Chapter 446 Fooling Around

Book:A Successful Career After Divorce Published:2024-6-4

With one phone call, Ranita understood that the night of tenderness was a mistake and their current entanglement should not continue.
She had been Brendon’s wife for three years and thought she knew him well. He was meticulous in his emotions, like a robot, and had never shown any empathy towards any other woman except Shannon.
Ranita was just an insignificant character in his life.
After four years, Brendon said he liked her again but it felt like he was playing with her emotions.
“I told you I could raise Ayaan alone so you don’t have to do anything extra! You can go ahead with your busy schedule; I’m leaving now!” Ranita pushed away his hand and said, “Brendon, don’t be so undignified.”
As she walked out the door after taking two steps forward, her heart couldn’t resist the impulse to turn back and ask Brendon, “Did Shannon save you ten years ago?”
Brendon looked stunned as he asked how she knew about it.
“Allen told me when he drank too much,” replied Ranita.
Brendon pursed his lips. At that time, he was still young and hadn’t firmly established himself in Stuart’s Corp. So, when such a big accident happened, only he, Amiya, and Wyatt from the Stuart family knew about it.
Unexpectedly, Allen also knew.
“If… she hadn’t saved you, would you have agreed to take care of her for a lifetime?” Ranita asked, feeling uneasy. What could she prove by asking such a question?!
“Ranita… I will handle Shannon’s situation. I wasn’t joking when I mentioned remarriage to you.”
Brendon didn’t give an answer.
Ranita continued to ask, but what difference would it make? Shannon’s feelings, having grown up together with Brendon, wouldn’t change because of her words.
“Suit yourself, I’m leaving first.” Ranita walked away quickly.
Ranita returned to the hotel and opened a bottle of red wine for herself.
It had been too long, she thought it had faded away, she thought she had forgotten. But some things remained hidden in her heart and would suddenly erupt at certain moments.
When she had just left, she was pregnant and often experienced cramps at night.
She suffered in pain, cold sweat pouring down, and at first, she would call out Brendon’s name, even in her dreams. But later, she faced reality and tried to live a life without him.
After giving birth to Ayaan, she hadn’t dreamed of Brendon for a long time.
But tonight, after drinking half a bottle of wine, her mind was filled with thoughts of Brendon…
The intoxicating scent of alcohol washed over her brain, mixed with the frustration accumulated in her heart, unable to be released.
Ranita felt extremely uncomfortable.
At night, Ranita dreamed of Brendon and the lush green ivy…
“Ding Ling Ling!” Ranita was awakened by the ringing sound. She reached out and found the landline phone. It was a call from the front desk, informing her that someone had sent flowers for her and asking if they could be delivered.
Ranita gave permission and rubbed her temples as she got up. It didn’t take long before someone knocked on the door. Outside the door was a runner from the flower shop, holding a bouquet of roses in their arms.
“Miss, someone sent you flowers!”
“Thank you!” Ranita yawned and reached out. The person apologized, saying, “Did I disturb you?”
“No, not at all! Just give them to me!” Ranita quickly signed the receipt. “Thank you, you’ve been helpful!”
Ranita took the roses, the same as before, vibrant and tender. She didn’t need to look to know who had sent them.
“I told you not to send flowers anymore! I’m leaving in the afternoon. If you have time, come to Slovenia, and I’ll treat you to dinner.”
She sent the message and quickly received a reply, “Are you in such a hurry?”
“Yes! Brendon is here, and I don’t want to see him!” Mentioning Brendon, Ranita was so angry that she added two more words, “Bad luck!”
