RI
A gush of wind followed by a series of howls met us as we got inside the cave.
“We’re attacked!” Eana screamed. As if on cue, the girls then surrounded me, trying to protect me. We prepared for the attack.
“Rogues!” exclaimed Bianca. “But how did they know about this place?” she asked in our mind link.
“I guess we’ll just have to talk about it some other time—” I was cut off when six rogues showed themselves.
“Be careful guys.” I told them.
We ended up killing the rogues but not after interrogating one of them. He said someone told them about it and that it would be a good hiding place.
We continued with our journey until we ended up next to a cliff.
I walked to the edge of the cliff. “Chaunelle,” I called out to her. “Please help me with this.”
“Ashkar ichbi hashbahr…” we said out loud together. “Sho zhara hagara kha bhama lahashte Fraeia…”
(Great spirit of the wind, hear your children, provide us with a way to reach Fraeia.)
I don’t know how we knew those words but it felt familiar to speak.
Slowly, clouds formed into another bridge connecting us to the roots of a big oak tree across the cliff.
Walking side by side with Chaunelle, we led the way across the cloud bridge, hoping with much hope not to lose the concentration or we might fall.
Reaching the lowest part of that oak tree, Chaunelle and I exchanged smiles. We felt successful and fulfilled.
“What now?” Eana asked.
“I guess this is the real gates to Fraeia.” I took in a deep breath. “Obukaresnep nash Fraeia…” (Open your gates, Fraeia.)
We waited for a while but nothing happened.
“Obukarensep nash Fraeia…” I said once again. Still nothing happened. I repeated the lines eight more times, but still nothing happened.
“What’s wrong, Ri?” AC asked. I shook my head.
“I don’t know. I knew that was the key. Tatay told me so. I just don’t know what went wrong.”
I sat down, annoyed. “Give up now?” Cassy spoke inside me.
“Shut up, Cass. I’m not in the mood right now.” I snapped at her.
“Aww… So you don’t want my help now?”
“Really Cass? You can help me? How? Why? In–”
“Chill, Ri. I know this will happen as the empress spoke to me.”
“W-when?”
“The same time the four princesses talked to you.”
“Ohh… So, how do I do it?”
“Extend your arms toward the gate. Make sure your mark is shown then say the key lines properly.
“Oh bhukareshnep nash Fraeia…”
I stood up and faced the tree once again. The girls were confused with my actions but I did not mind them.
I did what Cassy had instructed me to do.
“Oh bhukareshnep nash Fraeia…” I said carefully.
Then the roots started to crawl like vines forming into two big doors. Slowly, it opened but we couldn’t see anything since there was a bright light. Hand in hand, we walked towards the open door after taking some deep breaths.
When the light was cleared out, we were surprised with what we see.
Gab
Exactly six months now since Ri and her family left for the Philippines. Still, I wasn’t able to follow her. I have been busy with the rogues and helping other packs.
Rogues have been visible lately. Weird thing is that, there seemed to be plenty of them. We can’t seem to finish them all.
“Ri,” I called out to her.
Since I became the alpha, my father pressured me more into mating with Tiffany. But never in my wildest dream would I mate with her. She is nothing compared to Ri.
“Alpha, a Mr. Josh Briston is asking to see you.” Duane, one of the pack fighters, got in the office.
“Please let him in, Duane, and thanks.” he left as soon as the visitor came into my office.
“Alpha,” greeted Josh and extended his hand.
“Josh.” I accepted his hand and shook it. “How is your mission?”
“I’m sorry, Alpha. It’s still negative.” he said sadly. “Although, I found a lead. I discovered which province they went to. The exact city is to be found out.”
“That is already a progress, Josh. Thank you. I just hope the next time you come here, you can give me the specific address.”
“I’ll do my best, Alpha!” he said and he went out of the office.
Looking back at her picture, I once again felt the bond I have with her. There is still that bond though it’s very faint.
“The bond seems to get fainter and fainter…” Keifer spoke.
“I know but let us just hold on to that bond how little or faint it may be.” I told him.
I felt him shrugged inside me.
“It has always been your fault why we are losing her.”
“I know that is why I’m making up for it. And when I see her again, I am going to beg for her forgiveness.”
“Ring… Ring…” I heard my phone buzzed.
“This is Alpha Gabriel, may I know who this is?”
“This is Alpha Luis, Alpha Gabriel, alpha of Moon Shadows Pack. We would like to ask your assistance against the rogues. We sighted nearly 100 rogues living in a pack house just outside our territory.”
“Okay, Alpha. We will be there in a few hours.” I ended the call and called out to my beta, Jam.
“Yes, Alpha?”
“Prepare the pack. We will have a meeting in 30 minutes.”
“Yes, Alpha.” He said and left.
“Topher, you will be in-charge while I am away.”
“Yes, Alpha!” Topher answered.
“Twenty warriors will be left here. The rest will be with me and Jam.” I said to the pack. “Teenagers will stay here and prepare to help the warriors when needed. We will be going to the Moon Shadows Pack but we will be back as soon as we can.”
“Yes, Alpha!”
“Dismiss. Warriors coming with me, prepare. We will leave in an hour.”
I went upstairs and got inside my room. I lied down in my bed to get some rest. Closing my eyes, I drifted to deep sleep.
“Help… Help…” I heard a scream from afar. Looking at my surroundings, I found out, I am still in our territory. “Help…”
I ran towards where the voice came from. That’s when I saw our pack house burning. I heard growls behind me. I turned around and saw five rogues about to attack.
I was preparing for the fight, when I felt our bond. “Mate. Our mate is here.” Keifer exclaimed.
I tried looking around but I can’t see her. I looked back to the five rogues. I shifted into my wolf and prepared for the attacked.
After many dodging, kicking, biting, I managed to kill three of the rogues. I was on my fourth when I felt someone bit into my stomach. I turned to him and bit of his neck as hard as I can.
“One more.” Keifer told me. “Hold on.”
“I can’t. I’m so tired.” I stumbled on the ground.
“You cant give up. There is still one more. Stand up!” He said as the last rogue slowly made its way toward my lying body.
Lying limp on the ground, I once again felt the strong pull of the mate bond. It’s as if my mate’s around. But still I did not see her. The rogue still slowly moved toward me.
The pull got stronger and stronger but then I also felt myself losing to death. I closed my eyes when pain attacked. When I opened my eyes, I thought I saw the silhouette of my mate.
Looking unto the space where I thought she were, I whispered.
“Ri! Forgive me. I’m sorry, so sorry I didn’t fight for you. I love you so much, Ri.” I felt the tears rolled down my face. “I,” I choked.
“l-lo-love y-yo-you.” I said as the strength escaped and darkness took over.
I woke up, breathing fast. What a nightmare! It seemed like real.
“Alpha! Alpha!” Jam called out from the door.
“Yes?!”
“Alpha, it’s time to leave.”
“Okay, I’ll be there in a few minutes.” I heard his footsteps going away. I stood up and took a quick shower, grabbed some clothes and went out of my room. Before I stepped into our car, I let out a small whisper.
“I miss you and I love you, Ri.” I spoke towards our bond. “I will have you back, soon.”
