Chapter 135 Crossroads 6

Book:Married To My Sister's Husband Published:2024-5-1

The next day, I got a text from Carlos out of the blue. He didn’t say much in the text, just that Sophia was about to make a mistake, the location and time. I always feel nervous each time I know he’s around Sophia.
He told me where to be and the exact time. It was an empty road somewhere beside Shire woods, so I feared the worse. I drove there alone, I acted impulsively and didn’t think afar.
Soon Sophia arrived and I got out of my car and walked over to hers. She came out of her car on and shut the door, then relaxed on it.
“What are you doing here?” She asked unfeelingly.
I can’t believe Carlos was telling the truth about something for once.
“Carlos told me you’d be here… what are you doing here, Sophy?” I asked concerned.
What is she planning exactly and how does Carlos know about it? I hated that guy ever since he started dating Sophia in senior high and he was a college student- 5yrs older than us.
“It’s none of your business, go home!” she sternly ordered.
Maybe it’s not my business, but if she’s about to make a mistake, I have to stop her.
“I’m not going anywhere, at least not without you. Come… We’re leaving here” I countered as I grabbed her hand and dragged her to my car.
“Livy?… Livy? B’tch let me go!” She yelled as she yanked her arm from my hand.
I’ve had enough of her attitude, seriously. I won’t stand for it any longer.
“Sophia, you’re coming home with me- I don’t care what you’re planning to do, I’m not leaving without you.” I stated sternly.
“You really are a fool dear sister. Why the hell did you come here in the first place? Are you not the least bit afraid for your well being?” She asked maliciously.
“How can I think about myself when that menace- Carlos, texted me and told me you’re about to make a mistake? How can I be afraid when it’s my duty to protect my sister?” I asked, appalled that she would even ask me that in the first place.
“Protect me? Please… sister, spare me you speech of benevolence. Each time you fu’king say something as stupid as that, I feel like slapping you across the face. FYI, I’m not making any mistake, I’m just leaving ya’ll. You on the other hand made a grave mistake coming here.” She stated with a wicked look in her eyes.
Just then, a black Camaro SS drove by and packed behind my Lexus RX 350. I watched as Carlos slowly came out of the car with a wicked smirk on his face, that corresponded with the look in Sophia’s eyes.
That car, Sophia had told us she sold it few weeks ago, but that was a lie. She had given it to this golddigger- Carlos Gillian. I can’t believe Sophia have been in touch with him even after she got married to Markian.
Damn, I hated that guy so much and only God knows what he’s up to now.
“Really, Sophia? You’re still in touch with this maniac after all this while? You are married for heaven’s sake” I cried out in disbelief.
How is it that she honestly can’t see this idiot for the opportunist he really is?
“What marriage? I was never happy in that godforsaken joke of a marriage and it’s all thanks to you!” She yelled to my surprise.
Me?… How?
“Oh… Livy, Livy, Livy? I’ve never met anyone as gullible as you babe. Oh, forgive me but there was a typo in the text I sent you. I should have texted that your sister is about to leave Minnesota with me. My bad.” Carlos cited hatefully with a chuckle.
I wanted to launch at him and gouge his eyes out. He truly is the worse.
“Sophia, we’re going back now…” I stated sternly and pulled her by the arm again. “… there’s no way I’ll let you make such a stupid mistake. If things between you and Markian isn’t working out, then you can talk to him about it. I’ll even speak to mom about it, but I can’t let you just run away like this. There are better ways of doing things, not like these.” I concluded while pulling her to my car.
But Carlos held my hand to stop me, and I flinched in disgust and gave him a sound slap across his face.
“Don’t you ever touch me again, in this life or in your next… I’ll rather die than watch you destroy my sister’s life, you hear me?!” I yelled in pure anger as I held Sophia by the hand again and pulled her closer to me.
I dragged her all the way to the passenger side of my car and open the door to put her inside, when I felt a bombarding pain at the back of my head.
I staggered for a moment as I slowly turned around with blurry eyes. The pain numbing my body as I became dizzy and fell on my knees first.
I looked up at Carlos who was holding a log of fresh wood- that must be what he had hit me with. I knelt there immobile as my vision slowly faded.
I stared at Carlos as my eyes began to shutdown, but before I completely passed out, I saw another image join Carlos to stared down at me as my body gave up.
Sophia- my own sister, watched with Carlos as I struggled to stay awake but failed.
I remember it all now.
******************************
“You shouldn’t have hit her so hard, Carlos. What if she dies…” Sophia asked as she stared at her sister’s immobile body. “… you could have used chloroform to knock her unconscious instead.” she ranted on.
“Oh, forgive me for thinking fast. The chloroform is back in my car and before I would retrieve it, your sister would have had you half way back home by then.” Carlos stated in a sarcastic tone.
“We can’t leave her like this, she’s bleeding.” Sophia uttered concerned.
“Will you relax? She’s going to be fine. Now come help me get the body out of my trunk and into your car, it’s getting dark.” He ordered unfeelingly.
Sophia obeyed as she followed him to his car trunk. They both put on their nose masks and cloves as they carried the body out of the trunk. It reeked of formaldehyde, but they successfully got it into Sophia’s car and placed it in the driver’s side of her car.
Then Carlos removed the plastic bag from the body and placed the head on the steering. Removing the brakes, the car launched into a tree. Then he took out a can of gasoline from his car and poured it on the car before setting it on fire.
“What do we do with her?” Sophia asked referring to Livy.
“Exactly what I had intended to when I texted her to come here” Carlos replied casually as he stared at the burning car.
“And that is?” She pressed on.
“She already saw what happened, so when she regains consciousness she’ll try to tell your family that you were about to run away with me. So, why don’t I make her take responsibility for that” Carlos replied pointing at the car he set ablaze.
“You really hate her that so much?” Sophia asked appalled.
“Don’t you? She kept us apart for 2years… Relax. Your mother would see to it that nothing happens to her.” He cited scornfully.
When Sophia didn’t say anything else, he went to were Livy laid unconscious on the ground and carried her up. He took her close to the burning car- but not so close, and laid her down on the grass. He then placed the empty gasoline can and lighter in her hand before he returned to Sophia who stood beside Olivia’s car.
“I wonder how she’ll get out of this one. Could you at least call the cops? I don’t want her lying on the bare grass all alone for too long.” Sophia requested simply as if she cared that much.
“As you wish, my love” he responded with a bow, before they both stared at Sophia for a brief moment.
“You take my car, I’ll get rid of her ride and meet you at the airport in an hour, ok?…” he stated and she nodded in affirmation. “… I love you”
“Love you too” she responded as she walked over to the black camaro.
But, before she got in, she looked at Livy on the ground for a second time and blew her a kiss.
“So, long dear sister. Let’s hope we never see each other again” she whispered, then got into the car and drove off.
