Chapter 429 His Apology

Book:A Successful Career After Divorce Published:2024-6-4

“Jedidiah, you’ve been with Ayaan all day, why don’t you go rest for a bit?” Ranita paused, worriedly saying, “You just flew in from Prague and must be tired.”
Jedidiah held Ayaan and pinched the little one’s cheeks while glancing at her. “Have you thought about what I asked you to think about?”
“I…” Ranita was about to speak when she suddenly heard a phone ringing outside and the door moved slightly. She quickly got up. “Let me check it out!”
Ranita walked too fast and accidentally bumped into Brendon who couldn’t avoid her in time.
“Why are you standing here instead of going inside?” As she spoke, Ranita saw Brendon’s phone ringing in his hand and looked at the name on it while pursing her lips. “Aren’t you going to answer that call?”
Brendon answered the call with a lower voice than usual. “Shannon, is something wrong?”
Being close enough to hear Shannon’s voice clearly, Ranita heard her coquettishly say, “Brendon, I’m already home resting. You don’t have to worry about me.”
“Brendon,” she continued speaking into the phone, “you said there was an emergency matter? Is everything taken care of now?”
Listening intently, Ranita felt complicated emotions rising within herself.
She pointed inside the door and turned around in silence, but in the next moment, Brendon grabbed her finger. Brendon held her finger with one hand and held his phone with the other, saying, “Shannon, if there’s nothing else, I’ll hang up and you rest well.”
Brendon hung up the phone and pulled Ranita to a nearby staircase.
Behind the fire door, their voices wouldn’t leak out. Brendon’s face was stern as he said, “The killer who hurt Ayaan has been found.”
“What? Found? Where is the person?” Ranita’s emotions heightened when she heard this. Ayaan was the most important person to her, and if someone dared to harm him, she would fight with all her might!
“Where?!”
“Ranita, calm down. I have already taken the person to the police station, and the subsequent matters will be handled by others.” Brendon pursed his lips. “We know the killer; it’s Julia Parker, who used to work in the secretary’s office.”
Julia Parker?
What was going on? Ranita had no grudges against Julia. Why would she target Ayaan?
“What… What happened?” Ranita’s mouth slightly opened, asking hesitantly.
“It might be because of me! Four years ago, something unpleasant happened, and I fired her. Coincidentally, she saw Ayaan with me at the amusement park and guessed our relationship. In order to retaliate against me…”
Brendon’s voice was filled with guilt. “I’m sorry!”
Ranita didn’t expect it to turn out like this in the end. But could she blame Brendon? Julia was the one who did it, and Brendon didn’t want this to happen either.
“No need to apologize to me. This has nothing to do with you.” Pausing for a moment, Ranita pursed her lips and continued, “Brendon, regarding Ayaan… I hope you treat it as if you don’t know.”
“Whatever happens in the future, let it be.”
Ranita thought it through before saying this. When they separated before, it was her unilateral resentment, and overall, there wasn’t much emotional entanglement. It could be considered an amicable end to their marriage.
Now everyone had their own lives, so there was no need to drag each other down.
Let everyone continue their lives peacefully.
Upon hearing this, Brendon frowned and disagreed, saying, “But Ayaan is my child. I’m his father, and I have the right and obligation to take care of him.”
“I could have let it go in the past, but now that I know, I can’t just ignore it.”
