I heard the bell rang signaling the end of the school day and of the week and only three more days before graduation. I hurriedly went out of the library where I spent my last period and ran to the parking lot where my brothers would be waiting for me.
I went through the multitudes of students going out when someone accidentally pushed me. I bumped into a someone’s back. I felt electric shock erupted as tingles ran through my body and an alluring scent of freshly mowned grass and lemon hit me. But how? I’m not even 18.
“Mate. Mate. Mate.” Cassandra or Cassy, my wolf, jumped inside me. I looked up to see who it was. My jaw dropped and my eyes bulged when I realized who my mate was.
He slowly turned around when he realized what happened. But before he saw me, I was pushed through the wave of students.
I finally got out of school building and started my way to the end of parking lot where our car was parked. Once again, some original members of the Gibbous stayed there, talking to one another.
“Ooh! The disgrace is passing by. Make way!” Tiffany, another wolf and the slut captain of the cheerleaders, exclaimed.
I smirked and just ignored her as I continued my way. I heard my name being called and as I turned back, I was met by a splash of soda thrown towards my face. It took a few seconds before it registered in my mind what has just happened and at that, I wiped the soda off my face and saw Tiffany, holding the can of soda, as she started going back to her group of friends.
“You look good in wet clothes, by the way.” She added as she turned to me and laughter broke out.
I felt like I want to cry but I did not. Instead, I wiped my face again, started my way to her. In a swift motion, I punched her in the face, just right to her nose. She stumbled down on the ground as blood flowed out from her nose.
“Disgrace, you say?” I glared at her. “How does it feel that this disgrace was able to put you on your knees and made your nose bled, huh?” She growled at me, stood up and attacked me but I was prepared. I grabbed her arms and held both of them at her back.
I felt my anger surfaced and fire burned inside me as if trying to be unleashed. I tried to release it but as if it has its own mind; it flowed to my palms and continued towards Tiffany’s arms. She suddenly squealed and moved from side to side as I felt my “fire” burned her from inside. To others, I just held her hands but inside her, she is suffering from pain.
I let her go and she continued to thrash from side to side as she lay on the ground, screaming in pain. My eyebrow raised; surprised of the new power I just discovered.
I thought of my “fire” to go out from her body and return to me. Then it happened; I felt heat pass through my palms as she stopped squealing.
As I calmed myself, I also felt my “fire” slowly put out.
I turned and saw the other members looking at Tiffany as if she just went crazy. Then laughter broke out as Tiffany got up in a messy hair and dirty clothes.
“What the heck happened out there?” I heard Rochie asked and I just shrugged my shoulders.
“What happened out there, Ri?” Drew asked me as I climbed in the car.
“I don’t know, Kuya Drew.” I looked at my brothers one by one. “I just got so angry at her that I felt fire burning inside me.” I continued explaining to them what I think happened.
I saw their jaws literally dropped.
“Do you think you also have the ability to control fire?” Red asked. I shrugged. “Or do you think it’s your wolf?” I shook my head.
“Fire…” I heard Red said in a sigh as he shook his head.
“No, I don’t think so. Coz, you know what, Kuya? During that time, I haven’t felt my wolf. I think this is related to our wind power.” I sat there silently. I am starting to get scared of what this new power will bring me.
As we reached our home, I got surprised as I saw the entire house already prepared for our little banquet in celebration of the twin’s birthdays. A few people were invited; mostly the old pack members, our new Alpha and Luna, our new Beta and Third-in-command and their mates and some elders.
We are not really a sociable family, that we only have a few chosen people whom we really trust.
I stepped out from my closet as I finished dressing up for the dinner. In a few minutes, guests will be arriving.
I went down stairs and proceeded to my post. Mom assigned us to different posts. The twins, together with our Dad, were in-charge of welcoming the guests; Red was in the piano since he was a music enthusiast; and us—Rochie and I were to help Mom prepare the table.
A knock on the door told us that the guests had started to arrive. I went to the kitchen and took a serve of the food Mom prepared and took it to the dining table and placed it on top.
I was on my way back to the kitchen when that same alluring scent hit me. Our mate’s here! Cassy purred. I felt my heart skip but I kept myself calm.
“We knew who our mate is but why am I scared?” I asked Cassy. “Am I not supposed to be happy and excited?”
“I don’t know. Do you think he will reject us?” she asked back. “Yes.” I told her honestly. I felt her saddened with what I said.
I saw Mom and Rochie came out from the kitchen. I waited for them when I heard Dad’s voice coming towards the room.
“By the way, these are my other kids; my youngest son, Rochie and my only daughter, our princess, Rianne.”
I greeted the Alpha and the Luna, who gave me a good smile. The Alpha greeted as back in an alpha tone.
I was supposed to flinch but I did not. I did not feel affected with the tone he used although, upon hearing it, I saw Dad jumped a little to his side.
“This is my son, and our future alpha, Gabriel.” I heard him say and my Dad nodded to him. We followed his act and he nodded back.
I stared at my mate who never even give me a glimpse. I felt sad as I thought of him rejecting me.
I heard my Mom told us to settle down and start to eat. I started to go on my seat but not before I saw Red glared at my mate’s back before he went to his seat. I know he didn’t like him.
“Have you felt something when the Alpha used his Alpha tone? ” I asked my brothers in our mind link. “Coz, I felt like it’s powerless.” I reached my seat which was, unfortunately, next to my mate’s.
I smiled at him when he looked at me but to my surprise, he glared at me and I saw disgust on his face. I felt a lump on my throat but I hid it and acted as if I didn’t notice it.
“Yeah! I feel the same way.” Rochie answered and I saw my brothers, nod.
“Me, too.” They all said together in my head. “Why do you think it didn’t affect us when it obviously affected Dad?”
“We don’t know.” They said as they also shook their heads.
My mate noticed our conversation and he frowned. “We need to talk.” I heard him say in our mind link I jumped at my seat and stiffened but then shrugged my shoulders.
I excused myself and went to the terrace to have some air when I felt our bond’s pull going stronger. I knew my mate followed me as I smelled the same alluring scent getting nearer.
I prepared myself. I know I’m in for a rejection.
“I know you know.” He said in a serious voice. “Look. I don’t want to waste more time. So lemme’ get this straight.” He looked at me straight to the eyes.” I DON’T WANT YOU!”
