Chapter 70 Why didn’t you save me?

Book:Welcome To My Life Published:2024-6-3

Dika Rothstein sighed slightly, “You and Gwen Fox got together your sophomore year of college, but I don’t know much about your time together, but you did have a great relationship during those years. There was a man named Joel Smith at the time …”
Yolanda Taylor heard Dika Rothstein mention these things for the first time, but she didn’t remember any of it.
She listened to her past as if it were a story.
Dika Rothstein didn’t say much, he probably really didn’t know a lot of things, and the few things he did say seemed like plots inside a romance novel.
Gwen Fox seemed to treat her well during the years they were together, and the relationship between them seemed to be good.
But why, after such a good relationship, Gwen Fox announced her engagement to someone else overnight, broke up with her, and in the end, they ended up in a mess.
And now, Gwen Fox was obsessively guarding her.
“Dika, I’m so messed up, I don’t know why, but I have this feeling that I feel like I still love Gwen Fox.”
She said it softly, but Dika Rothstein heard it anyway.
The cruel answer made Dika Rothstein’s body go cold, he didn’t expect that he had kept her for three years and in the end he got such a result.
Seeing that he didn’t say anything for a long time, Yolanda Taylor couldn’t help but incline her head to look at him.
After seeing Dika Rothstein’s whitened face, Yolanda Taylor was stunned for a moment, she raised her hands to cover her face and squatted down, “I’m sorry, Dika Rothstein, I don’t know what to do.”
She really didn’t know what to do.
She was losing her memory, but she was otherwise fine, and the pain in her heart when she saw Gwen Fox in a pool of blood was something she had no way of fooling herself about.
She’d always resisted Gwen Fox’s presence in her sights, simply because she sensed that the man held a fatal attraction for her.
But that one tiny dream was causing her to panic, that suffocating feeling tormenting her every day at night, as if telling her that she wouldn’t end up well with Gwen Fox.
That’s why she desperately wanted to know everything about the past, but she didn’t know anything.
“Get up.”
He couldn’t bear to see her feel so bad in the end, “The doctor said that it’s actually unlikely for your memory to return, and if you want to be with Gwen Fox, it’s not impossible.”
Yolanda Taylor froze for a moment and looked up at him, “Dika-”
“After all these years, I’m actually used to it, if only you’d be happier.”
A gust of wind hit her and Yolanda Taylor inclined her head, she wanted to say something but ended up saying nothing.
“I’m sorry.”
Dika Rothstein smiled bitterly, “There’s no sorry within a relationship.”
Gwen Fox was asleep when Yolanda Taylor returned to the hospital room again.
She felt that things in this world were really marvelous, she obviously didn’t remember what happened before, but when she saw him, she still had no way to control herself from falling in love with him.
It was quiet inside the hospital room, with only the sound of machines running.
Yolanda Taylor sat down in a chair on the side, she hadn’t slept much last night, and today, all of a sudden, something like this happened, Yolanda Taylor soon couldn’t hold herself up and fell asleep on the hospital bed.
That was the sight Dika Rothstein saw when he came up, remembering the past few years when several times he had seen Yolanda Taylor being led out of the car by Gwen Fox.
She had a light smile on her face and a quiet frown that made it obvious she was happy.
The nurse came over to check on her, and it was then that Dika Rothstein withdrew her gaze, “A little more gently, please.”
The nurse gave him a look, “Oh.”
Gwen Fox was woken up in the middle of the night by the pain and opened his eyes only to find Yolanda Taylor beside him.
He was stunned for a moment and inclined his head to look straight at her.
He couldn’t move very much right now, he couldn’t roll over, and he basically couldn’t move his body, the only thing he could probably do was turn his head sideways.
She was sleeping heavily, with a coat draped over her, and it didn’t take much to realize that the coat belonged to Dika Rothstein.
Gwen Fox’s eyes sank slightly at the thought.
He disliked Dika Rothstein, but he had to thank him for saving Yolanda Taylor.
Yolanda Taylor, not knowing what she was dreaming about, frowned and moved her mouth slightly as if she were saying something, but he couldn’t hear her clearly, only a few faint words, “No, you-”
“Dear?”
He opened his mouth to call out to her, but Yolanda Taylor was completely trapped inside a dream.
Gwen Fox watched as tears streamed down from the corners of her eyes and tried to lift his hand to help her wipe them away, but realized that his chest hurt like hell.
He gritted his teeth and reached over against the pain.
Yolanda Taylor stirred from her sleep and opened her eyes to see Gwen Fox suddenly reaching over.
She startled for a moment, “What are you doing?”
Yolanda Taylor reacted and quickly held his hand down, “The doctor said you broke three ribs! You can’t move, are you crazy, Gwen Fox!”
She couldn’t care about her own tears, afraid that his fidgeting would cause internal bleeding, she hurriedly helped him put his hand back down.
Dark eyes looked straight at her, “You’re crying.”
Hearing his words, Yolanda Taylor raised her hand and touched her face, realizing that she was really crying.
She looked at Gwen Fox on the hospital bed, remembering the dream she had just had, and suddenly felt a little cold.
She looked at him for a moment, then spoke slowly, “I just had a nightmare.”
“What kind of dream?”
It was a little hard for him to speak, his voice a little hoarse.
Yolanda Taylor pursed her lips for a moment, “I dreamed that someone was dragging me away and I was begging for someone to save me, but no one did.”
Hearing her say this, Gwen Fox suddenly realized that maybe what she was dreaming wasn’t a dream.
The next second, he heard Yolanda Taylor’s voice carry, “I couldn’t see the faces of those people, but I think the one I was begging for help was you, Gwen Fox.”
She said, pausing, “Why didn’t you save me?”
As the words left her lips, she blinked, a tear in the corner of her eye following her again.
Gwen Fox only felt as if his heart had been hammered hard by something, his lips moved slightly but he couldn’t get a word out.
Yolanda Taylor looked at him, attempting to want an answer, but he didn’t say a word.
She pursed her lips for a moment, “Actually, you shouldn’t be pestering me like this, I’ve lost my memory, but after I met you, I’ve always had bits and pieces of dreams, and I could never see the people in those dreams clearly, but piecing it all together, I can about guess that our past wasn’t exactly rosy. Isn’t that right, Gwen Fox?”
“That’s all in the past.”
“Past?”
She smiled a little, not sure why, but the loss of her heart pressed against her when she heard him say that.
She tilted her head and looked at the kettle on the side, “Are you thirsty?”
He nodded a little and the two didn’t bring up the subject from earlier.
Yolanda Taylor fed him half a glass of water and glanced down at the clock, realizing it was just after three in the morning, “You go back to sleep, the doctor said you need to get more rest.”
Gwen Fox looked at her, wanting her to go back to rest but wanting her to watch over him, in the end he said nothing.
He suddenly remembered what Yolanda Taylor had said earlier and he thought that he might actually be selfish.
