Yolanda Taylor was crouched in the doorway when Taryn arrived.
Taryn didn’t see her at first until she got around the chair and she saw Yolanda Taylor.
“Sister Yolanda, you-”
Taryn just bumped into Yolanda Taylor and couldn’t help but be startled for a moment, “Sister Yolanda, don’t crouch here, your hands are too cold.”
Only when she heard Taryn’s voice did Yolanda Taylor raise her head.
She wanted to stand up, but after squatting there for too long, her feet were a little numb.
Yolanda Taylor was just halfway up when the person fell back down, “My feet are numb.”
Her voice was raspy and indistinct, and Taryn looked down and realized that Yolanda Taylor had quite a few tear tracks on her face.
When she first received the call, Taryn’s whole heart lifted when she heard her say that she had been in a car accident, and it was only when she heard her say that she was fine that she was slightly relieved.
But now that she saw her like this, she was no better.
Yolanda Taylor helped Taryn to her feet, four hours had calmed her down a lot, only as soon as she was quiet she thought about the blood all over the floor.
Some of it was from her dreams, some of it was from reality, she couldn’t tell if it was from her dreams or from reality.
“Taryn.”
Yolanda Taylor inclined her head to look at Taryn, her whole body shivering, “It’s all blood, it’s everywhere.”
“It’s okay, Sister Yolanda, it’s okay!”
Taryn thought she was frightened by the car accident and quickly calmed her down.
Yolanda Taylor pursed her lips and didn’t say a word, her eyes staring deathly at the door to that operating room.
“Sister Yolanda, it’s already eleven o’clock, are you hungry? I’ll buy you something to eat?”
Yolanda Taylor left just after five in the morning, Taryn was worried that she hadn’t eaten breakfast, and now it’s already after eleven, it’s almost time for lunch.
“Not hungry.”
She waved a hand and walked across the room, sitting on top of that chair.
The hospital was starting to fill up, and it was a little after twelve when Gwen Fox was wheeled out.
Yolanda Taylor rushed over to him only to see that his head was wrapped in gauze, as was his upper body, and his right leg was wrapped as well, if she hadn’t watched him go in there she wouldn’t have recognized it as Gwen Fox.
“Doctor, what happened to my friend him?”
“The blow to the brain was severe, there’s a severe concussion, three broken ribs in his chest and a fractured right leg. The patient’s life is not in danger for now, he hasn’t had his anesthesia so he’s still in a coma.”
Yolanda Taylor was relieved to hear the doctor’s words.
“Thank you doctor.”
Knowing that Gwen Fox was okay made Yolanda Taylor feel the sinking feeling in her heart subside.
Taryn had brought back lunch, and she didn’t have much of an appetite, but she did force herself to take a few bites.
It was after 8:00 p. m. when Dika Rothstein arrived, and Gwen Fox was just waking up for the second time, Yolanda Taylor dabbing at his lips with a cotton swab.
There was a knock on the door to the hospital room, and as soon as Yolanda Taylor turned around, she saw that it was Dika Rothstein who had come in.
“Are you okay?”
Dika Rothstein glanced at Yolanda Taylor first to make sure she was okay before dropping his eyes to Gwen Fox in the hospital bed.
He was a little angry and a little thankful.
If Gwen Fox hadn’t been following Yolanda Taylor this time, then that car was crashing into Yolanda Taylor.
“Thanks.”
Gwen Fox didn’t say anything, and the two men just stared at each other, and Yolanda Taylor just felt the atmosphere inside the hospital room depress a little.
She tugged on Dika Rothstein, “The doctor said he needs more rest, let’s get out.”
She knew that Dika Rothstein didn’t like Gwen Fox, but this time it was Gwen Fox who saved her, Yolanda Taylor didn’t want Dika Rothstein to argue with him at this time.
His sleeve was pulled, Dika Rothstein looked down at Yolanda Taylor’s hand, “I’m going out for a smoke.”
With that, he turned and left the hospital room.
Yolanda Taylor was stunned for a moment and tried to chase him out, but then she heard Gwen Fox in the hospital bed yell for water.
Footsteps faltering, she glanced back at him and had to pour him a small glass of water and pass it to his lips.
Gwen Fox’s head was immobilized and couldn’t be moved easily for a few days, so all she could do was tilt the glass of water a little bit, letting it slowly trickle inside his mouth.
“More?”
Gwen Fox nodded and she had to pour a little more water.
After drinking this time, Gwen Fox finally didn’t want any more water.
Yolanda Taylor put the glass of water away, “You rest a lot, the doctor said you’ve had a bad blow to the brain, you need to sleep a lot, I’m going to go out for a little while, if there’s anything you can do, you can just ring the bell for the nurse, okay?”
He didn’t say yes or no, he just looked at her like that.
One of his faces was all wrapped up, except for those eyes.
“I’ll be back soon.”
Only this time did he respond, “Uh-huh.”
Dika Rothstein had just finished her cigarette when Yolanda Taylor walked down to the hospital floor.
Seeing her come down, Dika Rothstein frowned, “What brings you down here?”
“To see you.”
She pursed her lips for a second, “Dika, did Gwen Fox and I used to be lovers?”
She didn’t really want to ask, but there didn’t seem to be any other way for her to know what she used to be other than Dika Rothstein.
Dika Rothstein blushed stiffly, “Well, but you broke up before your accident.”
He said, pausing, “Did you meet a woman, Xenia Davis, who Gwen Fox was engaged to before you broke up, though the two had their engagement annulled shortly afterward.”
Yolanda Taylor froze, she hadn’t realized that there was such a doggone thing going on between herself and Gwen Fox, “Did I separate from him because of Xenia Davis?”
Dika Rothstein shook her head a little, “I don’t know much about what’s going on between you two.”
He couldn’t help but feel his heart sink a little when he said that.
For so many years, he had watched her and Gwen Fox both from the sidelines, and it was so hard to have a chance to walk into her life with a straight face, but in the end, he couldn’t resist a Gwen Fox.
He had always thought that he and Yolanda Taylor were fine just the way they were, that she wouldn’t like anyone else, and that he wouldn’t have anyone else, and that even if she didn’t accept him, she was fine.
But Gwen Fox’s sudden appearance brought everything back to square one.
“Yolanda, I hid it from you not only because I like it, but there is another important reason, what happened back then was too cruel, I don’t want you to go through it again. the Fox family is a place that eats people but doesn’t spit out their bones, you were taunted by Gwen Fox’s grandpa back then so much that you couldn’t even lift your head up, even if you can forgive Gwen Fox, the people of the Fox family will never forgive you for what happened. , the people of the Fox family won’t let you get anywhere with him.”
“Dika, can you tell me about my past?”
Yolanda Taylor looked at him with a plea inside her eyes that he couldn’t refuse.
