Chapter 40 What am I going to do, Dika Rothstein

Book:Welcome To My Life Published:2024-6-3

Petra had been taken away by Gwen Fox’s men, and Yolanda Taylor was like a kite on a string, having to stay in Borden City because Petra was being held.
The December wind could hurt, and she’d just gotten out of her car when she was hit by the blistering cold.
The doorman recognized Dika Rothstein’s car, and also recognized Yolanda Taylor, although she was surprised, she didn’t dare to be offended, and hurriedly greeted her with her umbrella, “Miss Taylor, Godfather of Dika is waiting for you inside the box.”
Yolanda Taylor nodded, “Thank you.”
She said, getting inside the umbrella and brushing a few snowflakes from her shoulders.
No sooner had she entered than the doorman greeted a man to lead her, “Jack, get over here and take Miss Taylor inside Godfather of Dika’s box.”
The staff named Jack quickly came over and smiled at Yolanda Taylor, “Miss Taylor, I’ll take you up.”
“Thanks.”
Yolanda Taylor faintly swept a glance at him, although there was a smile on her face, the smile was very shallow, a pair of almond eyes curved, but inside was not the end of the smile.
The staff was stunned for a moment, not daring to look at her again, and hurriedly opened the way in front: “Miss Taylor, this way please.”
Yolanda Taylor followed him up to the second floor, then entered the elevator again, and after coming out of the elevator, she circled around again before she could be considered to be in front of the box.
With such an intricate design, if it wasn’t for someone leading the way, she might have found it somewhere else.
The staff helped her push open the door to the box, the screen blocking Dika Rothstein from inside, but Yolanda Taylor would still be able to see who was inside.
“Thanks.”
She responded, lifting her leg and heading inside.
Dika Rothstein saw her and raised her hand to pour her a cup of hot tea, “Cold today, isn’t it?”
“It does seem a little chilly.”
Yolanda Taylor took her seat, accepted the tea and said thank you.
Dika Rothstein inclined her head and gave her a sidelong glance, “You don’t say much of anything these days, but this ‘thank you’ hangs on your lips without stopping.”
He finished with a snort, “Is the wound healed yet?”
The day Dika Rothstein picked her up from the airport, she hadn’t been paying attention when she went up the stairs and rolled down them, fracturing her hand on impact and leaving it in a splint for the first few days, Yolanda Taylor had only gone to the hospital yesterday to have the splint removed.
Hearing his words, Yolanda Taylor was a bit baffled: “It’s much better, the doctor said to pay more attention, and after another month it will be able to recover as usual.”
She said, pursing her lips for a moment, her throat a bit scratchy as she opened her mouth, “My mom – still no news?”
After Gwen Fox had taken Petra away that day, Dika Rothstein had initially inquired about where Petra was, but Yolanda Taylor had been hospitalized, and by the time she’d been discharged for a few days, Petra was nowhere to be found.
If she hadn’t watched Gwen Fox take the man away, Yolanda Taylor would have never guessed that Petra was in his possession.
Dika Rothstein’s hand on the teapot gave a slight lurch, “Don’t worry, I got through to Lamar Fox, Gwen Fox wouldn’t dare to really do anything to Auntie.”
Yolanda Taylor has heard this many times, she knows that Dika Rothstein is doing her best, the Fox family has a wide range of contacts, Gwen Fox knows a lot of people, if Petra is really hidden by him, it’s normal for her not to be able to find her.
These days, Gwen Fox has been very quiet, as if he wasn’t the one who tried to swallow her up at the airport that day.
Yolanda Taylor had been having nightmares about Petra’s various accidental misadventures for the past few days.
“Still having nightmares?”
Dika Rothstein’s words brought her back to her senses, she glanced at him and nodded, “I dreamt about my mom again last night, I dreamt that my mom was being chased and fell into the ocean, she couldn’t swim and kept calling out for me to save her from the ocean …”
Dika Rothstein gave her a look, “Dreams are the opposite.”
