“Ranita, what’s going on with Brendon? Wasn’t this the one you gave to Dr. Pearson? How did you get it back?” Dylan didn’t quite understand Brendon’s actions.
“It’s nothing. Let’s go have dinner.”
During the gathering, Ranita was visibly distracted.
“Ranita, are you okay?” Eve asked, grasping her hand with concern. “If there’s anything, please tell us. We’ll help you!”
“By the way, has Shannon been causing you trouble these days?” Eve had heard from some friends in the industry that Shannon was currently in high spirits, and many people knew about her affair with someone outside the industry.
Shannon’s shamelessness infuriated Eve.
“I’ve divorced Brendon, she must be pleased now, so she hasn’t come to bother me,” Ranita said lightly, her eyes downcast. “Don’t mention these things, Eve… I’m planning to go to Greece!”
“What about the child… Does Brendon know?”
“He knows! I told him I’d have the surgery,” Ranita finished, and Eve immediately glared at her, placing her hands over Ranita’s stomach, whispering, “Sweetheart, don’t listen to your mommy’s nonsense. We won’t have the surgery.”
“Why would you say such things in front of the baby! It’s so heartbreaking to hear!”
Ranita chuckled. No wonder Eve got along so well with Dylan. Their synchronized thinking made them a perfect match.
“What about the future? You can deceive momentarily, but for a lifetime!” Eve, experienced in the industry, knew the unimaginable things wealthy people could do. If Brendon wanted to take the child back, Ranita wouldn’t be able to resist.
Ranita sighed, “What else can I do? Do we really have to… I… can’t bear to.”
In truth, the best solution in this situation was indeed not to keep the child.
But Eve couldn’t bear it either. “Let’s talk about it later! Let’s have the baby first!”
After lunch, Dylan took Eve home, and Ranita didn’t go home; instead, she went to find Yasmin.
“Yasmin! You’re finally back!” Ranita greeted Yasmin warmly, and Yasmin returned the embrace. “Long time no see.”
After chatting for a while, Yasmin performed an ultrasound for her.
Compared to the initial one, the baby had grown quite a bit, now resembling the shape of a fetus.
Yasmin smiled, “The development is good, and the fetal heartbeat is strong. Look… these are his fingers, and these are his toes…”
“How can you tell!?”
“I can definitely tell!” Yasmin smiled happily, “I didn’t expect to come back and find you pregnant, congratulations!”
“Thank you!” Ranita smiled too.
As for Brendon and Shannon, Yasmin didn’t mention them at all.
Ranita took the new ultrasound report and looked at the tiny little bundle. She was feeling pretty good. But when she got home, her good mood was shattered.
“Ranita… you finally came back! I’ve been waiting for you for a while,” said Shannon.
Ranita kept a cold face and ignored her.
But Shannon leaned in closer. “Ranita… yesterday I told you that I would bring some fruit over. Brendon picked it himself from the orchard, saying it’s the best batch they have right now. Since you’re pregnant now, it’s good to eat more fruit…”
Her voice was soft and whiny with a hint of grievance.
Ranita felt nauseous as she held back from saying anything. It seemed like Shannon was playing victim here when she hadn’t even done anything wrong!
Ranita walked around Shannon and stopped at the door.
“Miss Murphy, I need to enter my password now. Could you please turn around?”
