Gab
Two years.
Yes, two years since I last saw her.
Two years since I last held her in my eyes.
Two years of pure pain and agony for not being there for her.
Two years of longing, of loneliness, of worrying.
Still, I wasn’t able to find her. Sad thing is that, every time I am near to finding out where she is, the chance seems to slip away.
But one thing I am happy is that, she never broke the connection. I can still feel her emotions no matter how faint it is.
To say I’m holding on to this very faint connection is an understatement. Yes, This is what keeps me going. This is what keeps me alive.
The hope that is still there. Hope that one day, my mate will be back and I can be with her at last.
I left the porch of the Paine’s house. Every time I would feel alone, I would come here and imagine Ri being here once.
I sighed and continued my way back to the pack house. How I wish everything will be okay so that I can personally look for her. But the cases with the rogues seemed to never end.
“Alpha,” Jam called me as I got in. “There are rogues sighted near the western border. What do you want us to do?” Again?
“How many are there?”
“Around fifty, Alpha.”
“Okay, call in ten pack warriors and follow me.” I shifted into my black wolf and run towards the western part of the territory.
“Everyone, get close as quiet as possible. Let’s surprise them with this attack!” I ordered them in our mind link.
“Yes, alpha!” They answered all together.
Slowly, we drew closer to the rogues.
“Go!” and we attacked and the fight broke out.
We already killed most of the rogues and we were to kill the last members when the air got more filthy. A loud howl opened my eyes to see we were surrounded by more than one hundred rogues.
“It’s a trap!” Jam screamed in our mind link.
“Damn!” I cursed. Another howl broke and the rogues started to attack.
“Everyone, prepare!” I ordered even when I knew we won’t make it alive.
We fought the rogues despite the tiredness we felt. I growled as I saw my pack starting to stumble.
“Joe! Demetri!” I called out to them. “Alpha,” they replied weakly.
“No, Lucio!” as he fall to the ground lifeless.
With five of my men dead and three severely wounded, I was left with Jam.
Looking at him, I ordered. “I will get there attention. I want you to get out of here as fast as you can!”
“No, Gab! I won’t leave you!”
“Jam, you know you have to go. What about your mate and your son?”
“But, Alpha–,”
“That’s an order!” I used my alpha tone.
I used the little power I got and distracted the rogues. I ran away from Jam and fought with other rogues.
“Go!” I ordered Jam and he went off. I focused on the five rogues in front of me. They walked slowly towards me. The five rogues in front of me reminded me of my dream.
Oh my… I can’t believe I’ll die without seeing her again. “I love you, Ri. I’m sorry if I can’t look for you anymore.” I spoke feeling our bond.
I prepared myself. When they attacked, I dodged. One tried to bit me but I slipped away. I attacked on the other one but the four are trying to hit me too.
I felt pain when one was able to bite a chunk at my back. I growled and killed the one who bit me.
I managed to kill the two and was now preparing for another fight. They surrounded me and was about to attack me when I felt a surge of power.
The next thing I saw, the three rogues are screeching on the ground as if they are electrocuted.
“Sorry, we’re late!” a tall, tanned guy spoke. “How are you, Alpha Gabriel?”
I nodded and about to say something when I felt my head lighter and darkness consumed me.
When I woke up, I saw an unfamiliar ceiling. I sat up when I felt a numbing in my back. My wound. It’s almost healed which surprised me. It was a big wound and it would have me at least three days to heal with my wolf. Then it hit me.
“Am I out that long?” I spoke to myself.
“No.” Keifer spoke inside me.
“Then, how am I healed?”
“I see you’re awake!” a soft voice had my wolf jumped in excitement. I turned around and saw her. Yes! The girl I have been waiting for.
“Ri!” my eyes sparkled seeing her. I got up and looked at her.
She has changed, changed a lot. I felt a rush of happiness inside me.
‘Hello, Alpha Gabriel!” she said seriously.
Ri’s POV
“I love you, Ri. I’m sorry if I can’t look for you anymore.” I heard him spoke on our bond.
My heart leapt seeing him wounded. No, the vision! I can’t let it happen.
“Eana, Red, the rogues!”
“Yes, my queen.” Eana answered. I glared at her before focusing on the rogues.
We did our punishment on them before the three rogues could harm my mate. Eventually, we killed them in the end.
“Sorry, we’re late.” Red spoke. Gab looked at us. “How are you Alpha Gabriel?”
He nodded towards us but before he could say anything, his head dropped.
