Ri
“H E L P…” I heard scream from afar.
“Somebody, please help us…” another voice asked for help.
I looked around to find where the voice came from but I saw nobody.
I walked closer to where the voice seemed to come from. I found the place suddenly became familiar, too familiar.
I walked closer and closer and that’s when it hit me. Of course, I spent hell in this place.
This is the Midnight Moon Pack territory. But why am I here? As I remembered, I was still in the Philippines.
“H E L P….” another deathly screamed broke out. I ran towards the pack house. I saw it burning and fight was everywhere. I saw our former alpha fighting as well as the other members of the pack. As I turned to the side, I saw my mate fighting against five rogues.
He managed to kill the three now. I shouted at him when one of the rogues attacked him from the back.
I gasped for air when he fell down. Only one rogue left but he’s hurt. The big chunk on his back is one reason he can no longer fight. The rogue slowly walked closer to him.
I tried to stop him but I can’t use my powers. I saw Gab changed back to his human form, weak and so fragile.
“Why can’t you stop?” I shouted at the rogue. “Why can’t I use my powers?” For the first time, I became frustrated with my incapability.
“Gab! Gab, please stand up!” I ran towards him. I realized they don’t see me. I tried to touch him but my hands just went through his body.
My tears fell down. Helplessness and frustrations are written on my face.
“Ri!” Gab spoke so low I didn’t think the rogue had heard him. My heart beat faster hearing me calling my name. “Forgive me.” He said as if he sees me. “I’m sorry, so sorry I didn’t fight for you. I love you so much, Ri.” He said as tears rolled down his face. “I l-lo-love y-yo-you.” And he took his last breath and closed his eyes.
“Gab! Gab!” I called him with tears in my eyes.
The surroundings suddenly changed. I’ve never been to this place before. It’s so green and peaceful.
“Hello dear!” I heard someone call me from my back. I turned around and saw five beautiful women. From the aura I felt from them, they are Fraeians. Two of them were wearing white; one is blue; the other is green and the last is red. I was taken aback. This can’t be!
The older woman wearing white smiled at me. “Yes, we are!” she said as if reading my mind. I looked at them confusedly. “We’ve been waiting to see you, dear. Oh, by the way, I am Aerea.” She said and smiled again.
“You need to come to Fraeia once the five of you are already complete.” Said the one wearing red, whose name I think is Igni. While the other one wearing white, Brienne, just looked at me like my mother looked at me- in a motherly way.
“Indeed!” said Vine, the one wearing in green. “You have to train here before you need to do what you have to do.”
“B-but what are we destined to do? And how are we gonna do it?” I asked.
“We will tell you as soon as you come here.” Siren spoke calmly.
Brienne approached me and hugged me. “As of now,” she said softly. “go back to the real world. Your family is already worried about you.” She let me go, touched my cheek with the back of her hand, “You will be facing another challenge in your life. Be strong, my child.” And she hugged me again.
“Wait!” I said. “What was that I saw a while ago? Was that real?”
“Yes and no.” Brienne said. “What you saw is a product of your heart’s desire. Your heart wants to see your mate, that’s why you saw him. If it was real? It might be. That is the future you saw, Ri. Unless, the present will change, then the future may change. One thing I can say to you, dear, you need to follow your heart.” I nodded to her as she guided me to a nice bed that I have just noticed. She let me lay in there, touched my forehead and as she lifted her hand, I felt sleepiness consumed me.
I slowly opened my eyes and I was amazed to find myself in my room. I slowly sat up and that’s when I felt arms encircled my body and helped me get up. I looked at the owner and saw my mom. I smiled at her gratefully.
“Thank goodness, you’re awake!” she exclaimed.
“What happened?” I asked her.
“You’ve been out for two weeks, Ri. You don’t know how worried we are!”
“Sorry, Mom.” I apologized. She shook her head and hugged me.
“Please be careful always, Ri. You’re the only daughter I have. I mean, of course, there are your sisters-in-law but you know what I mean.” Mom said in a breath. I giggled hearing her mumble.
“I promise, Mom. I will be careful next time!” I assured her. She smiled as we heard a knock on the door. The door opened and my Dad’s head popped in.
