and pushed Brendon away, her face stern. “Mind your own business!”
Ranita kept her distance and walked away quickly.
But after a few steps, she realized that her ankle was in severe pain…
“Ranita!” Brendon grabbed her arm. “You clearly twisted it, yet you’re still being stubborn!”
Saying that, Brendon walked in front of her, bent down, and said, “Come on, I’ll piggyback you.”
Ranita couldn’t believe it.
Did he just say he would carry her on his back? Ranita hesitated and looked at him. “Forget it, I can slowly walk down.”
“It’s such a long slope. By the time you reach the bottom, who knows how long it will take?” Brendon paused, and surprisingly, he smiled gently, his eyes slightly squinted. He said, “There are fewer people now; it might be different later.”
One had to admit that Brendon had hit her weak spot accurately.
Piran wasn’t big, but they had walked quite a distance. If Ranita insisted on walking back, she probably wouldn’t be able to get up tomorrow! It was just the right moment with fewer people around, so it shouldn’t attract too much attention…
Ranita compromised and gently leaned on his back.
