“Ranita…” Shannon frowned, biting her lip as she looked at her with a pitiful expression. “Ranita, I just wanted to bring you some fruit. You’re so cold!”
“Miss Murphy, if you don’t want me to be cold towards you, then don’t come here! Brendon and I are divorced now and have nothing to do with each other. Please stop bothering me. And as for your relationship with Brendon, I don’t need to know.”
Ranita’s gaze was icy as she spoke without any emotion in her voice.
“As for you, we’re not friends nor do we have any blood relation. If we meet again in the future, let’s pretend like we never knew each other and keep our distance.”
Shannon turned pale at Ranita’s words and bit down on her lip before speaking up again. “Ranita… I only wanted to show my concern for you… I know what I did before was wrong but now that you two aren’t getting back together anymore, I won’t interfere anymore.”
“As for this baby inside of me… it really was an accident! I didn’t plan on getting pregnant!” Shannon tried to defend herself.
“What a joke,” Ranita sneered at Shannon before reminding her of something she said in the hospital before.
“Is it because of all the lies that you can no longer remember what came out of your mouth?”
Shannon wasn’t fazed by being caught lying though; instead she looked timidly at Ranita while wearing a white dress that made her look like fragile porcelain.
“Ranita…what did I say? It seems like every time we talk, something goes wrong and makes you angry.”
Shannon had an ability to make people mad just by being around them which predictably stirred up emotions within Ranita’s heart.
“Stop pretending,” Ranita said sternly.
“Ranitaaaaa!” Shannon whined dramatically while smiling coyly afterwards, “Okay fine…I’m tired of talking like this too.”
Shannon’s voice carried a hint of sarcasm, and her expression was filled with coldness.
The delicate facade faded away, and she transformed entirely.
“Regardless, I truly came this time because I’m concerned about you and want to care for you and your child. Even though you’ve divorced Brendon, the child is innocent.”
“Additionally, I also came to thank you. Thank you for enabling Brendon and me to be together, allowing my baby to have a complete family,” Shannon said as she reached out to caress her abdomen.
“It’s just a shame about your baby in your belly, destined to be fatherless from birth. It’s really quite pitiful,” Shannon paused before continuing, “If I were you, I wouldn’t even keep the child.”
Ranita’s heart was pierced with a thousand wounds.
“Is this why you came here?”
“Oh… caught red-handed by you!” Shannon chuckled and crossed her arms. Her angelic face twisted into a devilish grin. “If I weren’t pregnant, maybe I could take care of this child myself. But since I am pregnant, there’s no need to bring your bastard back with me.”
“You’ve taken so much money from the Stuart family already; shouldn’t that be enough? This child, Ranita… it would be better not to keep it,” Shannon continued.
Ranita felt sickened as if she had swallowed a fly.
“Shannon, don’t disgust me like this! Whether or not I have a baby is my own decision; you don’t need to meddle in my affairs! Even if I do give birth to the child, I’ll raise it on my own without any help from you guys.”
“That won’t do at all! Since you left Boulderland Mansion behind us now, you should cut ties completely. If you leave the baby behind, then Brendon will always have something over his head and that won’t work for me,” Shannon smiled as she approached Ranita step by step.
