It was just after ten in the morning when the police from yesterday came by again.
This time they weren’t here to take Yolanda Taylor’s statement, but to question Gwen Fox.
Yesterday, Gwen Fox was in resuscitation and the police didn’t have a chance to take a statement, but now that he’s awake and in a stable condition, they came to take a statement.
Yolanda Taylor took advantage of this time to go to the hotel near the hospital to take a shower, after the shower, she was blow-drying her hair, but blow-drying her hair, she fell asleep.
In the hospital room, the police had just finished taking statements when the nurse came to push Gwen Fox for a checkup.
Gwen Fox subconsciously glanced out and couldn’t see a familiar figure, he couldn’t help but frown, “My friend who was in bed with me yesterday didn’t come?”
“Uh-huh.”
Gwen Fox pursed his lips for a moment, his face sinking a little.
However, his face was all wrapped up, so he couldn’t see if his face was good or not, just a pair of black eyes that were cold.
Returning from his examination, Gwen Fox saw Dika Rothstein standing in front of his hospital bed.
“Where’s Yolanda Taylor?”
“Yolanda went to the hotel to rest.”
Dika Rothstein put the lighter she was playing with in her hand back in her pocket and watched as he was carried to the hospital bed by two nurses, “Young Master Fox didn’t think he’d see the day, did he?”
The two nurses said the tingles and saw that the two men had something to say and went out, helping to close the door on their way out.
Gwen Fox looked at Dika Rothstein, “I don’t think you ever thought you’d have a day like this either.”
Dika Rothstein’s face flushes with hostility.
He leans down and looks straight at him, “Gwen Fox, haven’t you victimized her enough? Do you think this one was just an accident?!”
“And what about you? Do you think you can keep her safe? Dika Rothstein, you’re stupid because you were selfish enough to tell Xenia Davis that I was here, to try and get Xenia Davis to force me out! But you weren’t selfish enough to take Yolanda Taylor away from me regardless of what she thought! The root cause of this accident is me, but what about the direct cause?!”
Needless to say, Gwen Fox is still the same Gwen Fox after all these years.
He left him speechless in three words.
If it wasn’t for the fact that Gwen Fox was now lying dead in a hospital bed, his fist would have already landed.
But in the end he was unwilling: “Do you know how she survived back then, Gwen Fox, are you a fucking person or not? You harmed her so much, what more do you want, do you really want her to die before you can let go?!”
Hearing his words, Gwen Fox stiffened for a rare moment, “What happened before was my fault, I admit it, I just wanted to watch over her from afar, if you hadn’t taken matters into your own hands, how could you have gotten into so much trouble?!”
“I took matters into my own hands? Young Master Fox, are you forgetting about you the Fox family? How long do you think you can hide here, a year? Two years? Three years? Can you guarantee they won’t find you? Your grandfather’s health has been fine for the past two years, do you think you’ll be able to hide in a few years when your grandfather’s health is failing?!”
Gwen Fox knew that there was nothing wrong with Dika Rothstein’s words.
But how could he let it go, if he could let it go, he wouldn’t have ended up like this back then.
“I can’t hide it, but I have a way to protect her.”
“Are you sure that nice grandfather of yours won’t make the first move before you’re able to?”
Dika Rothstein said and gave a sarcastic laugh, “Gwen Fox, do you think I don’t know why you were engaged to Xenia Davis back in the day? Lamar Fox is trying to make a move on Yolanda Taylor isn’t he?”
Neither of the two could convince anyone, it was destined to be a pointless argument.
As soon as Yolanda Taylor pushed her way in, she realized the mood inside the hospital room was off.
Dika Rothstein’s face looked bad, and Gwen Fox’s didn’t look much better.
She glanced at Dika Rothstein, then at Gwen Fox, and finally dropped her eyes to Dika Rothstein’s face, “What’s wrong? Why are you guys arguing again?”
“Nothing, I was just telling him to stop being so cheeky and following you around all the time.”
Gwen Fox didn’t say anything, acquiescing to this statement from Dika Rothstein.
It was rare for them all to have the same tacit understanding about what had happened before, and they didn’t want Yolanda Taylor to know about it.
Dika Rothstein finished and looked at her cell phone, “It’s twelve o’clock, what do you want to eat, I’ll go buy it.”
Yolanda Taylor thought about it, “Porridge.”
“Okay.”
Before leaving, Dika Rothstein glanced at Gwen Fox in her hospital bed.
Yolanda Taylor frowned a little, knowing that the two must have hidden something from her, but she didn’t ask in the end, putting the fruit in her hand on a side counter and looking to Gwen Fox, “I washed the fruit, what do you want to eat? Apples or oranges?”
“Orange.”
He glanced at the apples and oranges in her hand and finally chose the orange.
“Oh.”
Yolanda Taylor put the apple down and started peeling the orange.
She had just slept and had another dream, and just like before, the people in it couldn’t see their faces clearly.
That dream wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t good either.
Neither of them said anything, and it was quiet inside the hospital room.
Yolanda Taylor peeled the orange, and she tore the flesh away from the white strands, petal by petal, before handing it to him.
Gwen Fox opened her mouth and bit into that orange.
It was sour.
“Sweet?”
“Uh-huh.”
He answered, his eyes falling to her hand, which had a scar the size of a fingernail on the back.
Yolanda Taylor fed him another piece, then took one and put it inside her mouth.
It was too late for Gwen Fox to open her mouth, and the next second, Yolanda Taylor’s face crumpled into a frown.
She found a tissue and spit out the orange, looking at him incredulously, “You think it’s sweet even if it’s so sour, you don’t have a taste disorder, do you?”
She had never been able to eat sour things, that is, she heard Gwen Fox say that the orange was sweet, so she wanted to taste it, but the result was that just after putting it inside her mouth and biting through the skin, it was so sour that her teeth were almost soft.
Yolanda Taylor quickly got up and went to the restroom to rinse her mouth, and only when she came out did she remember Gwen Fox, and hurriedly poured a glass of water, “Do you want to drink some water to calm down.”
She said, then felt a little embarrassed, “When I bought it, that owner told me it was very sweet.”
“It’s okay.”
Seeing her embarrassment, Gwen Fox spoke up.
Yolanda Taylor glanced at the few remaining oranges, “Maybe it’s just that one that’s more sour, why don’t I peel another one for you?”
Gwen Fox pushed her tongue against her sore front teeth, “Okay.”
She set down her cup and peeled another orange.
After all these years, Yolanda Taylor’s habit of always eating oranges with all those white filaments torn off remained the same.
She looked down and tore it off carefully, only to look up and realize that Gwen Fox was looking at her.
Yolanda Taylor was stunned for a moment, “What’s wrong? Don’t you want to eat?”
“No.”
He finished, and opened his mouth, directly proving it with his actions.