He said, digressing, “Let’s see what we want to eat.”
Yolanda Taylor came over here for the first time, this side of the place was chic, but she wasn’t in the mood or had much of an appetite for it, and after ordering a few random signature dishes, she returned the menu.
Dika Rothstein didn’t say anything, Yolanda Taylor had been like that since that day at the airport.
Although she used to be not a talkative person, but a pair of almond eyes when looking at people watery, when she smiled, it was more like picking the stars and putting them inside, afraid of him to be afraid of him, but also only in the words of a few more cautious, and occasionally you can still see a few points of her divine splendor.
But after that day has changed, her whole person is like being pressed by what, less words do not say, all over the body is a kind of sundown thick sink.
Just twenty-something a girl, even if not as lively as seventeen or eighteen years old, but also still bright and beautiful time, now but by her to live the days of twilight, he looked at the heart hair depressed.
The meal was a little quiet, at the end of the meal, Dika Rothstein touched a cigarette, wanted to light it, but held back, only clamped on the hand.
Yolanda Taylor also put down her chopsticks and inclined her head to look at him, “I want to go to the Fox family.”
Hearing her words, Dika Rothstein frowned, “There’s not much use for you to go to the Fox family now, Lamar Fox almost fell out with Gwen Fox because of this matter.”
“I know.”
Yolanda Taylor pursed her lips for a second, “But you don’t know Lamar Fox, he’s an old fox who consistently likes to make a show of being in front of people.”
Dika Rothstein flexed her fingers and tapped the desktop, watching her for a long time.
After a half-dozen moments of silence, Yolanda Taylor opened her mouth, “I’m going to the restroom.”
“Go ahead, the dinner doesn’t start until eight, there’s no rush.”
Gwen Fox can’t hide people without a little wind, just that the children of the Borden City’s families have some relationship with the Fox family, most of them are toward Gwen Fox.
She Yolanda Taylor is just a pawn of Gwen Fox’s revenge, and now she is going to throw it away, and the people in their circle can still give her a three-point smile, which has already been considered as a very good face, but she wants to ask where Petra is, which is impossible, but there is one person who can. If there was one person in the world who would want the two of her and Gwen Fox to have a falling out, besides Lamar Fox, it would probably be Xenia Davis.
She and Xenia Davis have been fighting for so many years, and it turns out that no one wins, the one who wins is Gwen Fox.
But it is a fact that Xenia Davis likes Gwen Fox, and she probably wishes that she, Yolanda Taylor, would never show up in front of Gwen Fox’s eyes again in her life.
Tonight was a dinner party hosted by the Davis family, and Yolanda Taylor didn’t have an invitation, but Dika Rothstein did.
Yolanda Taylor nodded and took her cell phone and got up and left the box.
Watching the door to the box close, Dika Rothstein got up and walked over to the window, looking down and lighting a cigarette.
Petra wasn’t being hidden by Gwen Fox, a week ago Petra had accidentally been hit by a car while running away, the car behind her hadn’t braked and ran right over it.
Lamar Fox had called him to tell him about it, and he’d rushed over to collect Petra’s body, only to find that she’d been so badly mangled that she couldn’t even see her face.
He’d been planning to call Yolanda Taylor, but she’d called before he’d even dialed her number.
He was surprised that she knew, but then he heard her sobbing voice on the other end of the phone, “Dika Rothstein, I dreamt that something happened to my mom, what am I going to do if something happens to my mom, Dika Rothstein.”
After so many days, he could still remember the tone of her voice when she said that, desperate and helpless, and in that moment, he couldn’t say the words that were on his lips.
Then he’d made a deal with Lamar Fox that he’d keep it a secret, provided Gwen Fox didn’t come after Yolanda Taylor again.
Lamar Fox begged to differ, and so the matter of Petra’s accident was, until now, known only to him and Lamar Fox.
