Phew!
Brendon was panting heavily, the cold air filling his lungs making it difficult to breathe. But after four years, he finally saw Ranita and if he didn’t catch up now, who knew when he’ll see her again.
“Ranita!” He shouted in anger without stopping the car.
Caleb caught up from behind and handed him his coat. “Mr. Stuart, what’s wrong? What happened?”
Brendon stared at the car that was getting further away and exhaled a cold breath. “Caleb, I saw Ranita! She’s in Berlin.”
After Caleb expressed his surprise, he immediately said, “I’ll have someone look for her here and notify you immediately if there’s any news.”
The earth is so big that finding someone can be quite difficult but knowing where she was made it easier.
“Let’s go to the hotel first! It’s still cold in Berlin so you need to be careful not to catch a cold,” Caleb thought for a moment before adding, “Sam is already waiting for us.”
Four years ago, Brendon suddenly replaced all of his female secretaries with male ones; Sam took over Julia’s position as a newcomer.
“Let’s go!” Brendon felt uneasy inside. How could he not catch up when he’d already seen her? But what else could he do?
Little Ayaan sat on his safety seat twisting around frequently while looking back several times wanting to take off his seatbelt.
“Ayaan, what’s wrong?” Ranita noticed something was off with him and asked softly.
Ayaan blinked his round eyes at Ranita then spoke tenderly, “Mommy, someone called your name.”
“Somebody called me too!”
Ranita glanced at the rearview mirror, seeing a row of cars. Where did that person come from?
“Ayaan, did you mishear something?” Ranita looked at her son’s soft little face, itching to pinch his cheeks.
“Who’s behind us? Were you well-behaved on the plane? Did you bother other passengers?”
“No… I was good!” Ayaan hummed. “Mommy, I met someone nice…”
Before the little boy could finish, Ranita’s phone rang, and she apologetically said, “Ayaan, let me take this call first. You can share with me later. Now, close your eyes and rest.”
Ranita felt sorry for the little child sitting on a night flight.
She answered the call to deal with work matters, but Ayaan didn’t sleep. Instead, he slid a bit out of his safety seat and secretly rummaged through Ranita’s bag, pulling out her wallet and opening the compartment to reveal a small photo.
In the photo, there was also a stamp. Ayaan searched online and found out it was taken from a document called a “marriage certificate” in their home country.
Mommy said the person in the photo was his father.
Ayaan stared at the photo for a while, feeling that the person at the airport really looked like his father…
“Ayaan, what’s wrong?” Ranita saw him looking at the photo again and felt a painful twist in her heart.
Ayaan was fine when he was younger.
But ever since he started going to kindergarten six months ago, he had been curious about his father-where he was, who he was, and what he looked like.
Ranita had to take a photo from that marriage certificate and create a little story, adding some artistic touches to tell him.
“I just wanted to look!” Ayaan smiled and handed the photo back to Ranita, but in his heart, he thought he would go find the person he met at the airport, ask him seriously if he was his father.
And then, give Mommy a surprise!
