I felt like a bomb exploded on me.
“W-why?” I stammered.
He smirked and tears started to form in my eyes but I tried my best not to let them fall. No! Not in front of this douche.
“You’re asking why?” He looked at me from head to toe and back. “Because you are a disgrace!” I gasped. This jock! “You can’t even shift! How do you think will you become a good luna if you don’t even understand how it would feel to shift?” He shook his head and stared at me. “Plus, you are a freak! I can’t stand it if people would look at me in disgust just because I’m with you!”
“So, you—you’re rejecting me?” I asked him without even looking at him.
“Y-yes!” he said softly which caused me to look up. His face so soft yet with a pained expression which surprised me. He immediately changed his expression when he saw me looking at him in confused expression. In a fierce, stern voice, he said, “YES!”
“Ahm… O-okay!” I said calmly. Still. No tears flowing on my face. I felt a lump on my throat as I said, “I a- accept i-it.” I saw his reaction, now with more pain in his face. I got more confused. Is he in pain?
“I’m sorry.” was all he said and he walked back to the dining area.
I suddenly felt weak from all the courage and the energy I put up just for me not to cry in front of him. I fell down on the floor as tears flowed continuously like a faucet being opened.
I felt arms wrapped around my shoulders and waist as I was enveloped in a tight hug. I looked up to see Red and Rochie looking at me with love and sympathy. I poured my heart out on them as I settled my face in between their shoulders.
It was supposed to be the moment I waited the most, to find, to love and be loved by the one person destined for me but I was rejected. Rejected by the person whom I thought would love me and be with me for the rest of my life.
My tears kept on streaming down but my brothers never said a word. And I appreciated them more for that.
Minutes passed by and I was still crying to my heart’s content. But then, I suddenly pushed my brothers back, setting me free and clutched my chest—over my heart. I tried to breathe deeply but I find it difficult to do. I breathed faster but I can’t seem to reach my breath.
I punched my chest hoping to get that something that blocks my oxygen. I continued to punch/clutch my chest as I saw Red and Rochie staring at me with fear in their eyes. I breathed deeper but as I did it, the more that I can’t seem to. I felt like drowning from I don’t know what. I crouched on the floor; lay on my back as I twisted from side to side hoping to ease up what I was feeling. I half noticed Rochie called out our parents for help.
A loud scream escaped my throat as I felt myself losing my fight. Before I blacked out, I saw my parents and brothers running towards me followed by the Alpha, some guests and even my mate.
ROSEANN’s POV (Ri’s Mom)
“My baby!” I watched as Rianne was brought inside the emergency room. We were in the pack hospital. We brought Ri here after she passed out.
She was crying, I know. She won’t experience that if she didn’t.
Ri has a weak heart, something that would have been cured if she had shifted. Only a strong emotion could trigger it though. I have seen her fought during her trainings but she never had an attack.
Why now?
The pack doctor came out from the emergency room.
“Doc, how’s my daughter?” I asked him.
“She suffered from a mild heart attack Lu- Rose. But good thing, she is a werewolf. She is stable at the moment. We just have to be more careful with her. We should not let her get upset.” Relief washed over me as I felt my mate wrapped his arms around my waist.
“What happened?” I turned to my sons, Red and Rochie. They looked at each other as if weighing whether to tell us or not. They looked at us and to each other once again.
“It’s not for us to tell, Mom.” Red answered in a serious tone. Among my sons, he is really the most overprotective of her sister. He is also the most serious among them and Ri was the only one who can break through the shield he put up around him.
“What do you mean by that?” Drew asked sternly in his alpha tone. We flinched, even the alpha and the other people who heard him did.
If my husband had not stepped down, Drew could have been his successor. He is a good person—knows how to be serious and to be funny at the right time. He is the most responsible and strategic among my five children.
“The reason is not ours to tell, Kuya.” Rochie answered. “And unless Ri will let us tell you, we will not tell.” His voice is so serious and stern.
Rochie. He is our family clown. You always see him happy but truth is, he is dangerous when he gets angry or if Ri gets hurt.
“Guys, cool down. This is not the right time to fight.” Drey, the family peacekeeper, together with Ri, finally spoke. He is always calm and the only time I saw him furious was when Ri was laughed by a couple of children in the park when she was still 4.
Drew and Rochie started relaxing though tension is still in the air as I noticed Red and Rochie alternately threw a glare at the Alpha’s son.
I saw how protective my boys are to my baby and I’m sure, something came up which caused Ri to be in here. And I guess I just have to find it out secretly.
“It’s okay, boys!” My mate spoke. My mate is the older version of Rochie— personality wise. “We will just talk about it at the right place.”
“I know you know something. Now tell me.” I mind link Red and Rochie.
“Ri.” Rochie answered. I noticed Red calmed himself as he threw another glare at Gabriel. “She, she has just been rejected.”
I stiffened as I turned my stare to Gabriel. I felt my mate stiffened, too, as he wrapped his arms on my waist once again, trying to calm me. I guessed, he heard us.
“Is it Gabriel?” I asked as I finally put the pieces together.
“Yes.” Red answered, venom is in his voice.
By then, I felt my anger burned like a fire inside me. I glared at the alpha’s son. That’s why they didn’t tell the twins.
I know, with Drew alone, Gabriel would be beaten to death. He may be the next alpha but Drew has something more than him. Goodness! Even Rochie could defeat him alone.
I felt rage looking at the boy. So I did what I felt like doing. I let the fire burning inside me flow through my stare towards him. In a matter of seconds, Gabriel fell to the floor, shrieking in pain. I knew my fire is burning inside him in unknown degree. Alpha Ivan, Luna Hannah and the twins tried helping him. Panic was in Luna’s voice.
I was stopped with my punishment when I felt my mate pressed my side.
“That’s enough, babe. He still won’t learn his lesson by doing that.” He told me through our mind link.
I looked at him and smiled. At the same time, Gabriel stood up; his face was confused on what just happened.
I turned to look at the people passing by the hospital hallway. One of them greeted the twins for their birthday. That’s when I remembered, we were celebrating the twin’s birthdays. And that’s also when I realized, Ri’s 18th birthday is in a few days. We need to be home!