“I thought I heard crying that’s why I came and check. Oh!” he exclaimed. “Thanks heaven, you’re awake, Princess!” he came in and hugged me. That’s when my brothers and sisters started to barge into my room, too.
For the first time, I saw my sisters together. I have never been amazed. I looked at each of them.
“Hi, Ri!” said the Rochie’s mate, the girl we rescued. “I’m Chaunelle.” She gave me a big smile. “Thank you so much for saving me.”
She came to me and hugged me.
“You don’t have to thank me. I would do anything for my sisters.” I smiled at her, too.
“Wait! I want to join!” Eana exclaimed.
“I wanna join, too!” Bianca and AC said together.
And they came to us and hugged us, too.
“Sisters!” and we laughed.
Eventually, our laughter ended.
“Ahhh….” A painful shriek came out of our mouths and the same time, each of us fell down to the floor.
“Ahh…” I screamed. I felt my bones breaking and moving.
“Make it stop, please…” I heard Eana shout.
My parents and brothers moved fast. By the way they moved and the pace of their movements, they knew what was happening to us. I tried to look around despite the pain.
I saw how my sisters suffered like me. I felt another crack inside me.
“Ahh…” I screamed again as tears continue to fall down my face.
“They are shifting!” Tatay said.
“And it’s almost over!” Nanay said as she cradled my head.
“Ahhhh….” I let out one loud scream before I went back to unconsciousness.
I felt my ears moved, catching the sound of the footsteps walking back and forth.
I opened my eyes and saw my family waiting for us to wake up. This time, I saw the amazement in their eyes. Mom nodded me to the direction of the mirror. I walked close to it and was stunned with what I saw.
A wolf.
Yes. I finally changed into my wolf. I looked around and saw my unconscious sisters in their wolf form, too.
I looked back at the mirror and looked at my reflection. I saw a white wolf with a golden crown-like shape in the middle of my forehead. My ears are white, same with the rest of my body except for the feet, which are black, that made me look like having socks.
I made a wolfy grin as Cassie spoke inside me.
“Like what you see?”
I smiled (if that’s even possible) and shouted, “Yes!”
I turned around and looked at my parents. “You are beautiful, Ri!”
“Thanks Mom!” I replied in our mindlink.
I looked at my sisters once more. What we all have in common is that we are all white wolves with black feet. The difference is the shapes in our foreheads.
Eana has a red diamond; Bianca has a brown leaf-like; AC has an indigo teardrop-like shape; and Chaunelle has a grayish feather-like shape in her forehead, too.
“You’re beautiful, Ri!” Eana said.
“So do you, An.” I told her and nodded my head towards the mirror. She walked towards it and mentally gasped. “Told you!”
One by one, my sisters woke up and just the same, we greeted them and saw their amazement as well.
“At last! I have shifted!” Bianca shouted in our mind link.
Each of my brothers went to their mates and hugged them. I felt a slight nudge in my heart seeing them. I turned to look at my parents, trying to avoid my brothers.
“Let’s go take a run!” AC said excitedly.
“You go. I have some questions for Tatay.” I answered. As of now, I don’t want to be with them since I felt left out.
“How can I go back to my human form, Tatay?” I asked him.
“Just think of your human form, Ri.” I nodded and went to my bathroom. I felt the stares of my siblings behind me.
I closed the door behind me, imagined my human form —my arms, my legs, my face and at once, I changed back into my old self. I was thankful there was no longer any pain. I grabbed my robe and went out. I ran to my closet and changed into my clothes.
I went out after fixing myself. My siblings are still there looking at me.
“Can I ask you something, Tay?” he nodded and pointed the direction of his office.
“How on earth did I change, Tatay?” I asked him as we got inside the office. Eventually, my parents followed minus my siblings.
“I do have a theory, Ri. But I’m not sure.”
“What was it?”
“I guess because you are all part of the prophecy. And that you have to be complete before you change. But I didn’t think it would be this soon.”
I nodded and looked at him.
“Tay, while I was unconscious, I met the four sisters and the empress, Brienne. She said we have to be in Fraeia as soon as we can.”
He stared at me for long before he shook his head. “No, Ri.”
“I have to, Tay.” I looked at him sadly. “I don’t want to leave you but I have to know the rest of my destiny.”
