The Final Test

Book:The Wingless Fairy (The Alpha's Luna) Published:2024-6-3

Weeks rolled away, and it was already the day for the final test.
People of high calibers were invited to witness the announcement of the final test. Susan and Jacinta weren’t left out, they were also invited.
They were early birds as they always came early to any occasion they were invited to, so they could sit at the front roll and have a clear view of everything happening.
The kingmakers and other people began to arrive one after the other. Alphas of the west and south arrived alongside some set of people.
Every important person needed all arrived except for Matias, and the meeting couldn’t commence without him.
Jacinta kept turning back to glance at the entrance. What was wrong with Matias? Why wasn’t he here yet? He was supposed to be the one waiting for the kingmakers and not the other way around.
A few minutes later, Matias walked in all full of himself with his beta and gamma walking behind him. He walked majestically like he wasn’t late, although he had one eye, Matias looked smoking hot.
Matias got to the front seat that was meant for him, the three Alphas were given a separate seat at the front; he sat down but not without bowing to the kingmakers and apologizing for coming so late.
Without a waste of time, the meeting commenced, and the test was given.
The final test was for them to capture some rogues that disturbed the peace of the kingdom at daylight.
“You all have four days to capture the rogues. In four days time, the one who captures them will present the rogues here.”
If any of them were to be chosen as an Alpha, he needs to prove himself capable of fighting to protect his kingdom from harm.
The meeting came to an end after the test was given.
Susan saw Isabella and feigned ignorance as though she didn’t see her and walked pass her. Jacinta wasn’t left out, she did the same as her mother did.
Isabella was a bit stunned, she knew her son offended Susan, but it was hard for her to believe Susan knew about Jason’s demise and didn’t send her condolences.
Isabella ran after them as they walked out of the hall where the meeting was held.
“Hey Susan! Please wait up for me,” Isabella screamed at the top of her voice, but they pretended not to have heard her and kept walking to where their car was packed.
But Isabella didn’t give up and instead activated her inhumane speed.
Susan was about to close the door of her car and drive away when Isabella held firmly the door, preventing her from closing the car.
“Hey, I’ve been calling you, but it seemed like you didn’t hear me. How have you been?” Isabella asked, all smiles and composed.
Susan scoffed.
Jacinta hissed loudly at her.
“Isn’t it obvious that we are doing fine? Did you think that I’ll be in shambles because your son rejected my child?” Susan spat disdainfully.
“Come on, Susan, you know it’s not like that. You and I know how much I tried to convince Jason, to the extent of threatening to fall off from a roof if he didn’t agree to marry Jacinta, but at the end of everything, Jason has a mind of his, and I can’t always keep forcing him to do my bidding.”
“Spare me all those unwanted details please, I don’t have the time to listen to you, I have more important things to do,” Susan spat out and made to close the door again, but Isabella held the door more firmly before saying,
“Did you hear about Jason’s death?”
“Yes, I did, and I am not concerned about him being alive or dead. Who cares about the death of their enemy?” Susan ranted.
“Wh… at! You knew? You don’t care that Jason Di…ed?” Isabella stuttered out of shock.
“Yes, and I won’t even mind if you drop dead right now,” Susan roughly pushed Isabella away from her car and drove away.
Isabella stood lost. She was disappointed. How could Susan say that to her face without any iota of remorse?
Some people saw how Susan pushed her roughly, and they began to gossip while looking at her.
Isabella felt so embarrassed that she quickly got into her car and drove away. While she drove, she was so lost in thought.
Isabella walked into her castle looking so down, it was so obvious that even her workers noticed it.
“Mum, why is your face looking like that? Are you okay?” Jason, who was seated in the living room, asked immediately his mum stepped in.
She looked like someone had badly hurt her and was breathing heavily like someone who ran a marathon. Isabella was fuming in anger at the thought of what Susan said to her, how can Susan say that to her?
“Can you believe Susan told me she didn’t care if you died and will also not care if I died?”
“Hahahahahahaha,” Jason laughed hysterically.
“Is that funny to you?” Isabella screamed at Jason angrily, and he stopped laughing immediately.
“I’m sorry mum for laughing that way, but you are the only one who is blind to the fact that your supposed best friend doesn’t like you. You are so carried away and blinded by the love you have for her that you don’t even realize she has only been taking advantage of your innocence and simplicity.”
“Mum, you literally always gave that woman whatever she asked of you, but since I refused to marry her daughter, you became her enemy. She’s fighting you because you failed to grant what she wanted, is that how a true friend acts?”
“That woman was using you, I’m sure she has found someone who can get her what she wants, so you are no more needed in her life.”
It dawned on Isabella that she had been foolish for years, Susan always asked her for favors, and she always granted them to her. She never imagined she was being used by Susan to get what she wanted.
Isabella decided at that moment that she wasn’t going to beg or reach out to Susan again. Their friendship was over.