“Gab!” I called him and ran towards him. “Gab!”
“Ri, he’s unconscious! Let’s bring him home.” I nodded and looked at him. Kissing him on the forehead, I touched his back.
“Oh ichbi oh huno, sho zhara hagashte oth drash.” I spoke quietly.
(Oh Spirit of the Trees, provide me the power to heal.)
I felt my palm warmed. As the feeling of the power rushed, I saw his wounds healing. A few minutes more, Red was carrying him as we walked our way to our old house.
Memories rushed as we arrived there.
“I guess someone’s been staying here.” Red spoke sniffing. I sniffed the place and smelled Gab’s smell. I smiled and headed inside.
“Noshome-ah sya ghama…” Eana spoke. “Ashya ghor pawg.” (“Someone’s happy… He’s gorgeous.”)
“Dashen!” (Shut up!) I said as I felt my face blush at the same time, I heard a growl from Red.
He always gets irritated everytime we speak the Fraeian language.
“I’ll be in my room for a while. I want to take my shower.”
“Okay!
I walked out of my room and headed to the kitchen. I’m hungry and I decided to make something. We have just arrived today and we have not been to the grocery. I decided to settle with the apples we have bought on our way. Taking a bite, I walked back to the living room to check on Gab.
I saw him move and sat up. He looked around, I guess wondering where he is. He seemed to be talking to his wolf. I stared at the man who gave me confusion. I felt Cassy jumped inside me, as if she’s chanting. I shook my head and walked towards him. I brought up my facade.
“I see you’re awake.” I said softly. He turned around and my heart felt warm seeing his eyes sparkled as he saw me.
“Ri!” Butterflies erupted in my stomach looking at him.
“Hello, Alpha Gabriel!” I sat across him. “How are you feeling?”
“I felt good and healed, wait, how long am I out?”
“Three hours.” He stood up, stretched and started pacing. “Anything wrong?”
I felt his uneasiness. Did I do something wrong when I healed him?
“I was just wondering. I’m thankful I am healed but I can’t understand how it healed this fast.”
I let out a sigh silently. Relieved that nothing’s wrong. I shrugged my shoulders not wanting to tell him the truth.
“Alpha–,” I began not looking at his body. Yum… I felt myself blushed so I looked away, taking a bite of my apple.
“Gab, Ri. You know you can call me that.” He looked at me. “I’m sorry.”
I stiffened. I was not surprised with what he said. I just did not expect it.
“Look, Gab. I am here because of a mission. And it involves you and your territory.”
“What do you mean?”
“A part of your territory attracts the rogues. We’re here to help you with the rogues and more.”
Confusion showed on his handsome face. I felt my heart jumped and gone wild again. If that’s even possible.
“Damn, why does he really have to be this gorgeous!” I said to myself.
I smiled at him. “I’ll explain everything on due time as I can see you also have a lot of explaining to do.” I raised my eyebrow at him as he blushed.
“As of now, I want to ask you to let us stay here for a while.”
“Of course, Ri! There’s no problem with that. Ahmm, would it be okay if–,” he was cut off with the sound the footsteps going down.
“Alpha Gabriel!” I turned and saw Red and Eana. I smiled at them. “You still remember me, don’t you?”
“Of course, Red.” He nodded and looked at Eana. Red placed his protective arm over Eana’s shoulders.
“This is Eana, my mate.”
“Odashega!” (Hello!) Eana said and I glared at her. It’s a no-no for anybody outside our families to know about it.
“What did she just say?”
“Ahm, Gab, that… that’s a family language. She.. she said, hello.” I stammered. He looked at me, to Eana and Red and back. Red cleared his throat. “So, has Ri asked you to let us stay?”
“Yeah.” he nodded.
“Askhar nash, Freyren Ri…” A tall, lean and handsome man came inside from the door. He kneeled down in front of us. “Freyra Red, Freyre Eana!”
I felt like another bomb exploded in my ears as I saw Gab’s face.
“Arghh., I thought I have escaped this!” I let out a big sigh.
“Juno, sho tare seedee manam hankshar. ” (Juno, you stay outside for a while, please.) I spoke out loud. He nodded, stood up and went outside.
I turned around and saw the surprise and confusion in my mate’s eyes.
I looked at Eana and Red who are already grinning. I sighed and looked back to my mate.
“Another thing I will explain in due time?” I said unconfidently as I waited for his reply.
To my surprise, Gab only gave me a mischievous smile. Before I knew it, he collapsed in the couch.
“Gab!”
