Time seemed to stand still.
Brendon’s first encounter with Ranita wasn’t when Wyatt brought her into Boulderland Mansion, but rather at Kurima Foreign Studies University. He was looking for a friend and caught sight of a beautiful girl standing by the railing.
Red walls, green ivy.
The delicate girl was like snow melting in his eyes.
At first glance, Brendon thought she was stunningly beautiful. If he had to use one adjective, it would be “striking.” It was the first time he realized that girls could be this pretty; every feature on her face matched his aesthetic preferences. But there wasn’t any particular feeling at that time.
A fleeting glance.
He was busy managing Stuart’s Corp and dealing with the mess Ewan left behind every day. Gradually, memories faded away until Wyatt brought Ranita into Boulderland Mansion and asked him to marry her.
During the years Brendon spent working for Stuart’s Corp, Shannon was the woman he interacted with most frequently; taking care of Shannon became his responsibility as well.
Suddenly marrying a stranger made him feel somewhat uncomfortable… but Ranita turned out to be an excellent wife who worked well with him both in life and work. If it weren’t for Shannon, Ranita would have been his ideal type of woman.
“Mr. Stuart…” Caleb couldn’t help but whisper, “Should we wake up Miss Bowman?”
Caleb checked the time and reminded Brendon, “We still need to rush to the airport later; if we delay any longer, we might not make it in time… Mr. Stuart…”
His voice woke up Ranita suddenly from her drowsiness as she leaned against Brendon’s shoulder…
Ah! Ranita’s heart jumped to her throat.
Did she have some problem today? She accidentally fell asleep on Chris’s shoulder in the morning, and now she was leaning against Brendon in the afternoon. She must be crazy!
Ranita regretted it madly.
She shouldn’t have gotten into Brendon’s car.
“Are we there yet? Sorry, I’ll get off right away!” Ranita quickly adjusted her clothes, picked up her bag, and opened the door, saying, “Thank you for taking me back.”
Ranita ran away as if escaping.
Brendon watched her retreating figure, his lips pressed tightly…
“Mr. Stuart, shall we go?” Caleb asked tentatively, but Brendon inquired, “Caleb, how’s the situation with Turner?”
“It should be in court half an hour later. He won’t come out for the rest of his life.” Caleb said indifferently, “Aren’t you going to inform Miss Bowman? Mr. Stuart, you put in a lot of effort to make sure Turner spends the rest of his life in prison…”
Caleb shuddered just thinking about it.
“No need to tell her. Let’s go.”
As Brendon spoke, the car gradually drove away.
Under the green trees, Shannon and Holly witnessed everything. Holly, furious, stomped her foot, “Shannon, why are you holding me? I want to go up and tear that bitch Ranita apart!”
“How dare she still entangle with my brother!”
Shannon spoke softly, “Holly, don’t be impulsive. I’ve already told you the reason. Brendon just happened to run into her and gave her a ride home.”
“She was with Chris before.”
This statement pierced Holly even more.
Holly’s eyes turned red. “Does she even deserve to stand with Chris!”
“Holly, calm down. We came to visit Ranita. You’re too impulsive; I don’t dare to take you up like this!” After Shannon finished speaking, Holly coldly snorted, “I can’t calm down! Shannon, you don’t need to be so kind. She treated you like that, and you still come to visit her!”
