It was after ten almost eleven when the two returned to the villa, and Yolanda Taylor went straight to bed changing into her pajamas.
She had slept quite a bit, but after being tossed around by Gwen Fox for over an hour, her body was as uncomfortable as if it was falling apart.
Gwen Fox walked in after hanging up the phone and Yolanda Taylor was already asleep.
She was probably too tired, and she slept heavily. He sat on the bed, and when the bed moved, she didn’t show any signs of waking up.
Gwen Fox raised a hand to her slightly furrowed brow and couldn’t help but think of the question she had asked herself earlier at dinner.
“Haven’t you thought much about it?”
He hadn’t just thought about it more, he’d even assumed that something was really going on with her and Primo Jones.
Gwen Fox thought again of Primo Jones’ words, his statement that he didn’t believe her.
He was suddenly a bit of a wreck, but the Yolanda Taylor wasn’t the Yolanda Taylor of old, she didn’t love him anymore, and she hated him.
It’s not that he doesn’t believe her, he’s just scared.
He knew he was despicable, he had forced her into this marriage, and even the wedding photos that were hanging now were a result of her impatience to deal with his compromises.
Once she had whispered in his ear that what she wanted before she didn’t want now, but instead it had become him who wanted it.
When he had rushed all the way back today, his whole body had almost gone crazy.
He didn’t even dare to imagine what he should do if pushing open the door was really the scene he didn’t want to see.
After living for thirty-one years, he had never been so timid as he was today.
Thankfully, all was well.
Gwen Fox withdrew his hand, changed into a different set of clothes, and turned off the light and got into bed as well.
He was tired, too, and fell asleep quickly with Yolanda Taylor in his arms.
Yolanda Taylor slept poorly, though one was sleepy and still tired, but she had a nightmare.
She dreamed that Angela had brought several men over to see her, and she was in that hotel bed today, unable to move.
Angela was standing there in the foyer looking at her, saying that she was going to destroy her, that she was going to make her miserable and desperate, that she was going to be unable to hold her head up for the rest of her life!
She said, setting up the camera, and with a wave of her hand, the men walked towards her, reaching out to rip her clothes off.
“No, don’t, let go of me! Don’t, get off of me! Get off!”
Gwen Fox woke up immediately when he heard Yolanda Taylor’s dreamy words.
He raised his hand and turned on the night light, the dim light hit, Yolanda Taylor’s head was covered in a big sweat, her hands kept flailing, the words to get away kept coming from the inside of her mouth, her brow was furrowed together, her quivering lips were a little white.
Yolanda Taylor was having a nightmare.
Gwen Fox raised her hand and half picked her up, opening her mouth to call her, “Wake up, Dear, it’s just a dream, a nightmare.”
Gwen Fox’s voice came to her ears, she heard him say it was just a dream, a nightmare, but she couldn’t wake up, her arms and legs were being held down, she tried to break away from the men, but she couldn’t.
“Slap-”
Yolanda Taylor opened her eyes and woke up even as the slap landed on Gwen Fox’s face.
She looked blankly at Gwen Fox in front of her for half a second before she reacted and moved.
Gwen Fox didn’t care about the slap, and when he saw her about to get out of bed, he subconsciously raised his hand to pull her back, “What are you doing?”
Yolanda Taylor glanced at the hand he was holding, “I want some water.”
“I’ll get some water.”
Gwen Fox said, the man already out of bed.
She didn’t refuse and raised her hand to touch her forehead, finding it cold.
Yolanda Taylor was still shaking as she thought about the dream she had just had.
Angela had given her a lot of bad treatment in her earlier years, but it was the first time she had gone as far as today.
She remembered that Angela even pushed her into the lake during a club activity one year in her junior year of college, and in the late fall, she was fished out and had a cold for more than half a month.
Later on, most of them were like this, pushing her or tripping her, or finding someone to fan the flames behind her back.
But none of that had been as horrible as this one; she’d known Angela was coming, but she hadn’t expected her to just go for it.
Lost in thought, Gwen Fox had returned with hot water for her.
“Hot water, be careful it’s hot.”
Hearing his voice, Yolanda Taylor gave him a dazed look before reaching out to take the cup.
Her hand burned just as she touched the cup, and Yolanda Taylor couldn’t help but huff.
Gwen Fox frowned a little and caught her hand, “Burned?”
She shrank, “Thirsty.”
“Hold on, the water’s hot.”
Yolanda Taylor didn’t say anything, with the air conditioner inside the room, the water cooled quickly.
After drinking the water, Yolanda Taylor laid back down and closed her eyes, seemingly falling back asleep.
Gwen Fox watched her for a while, the room was so quiet that he seemed to be able to hear Yolanda Taylor’s calm breathing.
He sat there for about ten more minutes before turning the light back off and getting into bed.
The next day, Yolanda Taylor was woken up by a phone call.
The phone call was from CoCo, after the wedding yesterday, she didn’t see her return to the store, CoCo asked a few people, all of them said that they hadn’t seen Yolanda Taylor after the wedding, they had planned to wait for this morning to see Yolanda Taylor, but the result was that it was after nine o’clock, but they didn’t wait for Yolanda Taylor to come back.
They are very busy these days, those news of Yolanda Taylor’s cheating yesterday were suppressed without seeing them in time, so CoCo and the girls didn’t know there was such a thing, and they called this number just worrying that something had happened to Yolanda Taylor.
With the phone ringing so loud that she couldn’t sleep, Gwen Fox tried to snuff the phone, but Yolanda Taylor reached over and took the phone, “My phone.”
She reaches across for the phone, a position that looks like she’s hugging him.
Gwen Fox looks down at her and lets go, reaching out and taking the person into his arms as she answers the phone.
Yolanda Taylor was answering the phone and couldn’t say anything but go a little frown, “CoCo?”
“Boss Yolanda, are you okay? We didn’t even see you come back yesterday.”
“It’s fine, I was not feeling well yesterday, I went home to rest, I forgot to tell you guys, sorry.”
“It’s good that you’re fine, then you rest, I won’t bother you anymore.”
“Good.”
Hanging up the phone, Yolanda Taylor raised her hand and pushed Gwen Fox, “You let go of me.”
“Let me hold you for a moment.”
He said, his hand pressed down on the back of her head, holding her down with this head in his arms.
Gwen Fox’s chin pressed against the top of her head, feeling her in his arms.
He knew that when he got up later, Yolanda Taylor was probably going to return to her old indifference to him.
Yesterday’s incident should have really scared her, and it wouldn’t have allowed her to show a little bit of dependence on him.
He hadn’t realized how valuable her dependence was until he couldn’t have it now.
But now she only hated him, if she hadn’t lost control of her emotions yesterday, she probably wouldn’t have shown that kind of fear and dependence.
Gwen Fox pursed her lips, her fingers tightened slightly, only to feel all the bitterness in her throat.
